Prologue
So the girl began, her heart filled with so much pain the sky shed all the tears her eyes never did, her mind filled with the many faces of those who never believed in her in such a light that they all felt the tremors of the earth unleashing the strength that she had to reign in, and every part of her body, muscle, blood, and bone, working to the point of exhaustion and beyond in such a way that the trees swayed and faltered out of sadness when she refused to.
That night, the young not-quite-a-teenager knew that there was no turning back, and she knew that through sacrificing her own self expression, she would grow stronger to the point where, one day, she would prove to everyone that she was not to be underestimated. Gone was her futile anger, and she was filled to the brim with emptiness and consuming determination.
Up above watched the Most Powerful. He was surprised at her depth of feeling, and, as one lone thunderbolt struck the ground, whispers fell into His ear. The ancient ground, trees, oceans, rains, and all of nature with the Spirits whispered to Him. "She is to be gifted. The Lion's heart and your mind lie within her."
He knew then, at that moment, the girl would work hard. But how hard? With finality, as lightning struck the ground, He whispered back. "She will be gifted, when the time comes, when she has exhausted every limit, but there will be many challenges to face after she receives the Lion's Gift."
