Chapter 11: 11: I Can't Die Here!
"Sir Skie, we have surrounded the human from the shadows, what will be our next move, sir?"
"Let's wait a bit more, I want to see what this little hatchling could scheme up."
(*chuckels*)
The monsters we're lying in wait, like beasts hunting a rabbit, but what they did not take into account was that that same rabbit will be the one to eliminate them all.
"Ahhh...okay what to do now. When Logia explained how the system worked, I recall he said something thing about a skills section."
As soon as Sage finished his sentence a blue screen morphed out of the air.
[*ping*]
[*Skills*]
[*Self-created skills*]
[ Ground Break ]
Sage had discovered something fascinating about the system yet again.
"Wait! what!? I can create my skills!? This is awesome!"
But that was not the only thing the system could accomplish.
[*Obtained skills*]
[swift ]
[ stealth ]
[Regenerate]
"What!? aren't these the skills the Larsen I fought used!? I can obtain another being's skills!? Haha!! this is perfect, I'm getting excited!"
Sage opened his inventory an took out the core crystal.
[*ping*]
[ Larsen Lizard core crystal ]
[ Rank: 3 ]
[*Would you like to absorb?*]
{*Yes*} {*No*}
Sage was extremely determined to wipe out the monsters in front of him, he was more than prepared to devour the core crystal, but... He suddenly recalled what Logia said once again.
"Logia, whatever you were going to tell me about this crystal, I'll hear it later but for now I have to absorb it, I hope you'll forgive me."
(*Click*)
{*Yes*}
The core crystal evaporated into many particles, which entered Sage's body.
But something went wrong.
[*ping*]
[*You have been affected by Larsen Lizard's 100 types of poison*]
"Ugh! what!? Cough! cough! ahh...that sly lizard, it still had to get one in on me huh? cough!"
But it wasn't over yet, his blood began to boil, he felt intense pain all over his body.
"Augh! this hurts so much! but this sensation, why do I feel like I've experienced something similar, but a much more terrifying pain, wait I have, that was when I held onto..."
Before he could complete his sentence, the pain began to calm down, and a blue screen emerged.
[*ping*]
[*You have developed an immunity towards Larsen lizard's 100 types of poison*]
[ You have gained 20 Exp ]
[ Your health has increased by 120]
[ Your stamina has increased by 10 ]
[ Your agility has increased by 20 ]
[ Your strength has increased by 20 ]
Sage's status improved, making him ready for action. He opened his inventory once again and tapped on Darc's Legacy. The sword appeared out of thin air and landed onto his hands. He felt the overwhelming power that he once felt during his first dungeon mission.
He swiftly ran towards the monster named Skie, the leader of the rest.
But all that was just a diversion because the real Sage was not present at all. The real Sage was lurking in the shadows eliminating the monsters that were burrowed. He used his newly developed skill 'sensor' to track them down, and used 'swift' and 'stealth' to eradicate each one of them in secret.
[*ping*]
[*You have acquired the skill sensor*]
[Swift is activated]
[Stealth is activated]
[Sensor is activated ]
Without the leader's notice, Sage had already slaughtered all his underlings, with him left standing.
[*ping*]
[ You have eliminated the monsters 200/200 ]
[ You have acquired the skill clone ]
The expression on Skie's face seemed uneasy, not willing to accept reality.
"You... what did you do!? It's impossible, you were just running towards.''
Skie turned to look at the fraudulent Sage that was running towards him. But that figure already turned to ashes. The only thing that was left for them to do was to battle.
"You are quite a smart human, I have underestimated you, but it is time for you to die!".
And the battle commenced between them, they both moved at a speed that was faster than the human eyes can see.
(*swish*) (*clang*)
''I've got to finish as quickly as possible because I can feel Logia's aura depleting. And the barrier seems to also be on the verge of collapsing."
The barrier was indeed on the verge of collapsing, but the fight between Sage and Skie was very intense. It did not look like it was coming to an end until...
(*slash*)
Skie struck Sage on the chest with his claws, causing him to fall on the ground, coughing out an enormous amount of blood. Skie pointed his claws at him as Sage sat there in a defenceless manner.
"Any last words human?"
"I can't die here, cough! cough! I have too much to do."
The black sword responded to Sage's determination to live. It emitted black and ominous energy and began to speak.
"Human, use me."
"What? who's talking!?"
"What are you talking about? you're about to die and all you're worried about is a voice?"
"Use me now!"
"Huh? Drac are you the one talking?"
"Aye, it is I Drac, I could feel sir Logia's power-draining so I awoke from my slumber. But now is not the time for dilly-dallying we must eliminate this monster first and foremost."
A large amount of power poured into Sage because of this his powers evolved once more.
[*ping*]
[ Regenration is activated ]
[ Your stamina has increased by 400]
[ Your agility has increased by 400 ]
[ Your strength has increased by 400 ]
[ Your mana has increased by 5000 ]
[ Your intelligence has increased by 1000 ]
[Your dexterity has increased by 2000 ]
"What is this sudden surge of power!?"
"That is my aura boy, use it wisely"
"What!? only your aura!? Thank you, Drac."
Sage got up from the floor after dodging
Skie's strike. Now in terms of strength Sage was now on par with Skie.
"I guess it's time for you to die instead. Ahhh!"
(*slash*) (*clang*)
And the battle continued, Sage had the upper hand this time and Skie was pushed back. Sage was struck him making him lose his sword.
"Agh! my sword! you...you'll pay for this, master Tray won't let you get away with this!"
Sage stopped his sword as he was about to deliver the final blow. Pointing his sword at Skie, he started asking him questions.
"Is that so? do you know where he is?"
"Of course I do he's at #@#@"
The monster could not tell Sage Tray's whereabouts. There was something preventing from saying anything.
"Darn, he can't say it, it's probably Tray's doing. But he might be able to know other things in regards to the arrival of the monsters."
"Hey, when is your kind coming to earth?"
"Hah! like I'll tell you it's tomorrow, at precisely 6 pm... Oops."
"Thank you for having such low intelligence"
Sage was about to deliver the final blow when the monster said.
"Don't think you have won yet human! there are many more monsters that are even more powerful than me."
"Is that so? thank you for the information."
Sage said with a smile. And with that, he slashed Skie head off his body.
(*slash*) (*splat*)
[*ping*]
[ The leader has been defeated ]
[ You have protected the barrier ]
[ Missoin completed ]
[ Reward > 10Exp ]
[ You have gained 10 Exp ]
[ You have levelled up ]
[ You have levelled up ]
It was a great victory for Sage, but it wasn't the time for him to celebrate.
"Go, boy!"
"Drac?"
"Go meet sir Logia now! I cannot feel his aura!"
"What!?"
The barrier behind Sage shattered. At that moment Sage's face became pale, he rushed to where he placed Logia but he wasn't there.
"The cottage!"
Sage swiftly arrived at the cottage, there he found Logia laying on the grass, looking feeble and weak. His body began to slowly fade into the air.
Sage gently held Logia's head up and began to cry.
(*sob*)
(*sob*)
"Logia, are you going to leave me too? I promise I'll listen to you properly, and we still need to finish our roasted pork so, please wake up..."
(*sob*)
