Chapter 3: Why are you blushing?

"This is an absurd behavior!" Dae Hyuk mumbled with a fretful tone.

Yeon was amused enough to witness him panicking with his grasp. "I thought you were brave enough, but you totally chickened out." He tried to tease him.

Dae Hyuk immediately tried to restrain his panic and tried to act more stout. "Hey, I am not scared! I am a detective and I have been dealing with many criminals. It's just that I have never encountered a real grim reaper. But if you intend to kill me now, just remember, you can't kill a human without any proper reason. That is a crime in our world." He was blurting out nonchalantly.

Yeon moved a little closer to him and stared intensely for a while. He leaned his head a bit lower as Dae Hyuk was comparatively shorter than him in height. He moved his face closer to him.

BADUMP!

Suddenly Dae Hyuk's heart unknowingly throbbed hard as he saw Yeon staring at him without even a blink. "F*ck, why is my heart fluttering when a grim reaper is looking at me? I should be scared and instead, my heart is throbbing. Am I being too single and workaholic all these years that my mind has already gone crazy?" He was thinking with a frowned expression.

"Wh-Why are you looking at me like that?" Dae Hyuk tried to inquire in a lower voice.

"Stop chattering, just look at me," Yeon answered still gazing at him.

"Wh-Why? Do you want to dedicate a romantic song for me?" Dae Hyuk reciprocated as he was desperately trying to avoid eye contact with him.

"Ughh, you are so annoying!" Yeon firmly grabbed his cheeks while stopping from turning his face away. He wanted to have proper eye contact with him but he was continuously moving his face away which was disturbing his concentration.

With the unexpected reaction from Yeon, Dae Hyuk's cheeks along with his ears completely reddened in shyness. He had no choice but to make firm eye contact with him as he was gripping his cheeks with his cold hand.

Yeon quickly noticed his flustered face and sneered impishly. "Are you blushing? First, you chickened out and now you are blushing, you are really weird." He mumbled in a sly voice.

"Then why are you acting like a jerk? What do you intend to do?" Dae Hyuk snapped at him while pouting.

Immediately Yeon's eyes changed into bluish coloration as he was gawking at him. A deep blue cold flame appeared in his right arm by which he was holding Dae Hyuk's hand. He was using his hypnotic powers on him to erase his memories about their fateful meeting.

"Look at me carefully, you are going to forget about everything... Forget about our meeting, don't remember a single detail." He was chanting aloud in his mind with an intensified gaze towards him.

Dae Hyuk was scared at first with his supernatural power but soon he realized something even more stunning.

The hypnotic powers were totally ineffective on him! He wasn't getting affected for even a bit!

"Umm, Mr. Yeon, this flame is quite cold. It feels like I am holding on to an ice cube." He mumbled softly.

Suddenly Yeon rolled his eyes in shock and jolted away from him. His eyes resembled too surprised while ogling at Dae Hyuk.

"Aren't you hypnotized?" He inquired in a fearful voice.

"Umm, it seems that your powers didn't work on me. I feel sad for you, Mr. Yeon. But the flame indeed gave a chilling sensation, can you do that again?" Dae Hyuk smirked with a foxy grin and stretched out his right arm this time.

Yeon glared fiercely at him for a while. He scrunched his eyebrows before roaring, "who the hell you are? Why are you so different from the rest of the humans?"

"Ahh, I am indeed a bit special from the rest of the others as I can see ghosts. So, perhaps, that's why your powers don't work on me. Okay, let's calm ourselves down first. Do you wanna grab some pork noodles? It will be a treat from me." Dae Hyuk walked closer to him while asking for his company in a cheeky tone.

This time Yeon seemed to be a bit afraid of him and immediately stepped back. "He looks completely crazy." He wondered.

Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, Yeon disappeared in thin air before him.

Dae Hyuk rolled in eyes wider in surprise to witness such a surprising phenomenon before him. "He-Hey, this is cheating! You can't just disappear on me like this, Mr. Yeon! Hey! You jerk!" He screamed aloud a few times while looking all around him but there was no trace of him.

There were some passersby who were walking past him and glanced at him with pitiful eyes as if he looked like a mentally impaired guy to them.

"I just wanted to treat him some noodles, how dare he just disappear on me like that? But the world is pretty small. I am sure I will find you again, Mr. Coward Reaper!" He headed towards his home at a slow pace while nagging all alone.

As he left the area, Yeon silently peeked at him from the back while hiding behind a streetlight, a bit far away from the spot.

As soon as Dae Hyuk left, he sighed heavily in relief. "He is a totally crazy guy! I have to stay alert now, I can't be involved with him any further. He is much scarier than a grim reaper!" He muttered in a deep breath.
