Chapter 10: STRONGHOLD VILLAGE
Luke was disappointed. His first attempt to be by his mate's side did not succeed. He knows he can't attend all Selena's classes. It might look very suspicious if he is there with her everywhere she goes. At the end he decided to go back to Dean Furwood's office where his Beta is patiently waiting.
"How's the first class?". Drew asked him after he returned. He was staying at the Dean's office for more than an hour without any news from his Alpha.
"Not good". He honestly told him.
"What happened?".
Luke sighed deeply and put his hands on both sides of his waist. "Do I look ugly?". He answered him with a question.
Luke's question made Drew laughed out loud. Until he heard him growl. He stopped and looked at him again. He assessed that his question is serious.
"Let me guessed.... While the other female are lusting over you.... Your Mate ignored you!". Drew's wild guess always hit the perfect spot.
"Urgh..... I'm defeated". Luke who never felt so sorry for himself before is now in agony.
"This is just the first day. Don't worry much about it. There's still a lot of days for you my friend besides you've waited for twenty six years will you give up now?". Drew quickly gave him a word of advice. He's afraid Luke might lose his calm again. If that happens he will surely go round and round again with him in the forest in the middle of the night just to calm his Alpha.
Luke run and patrolled the forest himself when he is angry or feel uneasy and if the Alpha run the Beta must follow too. This habit of his Alpha lessen Drew's time with his own mate, Sylvia.
Dean Furwood is just listening to them but something is running inside his mind. He composed an idea to make his nephew and Selena to be with each other without any hindrance and he knows who's the man he needs to talk to.
The day passed by again and Luke has no progress at all. Selena is not like other girls who can easily sweep under their feet. She have a strong will and looks alone won't move her.
The next day.
"Class the school allow us to study life and different kind of species in the woods this coming weekend". Mr. Medina halted because all the students were shouting for joy. "Better ask permission for your parents early and tell them we will stay in Stronghold Village so they will not going to worry too much". He pause again and simply looked at Selena. "The stake here is A+... if you complete the requirements.... And lastly, you will be in groups of three. Make sure to watch and help each other there". Then he resigned.
At first Selena thought. 'Are we in the middle school?'. But after hearing the stake. Her eyes glitter. "I don't care if I work alone, I will get that prize for myself". She confidently told herself.
Dean's office.
Luke doesn't know if he wants to jump for joy or kill someone after learning about the trip his uncles planned for him. The idea is very tempting but there's a hidden danger in letting Selena go to their Village.
"It's your choice man.... This is a good opportunity for you". Drew totally agree with Dean's Furwood idea. Mr. Medina already arranged who will be Selena's partners it will be Clint and Kevin. Even though they are quite naughty they are still a pack members and sons of great warriors. Besides they already believed that Mark already talked to his friends about their secret mission.
Luke think again carefully it will be a three days tour in and out of their Village. A very big opportunity for him to be near his mate. "Okay, I just hope her mother would allow her".
That's the part they forgot to think about.
Lunch time.
Selena alone as always in her own table seems to be in daze. She didn't noticed some pair of eyes are watching her nor heard those giggling little girls inside the canteen.
She sighed deeply. Until a box fell on her table. She was startled.
"Mark!". She shouted his name so loud everyone in the canteen area looked at her but she ignored them. She saw him leaving already after tossing a box to her.
Mark stopped but didn't move. He waited for her to say his name again and so she called him again. Slowly he turned around. "What?". He answered coldly.
Selena felt embarrassed with her behavior before the last time they've met. "I'm sorry". She stood up. "I know I was an ass before but hey, it's not entirely my fault".
Mark smirked. "Are you really apologizing or blaming me?". He never knew she can be a funny person.
"Both of course!". She blurted it out. And she heard him laugh.
Mark stopped laughing after he felt some killing intent towards him. His Alpha, he look so unhappy today.
Selena offers her a seat and he took it. "Did your Mom made this?". She asked excitedly.
"Yup".
Selena took out the strawberry cupcake and made a huge bite on it then savor the bursting flavor inside her mouth. She then lick the side of her lips and also the tip of her fingers. This food really can erase her stress away.
"Thanks for this!". She said happily. She didn't even bother to asked him if she can eat it already.
"No prob!". Mark can't helped but grin. She's the first person who can make his mother's strawberry cupcake taste very delicious just by watching her eat. Although his mother is a good baker, strawberry flavors are not their best sellers in their shop. Only after they find out that their future Luna loves strawberry flavored food that his mother began to create cupcakes with strawberry.
On the other side of the canteen. Luke gulped down hard while watching her Mate munch down the cupcake. Then he saw her lick the side of her lips. Her pinkish tongue look so sweet in his eyes. And the way he lick her fingers gives him shivers down his spine. A low growl came out from him. His wolf is getting insane and so do he.
"Relax... She'll be yours one day. She just need to see you and be with you, for her to find out where she truly belongs".
Luke gazed at Drew. His Beta's words always makes him calm. He thought maybe because his Beta already has a mate that's why he understands him. They continue to watch Mark and Selena.
"Hey, I noticed you look a bit worried?". Mark asked Selena. He noticed her in daze when he gave her the cupcake.
Selena sighed before she answer. "The weekend trip".
"Are you worried your Mom won't let you..... I can talk to her, that is if you want".
A gentle smile flashed on Selena's lips. She can't believed there's a nice side in him. "She will allow me of course.... It's just that I'm... She will be alone at home". Worries conquered her emotions.
Mark already knows what's bothering her. It's not the trip but her mother. He was glad to know that Selena has a good heart for a daughter. "Don't worry Clawed City is a safe place. But if you're really that worried I can ask my uncle to run his patrol car in your street. He's a cop". Mark said proudly.
"Really, that would be awesome... Thank you very much!". Selena's face light in glee. She's so grateful to his suggestion. She feels calm now knowing someone will look out for Erin.
"Then problem solved?". Mark saw her nod and flashed her most sincere smile. Then he looked at his Alpha and Beta on the other side of the canteen. He noticed them nod.
'Mission accomplished!'. He thought.
Selena and Erin's house.
"Really your going to the Stronghold Village?". Erin can't believed what her daughter just told her.
"Aren't you going to whine and yell at me and tell me I can't go?". Confusion was written all over Selena's face. Her mother looked so happy that she's going away.
"Me... stop... you?". Erin laughed so hard she even hold her stomach.
"Mom!... Aren't you afraid I might get raped there or something!".
"You?.... raped?.... I don't think so with your attitude those criminals might surrender themselves to the police whole heartedly". She said without blinking an eye.
"You are the most unbelievable mother I have ever met". Selena was so surprised with Erin's words. She don't know if she will laugh or cry knowing her opinion. She feels like grabbing her own hair and bang her head to the wall and see if she will care, but she choose not to do it. "Am I the ugliest daughter you have ever seen, even criminal won't take fancy of me?".
"Of course not you are the most beautiful in my eyes..... I just don't know in other people's eyes though?". Erin's eye balls rolled on the side.
"GRRRRRR....."
Erin laughed like there's no tomorrow seeing her daughter's irritated face. She really loves to tease her daughter until she go crazy.
"Okay I already had my fill". She suddenly hug her daughter and kissed her forehead. She saw how stunned Selena was.
"Mom". Selena calmed down after Erin kissed her. She loves this side of her of being gentle.
"I am not worried because I heard that Stronghold Village is a safe place and it's a privilege for the towns people to be invited there. Besides they are the old people of this town who protects the forest of this land. I believed they are nice people". Erin is running her fingers in Selena's soft long hair. "Besides you didn't study taekwondo for nothing. My baby girl is a black belter, who wants to mess with you". She grin widely.
"Will you be okay here alone?". Worries fill Selena's eyes.
"Is that the real reason you don't want to go?.... You don't want to leave your mother alone?". Erin was so touched she wanted to cry but she held it in. She never showed Selena her softest side.
"Yes because I know how clumsy you are!". It's payback time she thought. "If a robber comes by I am so sure you will even help him to bagged everything here". Selena rolled her eyes and then crossed her arms to her chest. She won't admit that she was really worried. She'll just teased her instead.
"Ouch!". Erin holds her chest like it really hurts. "I almost cried, I thought you love me that much to worry for me!". She laughed again. Though she understands her daughter well. "You can go and shake those big butt of yours in their faces. I heard there's a lot of male gods living there". Then she run to the other side of the counter.
"Mom!!!!!".
