Chapter 2: She Falls Like Rain
It was currently raining outside as I sat on my window sill, writing in my journal. It's 5 am, and I'm only up so early because school is canceled, the rain caused flooding in the streets. The sound of the thunder was booming, so sleep was off the table, but rainfall was relaxing for me. I jotted down things in my journal while I watched the rain.
The stillness was short-lived as my phone screen lit up. I read the caller ID.RoskoI answered.
'Hello''
"AMARI GET YOUR ASS OUTSIDE AND GET THESE GROCERIES OUT THIS DAMN CAR'Rosko is kind of the mother goose of the house lit's always 'cut those lights off' or 'wash those dishes.'I made my way downstairs and opened the front door to see Rosko with grocery bags in his hands, dripping head to toe in the water. I let out a chuckle."You always thinking stuff funny, now do me a favor and grab the rest of the groceries out the car."I put my crocs on and headed to the car. I picked up all the bags and closed the trunk because I refuse to take more than one trip to this car. I try to waddle my way to the front door, but I slip in a puddle on the driveway. The groceries were scattered all over the place, and ironically, I was the one who was now soaked.I was now picking up the groceries and putting them back into bags. I then heard the sound of more of the groceries being picked up from behind me, it was unlike Rosko to be speechless. Usually, he would be yelling at me now.I pick up the bags I collected and turn around to see a boy who is not Rosko.'Hello' I said'Need help carrying them to the house?" He asked'Sure' I muttered kind of confusedI walked inside, and I was just about to tell him to leave it at the front door until he walked into my kitchen and put them down.
Rosko was sitting at the table, still drenched from before. He looked at me, snickering at my appearance, and then looked at the boy."I see that you've met Lathan."
