Chapter 4: Part 4 - Discretion

Throughout the school year Gwydion and Ganon spent quite a considerable amount of time together. Though they found it quite hard at times to the point where they almost stopped seeing each other. They enjoyed being able to be together without all the prying eyes and ears.

Meanwhile Ganon's friend and fellow Slytherin Ash-Strix spent most of his time looking for Ganon rather than talking to girls he likes. He would get so frustrated with Ganon that he would lash out when no one is about. He suspected Ganon might be attracted to boys, but he chose not to believe it. He wants to confront Ganon everytime he is with Ganon, but something always comes up and gets in the way.

The triplets weren't always together, they would split up to cover more ground then regroup to share the details. They would also take it in turns to spy on the pair trying to conceal themselves. There were times when they were not successful as other things drew their attention. Phillip was more sensible of the three and wanted to tell Gwydion and Ganon the truth. However, Oliver and Olin wanted to continue spying as they wanted to see what's going on.

There was one early evening he noticed the triplets of Ravenclaw walking together, but what confused him was when they split off and headed in different directions. He thought 'That's strange the triplets never leave each others side, I wonder what's going on.' Ash-Strix cautiously followed Olin as he was on his own.

Just as Ganon and Gwydion had found their spot they were unaware that the triplets of Ravenclaw were lurking. A rule of theirs '2 out of 3 majority rules', in which they had decided to use after countless arguments that resulted in them physically fighting. They thought this was the best way for them to decide on anything. They used to take so long to decide what to do that they often missed out on certain things because of it.

One evening Ganon and Gwydion decided they would just go to the room of requirements and just gaze into each other's eyes, little did they know Olin and Ash-Trix was watching them. Ash-Strix screwed up his face when he saw Ganon entering the room with Gwydion. 'He's a traitor to his kind being with that mudblood' he muttered to himself. He stormed off back to the courtyard and paced about thinking how best to confront him.

--- o0o ---

"Ganon? I have been thinking about this for quite sometime now and I have been waiting for the right time…" Gwydion started and paused for a moment as they walked further into the room.

"Gwydion, you can say anything to me," Ganon said with a smile. Gwydion smiled awkwardly at him.

"I don't know if you feel the same way…" he paused again, his mouth felt like it was drying out and his heart beating a little faster. "Ganon, I … I … I … have … feel… I..I.. mean I… I… L.. love... you." Gwydion stuttered. Ganon stared at Gwydion smiling.

"That's no secret Gwydion I have known how you felt towards me, Your not good at hiding your emotions. I have feelings for you too. In fact - I think I am in love with you too," Ganon confessed.

Gwydion didn't know what to say, he tried to open his mouth, to say the words back but no sound came out. Ganon smiled as he leaned forward to kiss Gwydion like there was no tomorrow. Gwydion's watch beeped and they pulled apart slowly.

"It's that the time…" Gwydion gasped looking at his watch. "I think we better get ready for our first class Ganon, we've been here all night." Ganon looked at him a little disappointed.

"I guess you're right Gwydion, our friends will be wondering where we have been as well," he said with a sigh.

"Good point, didn't think about that, but being with you just feels right. I feel comfortable around you and you alone..." Gwydion quickly covered his mouth realizing he said it out loud.

Ganon smiled "As am I with you," he said with a gentle kiss.

That same evening as they walked out of the room of requirements Ganon and Gwydion heard voices nearby, they turned around and heard footsteps coming closer. They walked quickly in the other direction, Gwydion turned to look back "looks like they stopped,

"I don't think it was them, but let's just carry on walking, Ash-Strix doesn't know I like boys yet"

"That's ok neither does Hawthorn" Gwydion looked back once more.

Olin was running towards Ganon and Gwydion when suddenly he bumped into the headmaster, Professor Larch.

"Er...S...sorry...Professor" Olin stuttered out

"And just where do you think you are heading in such a rush?" Professor Larch asked suspiciously. He stood quiet.

"Erm... I was just off to the common room sir," Olin lied then walking around the headmaster to try and catch up to Ganon and Gwydion.

As Ganon and Gwydion grew closer and more intimate they had found it harder and harder to keep it to themselves, especially as one was more ambitious than the other in their relationship, neither one wanted to leave each other. Ganon wanted everyone to know, but was waiting for Gwydion to be ready.

Ganon knew what he had to do but he needed Gwydion to open up a bit more to commit to the next level, Ganon felt Gwydion's hands move closer to his own, barely touching but then Gwydion pulled-away. Gwydion felt his heart pumping fast, he breathed in and out for several mins to calm himself. Suddenly they were confronted by Ash-Strix followed by Hawthorn closely behind.

"Hawthorn?" Gwydion said in shock.

"Ash-Strix…what are you doing with Hawthorn?" Ganon greeted.

Ash-Strix scowled at Ganon then faced Hawthorn and side stepped a few paces away.

"Just where have you been all night?" Ash-Strix and Hawthorn said in unison looking at them, then at each other as they finished the sentence snarling at one another.

Gwydion stuttered struggling to get their story straight, Ganon looked at Gwydion. Ganon placed his hand on Gwydion's shoulder, Gwydion's eyes were filled with tears as he was nervous and turned to face Ganon.

"Gwydion, let me handle this," Ganon said as he nodded towards Hawthorn. Gwydion took a deep breath.

"W...well I… I... went for a stroll after the feast as you know," Gwydion took a deep breath, "I sort of got lost and if it wasn't for Ganon, I'd probably wouldn't have made it here for my first class"

Ganon stared at Gwydion wide-eyed, he smiled and nodded at Ash-Strix and Hawthorn. Hawthorn believed the story, but Ash-Strix wasn't so sure. Ash-Strix knew something else was going on.

"Hey, Gwydion we better get going?" Hawthorn said in a hurry. "Looks like Ash wants to talk to Ganon alone" Hawthorn finished.

Gwydion nodded and looked at Ash then to Ganon. "Go on I'll be fine" Ganon winked.

As Gwydion and Hawthorn walked off, Gwydion turned his head and saw Ash-Strix move towards Ganon, Gwydion was worried to say the least.

"What do you have to say for yourself Ganon?" Ash-Strix spoke loudly

Ganon stood in silence for a moment, "Well what can I say, you caught me red-handed, there's no denying that I was with Gwydion, a Gryffindor." Ganon responded honestly with cockiness.

Ash-Strix scowled at him "Don't start getting cocky, we are on the same team, at least I thought we were. Tell me what's going on with you and the m...Gwydion?"

Ganon knew what he was going to say "Don't ever use that word again Silver Ash-Strix. If you must know, I've just been talking to Gwydion, trying to help him build some confidence in himself."

"Don't lie to me Ganon!...You like him don't you? I've seen you with a couple girls before but I've never seen you look at girls the way you do with the Gwydion"

"Seems like you already have me figured out, Yes I do love him, is that so wrong. Yes it shocked me at first, but I feel happier and Gwydion is comfortable around me."

Ash-Strix stared at Ganon with a surprised look on his face and for the first time Ash-Strix had nothing to say he was speechless. Ganon also stood quietly waiting for an answer, but when Ash-Strix didn't respond Ganon broke the silence.

"Ash! Please say something, you're my best mate I still need you," Ganon pleaded feeling humiliated. Ash-Strix face went sour and snapped.

"Best Mate? If I'm your 'best mate' then why don't you tell me anything, I don't want to lose you …as a mate ...I mean" Ash felt the need to elaborate. "So I'm still waiting for a proper answer from you" Ash retorted impatiently.

"Well you know already, but yes I'm in love with Gwydion, he's the first boy I've been with so it's all new to me too."

"Finally, it's out," Ash yelled

"Well just you and hopefully Hawthorn as well," Ganon corrected.

"It's getting late now, let's go back to the common room" Ash said

They walked silently back and headed to their beds.

--- o0o ---

Meanwhile back at Gryffindor, Hawthorn was chatting to Gwydion in the bedroom. They were laughing when suddenly their conversation started to get serious. When it was only them in the room, Hawthorn turned to him.

"So Gwydion, you know me, I'm not one to nose in your business. I couldn't help but notice how close you and Ganon were, I don't mind you hanging around with him of course," said Hawthorn. There was silence for a moment before Gwydion started speaking.

"Well we have been seeing each other there's no denying that and I do really like him, as in…" Gwydion paused for a moment before continuing, "...I really like him, like him"

"Aw thats so cute, I always thought you were different, I'm glad that you told me. I'm happy for you, looks like he does make you feel happy."

"Thank you Hawthorn, that means a lot to me. He does make me feel happy and more confident about myself, he was the first person ever to notice me when I boarded the Hogwarts Express," Gwydion explained openly.

"Wow that's a wonderful story," Hawthorn yawned

"Thanks, I really don't want to mess things up," Gwydion yawned also

"I'm sure you won't, you can tell me more tomorrow after I've had my rest,"

"Ok night Hawthorn" As Gwydion laid on his bed tiredly but finding it hard to sleep thinking about all the possible things that could go wrong.

"Ganon? ...Ganon? ...Where are you?" Gwydion shouts frantically as he searches all round looking for Ganon. Gwydion tries to find someone to help him but there's no one about, no other students, no professors it was just him alone. Gwydion was worried and scared, he could feel a part of Ganon's presence, he couldn't hear him, he couldn't see him but he could feel him. Gwydion was so confused and sat down on the stairwell with his head between his knees..

Gwydion shot upright with a frantic look on his face and a tear running down his face. He gave a sigh of relief as soon as he realised it was a dream.

"You ok Gwydion?" Hawthorn asked

Gwydion took a breath and managed to say "Yeah I think so ...just a bad dream…" He then jumped out of bed and changed into his robes ready to start the day.
