Chapter 17: The Ex

CHAPTER XVII: The Ex

"Aren't you going to talk?"

I sighed.

I know that I'm the one who initiated that we should talk. So here we are, in his condo. I would love to ask him things that's been lingering in my mind for a couple of days now.

"Hey sweetheart, what's the matter?" Cameron held my elbows.

"I've been thinking, we still haven't talked about your past relationships." I held my chin.

"Uhuh. Why?" he asked questioningly.

"I just want to know, how many relationships have you experienced before me?" I asked while looking directly at his eyes. He seemed shocked at my question based from his reaction.

"Are you seriously asking me that?" he let out a nervous laugh.

"Yes. Do I look like I'm kidding?" I raised my eyebrow at him.

"No. It's just unusual that you're asking about my past relationships when I haven't heard you asked about it since we've been together. It's been what? Six months? It's just so unusual." He shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

"Well, I'm curious about it just now. So tell me." I demanded.

"O-Okay a-are you really s-sure?" he stammered.

"Definitely. Unless…" I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Unless what?"

"Unless you are hiding something from me?" I poked his chest repeatedly.

"What? Of course, not!" he shakes his head as a sign of annoyance. He then sighed.

"It's just that I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable or anything that may cause any problems between us." He added.

"No. I just really want to know more about you." I gave him a smile to assure him that it's okay. I heard him sigh in defeat.

"Okay. So I only had one serious relationship back then. With Olivia." He stared at me probably weighing what I felt toward on what he just said.

"Are you sure? Because there's a lot of rumors saying that you have a new girlfriend every time that they will see you. Mind you, they're talking about different girls every week." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Since when are you paying attention to the rumors about me, huh?" the sound of amusement can be heard from his voice.

"I'm not paying attention. It's just a coincidence that they are literally talking about you every time that I'm outside. At first, I didn't know that it was you they're talking about." I denied. Well, I started paying attention to all things that's connected to him since he introduced himself to me. I can't help but wonder why the hell he not wants me to cry over his friend. Ugh.

"Alright. Let's assume that it is purely coincidental." I felt him vibrated a little bit beside me. He must have held his laughter down to make me think that he agreed on what I said.

But I know better.

"Yeah right." I hissed.

"About that, they did not become my girlfriend at all." He said.

"What? You're kissing and holding their hand and yet you will tell me that they didn't become your girlfriend? You're unbelievable." I mentally slapped my forehead.

"What's the problem? Haven't you had flings?" he laughed.

I froze. I was taken aback on what he just said. I never thought that he's into such things. I thought he is the serious type of guy.

At first, I thought that he was called a playboy because he was seen with different girls and also the fact that he is handsome. I never thought that he is literally a playboy.

"I guess not…" he chuckled nervously.

"You are probably enjoying your life, eh?" I sarcastically said.

"Do not have the wrong idea." He said while crossing his hands. I laughed at his gesture. He sounds defensive.

"Well, the question is, when did you start doing flings?" I asked. Honestly, I'm nervous on what answer he would give me.

What if it's because of Olivia?

I don't know what I feel when that thought pops inside my head.

"Since my ex and I had broken up." I can feel that he's uncomfortable at the question I gave him but he still managed to answer it.

I'm right, by the way. My speculations were right. It is indeed because of his ex.

I smiled bitterly at myself.

There's something inside me that's building up. Maybe it's jealousy? I don't know. He must've loved her that much before that he got to the point that he's playing with girls when they broke up. Like he's trying to forget her that's why he did such things.

"Why?" I suddenly blurted out. He looked shocked at my reaction.

"I mean, why did you guys broke up?" I tried to sound natural but I can't hide the bitterness in my voice.

"You sure you want to know? I don't want us to be awkward or anything." He scratched his head.

"Yeah. Well, it's not a big deal for me. I just want to know more about you." I just shrugged my shoulders.

'It is a big deal.' I want to say it out loud but no. I don't want him to think that this topic is somehow affecting me badly.

"We broke up before she left to Australia. She wanted to chase her dream there. She said that she don't want any hindrances along the way that's why she broke up with me." He smiled. But it did not reached his eyes. I can feel his pain.

Why is he feeling that way when I'm right here with him? Do he still love her?

Geez, Blaire. What the hell are you thinking? Of course he don't anymore. You two are in a relationship already! Stop thinking about stupid things. You are just hurting yourself.

_____

"That's it? You didn't ask anymore?"

I sighed then shook my head.

Sapphire and I are here at a coffee shop near the academy. We both have the same free cut hours today that's why I called her to meet me here.

I told her what Cameron said. I told her every detail of the talk I had with Cameron last week.

It's been a week already. Cameron and I were okay, I think?

We don't usually go out that much because next week, the final exams will be held. I'm not sure if we're okay like super okay because he's a little bit distant from me these days. We barely see each other which is I understand because we need to prepare for next week. What I mean is he barely take me home or eat with me. We're in the same campus and yet he can't spend time with me?

"Well, I know that. I know that Olivia is the reason behind it so nothing new." Saph sighed.

Oh. So it's just me who doesn't know.

Sapphire was sipping her coffee when she suddenly froze in her seat. She's looking directly at me.

'What?' I mouthed but she didn't responded. Or maybe she is looking behind me.

So I turned around to see what she was looking at.

There I saw a tall girl who's at the counter, probably ordering. She's tall but why does she still have to wear heels? Her skin is brown. She has pinkish lips, sharp nose, and brown eyes. Hell, she has a well-defined features. She's gorgeous!

"Who is it? She looks like a model." I asked Saph.

"T-That's… Ugh we should go. Come on." She stood up then pulled me up and we started walking towards the exit.

But just when we're about to reach the door, I felt my shirt getting wet.

I looked up to see who it was and there I saw Olivia who is smirking. When she noticed my stare, she instantly changed her reaction from being amused to being worried.

Is she an actress? She's good at pretending.

Luckily, the coffee is cold brewed so it doesn't hurt but the heck? It looks like she intentionally poured it on me!

"Oops… Sorry, I didn't mean it."
