Chapter 3:
[RENEE's POV]
LEKNES LUFTAVN AIRPORT - LOFOTEN ISLANDS[3 PM]
After a 19-hours stretch flight, I finally reached my destination... The LOFOTEN islands, an archipelago known for its distinctive scenery with dramatic mountains and peaks, open sea and sheltered bays, beaches and untouched lands. It's capital and largest town, Svolvaèr, lies approximately169 Kms inside the Arctic Circle, or approximately 2,420 kms away from the North Pole, this making Lofoten one of the world's northernmost populated regions. Although lying within the Arctic Circle, the archipelago experiences one of the world's largest elevated temperature anomalies relative to its high latitude.
Ofcourse, the flight charges from New York to Lofoten was exceptionally expensive. If not for a sponsor to pop out in the middle of nowhere I would have never accepted such an expensive journey, coz I'm sure my father couldn't afford so much money. Even if he did, Stella wouldn't agree to it.
Collecting all my luggages, I rushed out expecting atleast a person holding a white board with my name in bold letters on it. I found nobody. I stood in a corner, as my eyes swept through the place for any sign of the person who should pick me. Failing on the attempt, I reached for my phone inside the bag, to call my dad. I remember him saying, " Since you are starting over a new place you might feel bit anxious. It's okay. There will be someone to pick you and he will be your care-taker. I need you to co-operate with him."
" But there's nobody here ", I muttered more to myself as I turned on the phone.
" Hiii~", a melancholy voice greeted me. I looked at the person standing before me. He had a golden blonde wavy hair with a few pecks of them falling off to block his eyes. A flirtatious smile constantly playing across his lips. He wore a torn-jeans and a black hoody on top of it with a matching white pair of sneakers, and a black earring stuck on his right ear giving him a cool look. He was tall and handsome perhaps still in his 20's.
Reaching out for my bags he said, " I am here to pick you. My name is Cave. And... You're welcome. " A sarcastic smile appeared on his face as he took me to his car.
I don't know much about cars. But from one glance I could say that the one I am about to ride in is a super expensive one.
Cave stuffed my luggage into the trunk and took the driver's seat. I sat beside him. Suddenly he leaned too close to me, both of our faces just inches apart.His ocean blue eyes turning into a darker shade of blue. Confusion swept his face as he bore his eyes deeper into mine, as if something was missing from its place. My heart beat faster and cheeks burned red. What is he doing? I froze in my seat not daring to move even a muscle. He slowly raised his arm forward as if to hold me. I shut my eyes tightly waiting for his touch, but it never happened. I slowly opened my eyes only when I heard a 'click'. Actually... he was helping me put my seatbelt. Completely flushed by his sudden action I hid my face in my palms. I peeped through my fingers to find him giving me a nasty smirk. No ... That was definitely not unintentional. After calming down, I shot a sharp glare at him and by the way he seemed to struggle holding his laughter back, I was now damn sure he did it intentionally. How I wish to smack his head now! Tch!
