Chapter 2: Chapter 1- An Invitation to Paragon

"So, let me guess?... You're going to that hero school" a dismayed voice echoed around the room.

My legs stopped swaying back and forth as my bittersweet smile meet his disappointed eyes. Without hearing my words he already knew my answer.

"I'll meet you there" he said wearing a more encouraged expression "Well, maybe not until my talent shows up"

I jumped off the table I was sitting on and landed just a couple feet away from him "Then... I'll wait for you there" I said as I let my pinky finger out.

"Promise?"

"I promise"

He intertwined his pinky finger with mine with a big unsure smile painted on his face. Right about now I know he's thinking hard about how he could fulfill this vow, but I know with his dedicated and hard headed nature, their may be a slight chance that we'd even go their together.

I smacked the table making the stationary organizedly placed rumble and fall off.

Oh my gosh, can someone shoot me right now!

"Aahhhhhh" I screamed in excitement and relief. I can't belive I'm holding an invitation letter to my dream school. This is like a freaking vision turned into reality. My guts are trembling in joy and I can feel my body lift up.

I feel like I'm floating!

The door banged open with my mom and dad's worried face.

"You little troublemaker! You scared us to hell!" my father exclaimed then let out a relieved sigh.

"So, what's with the overjoyed expression" my mom's hand crossed over her chest as she looks at me with a teasing smile "What made you super excited that you made all the things in your room float young lady?" she added.

My eyes widen as I looked around. Dang! She was right and I even made myself float. I face-palmed as I hear my parents chuckle.

"Come here" I let out my hand as dad pulled me to the ground "You really need to control that talent of yours sweetie. You can just unexpectedly float up to the sky without anyone noticing" he laughed as he tried to talk.

"Dad, I'm doing my best!" he raised an eyebrow and looked at me like I was lying "I'd progress further if you started training me" I grinned hoping that he would now say yes to that idea.

"I told you, we'd train you after you learn to control it" my mom said as she moved her hand to her hips. I let out a big sigh and looked down.

Maybe if they just teach me on HOW to control my powers. Everything would go swiftly.

"So, tell us what you've been so excited about" I raised my head with a curved lip and handed them the envelop.

"Ohh, looks like someone's going to Paragon" my mother exclaimed as she looked at me with proud eyes.

I placed my hand on my waist and gave them a very inspired expression.

"My daughter, following our footsteps" dad wiped his eyes acting all teary as mom chuckled.

A new chapter awaits for me. Soon I'll be as heroic as my parents, I would be just as cool as them, just imagine the people I can save, the smiles I would be receiving. Just thinking of it makes my heart flutter.

"Then, I think now's the right time to train you" my face lit up as I felt my body to once more lift off the ground. Dang! I really can't hide any emotions from my parents, whenever I feel over joyed I'd just float up, and when I feel mad things around me would just float vigorously. Well, not for long!

5:50 Tuesday morning. Alone at home cause mom and dad is on patrol, they left me some cooked bacon which is really appreciated.

I eat calmly with a smiled. They're always busy but still have loads of time for me. I heard some heroes hardly even have time to talk to their own child causing a very distant relationship to both sides. Luckily, my parents are different.

I packed my things and swiped the lunch my mom prepared for me. Before going out I looked at the mirror and fixed my tie "You look amazing!" I exclaimed to my reflection as I wiggle my eyes brows making me chuckle silently. I'm so weird.

On my way I pulled my phone out of my bag and scrolled over social media. A news about a new era of heroes filled my feeds, heroes that was about to graduate from the best hero school in the whole wide world. PARAGON.

I can just imagine me being their. It would be so freaking fun, new friends, and a lot more experiences. I can't wait!

"Your floating Syrine" I felt a grip on my skirt to which made me flinch. My eyes traced him from his finger to his biceps and to his snow white hair, he was facing away trying to avoid the fact that my body was elevated. Such a gentleman.

"JARRED!" I gushed quickly pushing myself to his back and tieing my hands around his neck "Oh, you won't belive what I am about to tell you!"

The wind whooshed passed us making me realize our conversation the other day. H-he didn't really like the idea that I'm going to Paragon without him.

"What happened?" he asked me in monotone.

No. No. No.

"L-let's talk about it later" I stuttered.

But... I have to tell him. We're the best of the best of friends, he would completely understand. I told him I'll wait for him there but it still kinda feels wrong to just leave him alone.

He replied with a shrug and pulled me down "My dad is starting to doubt my abilities" he let out a defeated sigh. My poor baby!

Jarred's parents are one of the most well-known heroes together with mine. Alongside they work together, and they want that relationship to continue via us.

Our parents build this relationship Jarred and I share, and I forever will thank them for that. You see, Jarred has no social and communication skills, others say that talking to him feels like talking to a wall. No reply, and no expression. That's another reason I don't want to leave him. He only talks to me, just me... And darn it took me a few years of bugging him.

"Dad thinks my talent won't show up" I saw his hands form fists with a hint of intensity in his expression "They keep telling me it's fine even though its not" I grabbed his arm and leaned on his shoulder "I still believe its just hiding inside you, waiting to spark" No. I'm not leaving him like this.

"What do you think your talent is?" I cheered trying to lift up the mood. I squeezed his wrist and leaned over to see his face.

He smiled when he noticed me "Uh-well I want it to be like dad" he scratched his nape and plastered an unsure smile.

His dad has always been his inspiration, his dad is able to control ice which is freaking awesome! While his mom has the ability to manipulate water. Their so perfect together.

And also, my dad can control the freaking weather, my mom can control gravity which I ahum have, and did I mention I have a brother that inherited my grandpa's talent which is controlling metal.

"With your white hair, ice suits you so much" I giggled spinning around him and continuing our walk.

"If you keep on doing that your gonna float. This time I won't pull you down you" he mentioned with a smug grin on his face making me pout.

"I'll hate you if you do that whitey"

"The hell you call me?" he hissed as I run for my precious life.
