Chapter 2: Chapter 1

Majica School for the royals, A High school only for beings of royal blood. It was very big in size, bigger than most castles to support the many students that attended it. There was a dormitory building just at walking distance. A water area for the mermaids was nearby and many other facilities to accommodate any student's needs.

Shortly after the school year had started. A strange entity had arrived at the school campus. A being, wearing a big suit of armor, concealing his face and body completely. The armor was dark grey, with some rose patterns graved into the enchanted metal. The person was at least 6 feet tall. And flame wings were attached to the back. The armored entity may look scary, but inside was a delicate, fragile hearted boy who only wishes to be accepted.

He made his way in the halls, receiving stares from the students. All were confused by this stranger,

"Who is that..?" Some whispered amongst themselves.

"It's a new student?"

"I don't know.."

The boy continued his way, holding his personal effects in his armoured arms. The students dared not to approach the giant figure, in fear of the consequences. A few minutes passed and he arrived at the office of the headmaster of the school. A Grand Fairy. The armored boy knocked on the door to let his presence be known.

'Oh? Who's there?" The older fairy questioned as he turned to see the armor. "Oh, you must be the new student...correct?" He asked unsure as he floated down to his desk.

The boy simply nodded as he shut the door. No sound coming from him at all. The grand fairy questioned the student in his head, asking himself many questions.

"Take a seat and we'll get you sorted." He offered the seat and began to look at the files. "Allow me to present myself, I am Headmaster Mercury, I've been directing this school for over 30 years now." He spoke proudly. The boy listened with a smile under his helmet. "And who might you be?"

The boy began to sign with his hands, but not the normal sign language, but a version imbued with magic. Anyone nearby him will immediately understand the signing, even if they do not know how to sign. It was a passive spell, which is harmless and is always on.

'My name is Mairu." He signed. Mercury was shocked.

"Oh my! What is this? Fascinating." He spoke quite shocked that he understood a non-existent form of sign language.

'It is a spell sir, it is always active so I can communicate to others.'

"Simply marvelous! Now, let's begin the registration of your papers. So your name is Mairu. What royal family do you come from, young man?" The question began to make Mairu quite uncomfortable, like it was something bad. Headmaster Mercury took note of that.

'Can I ask you...to keep a secret?' The boy signed. The old man was a bit concerned by this. His nervousness was something he noticed a lot.

"Of course, to make you feel a little at ease, I'll make a promise spell." Mercury offered, the boy was in shock. A promise spell can be quite dangerous. It can harm the person that breaks the promise in many ways. "I shall cast it on myself, meaning if I break the promise, I will lose a hand."

'You don't have to do that!' He signed in a panic. He was really grateful for the humble sacrifice, but he thought it was a bit much just for one secret.

"Nonsense, a secret is a classified thing, I have no right to share it, no matter how dire it may be." He smiled warmly as he castes the spell on himself, chanting some words before looking at the boy. "Now, tell me, what is this secret of yours?"

Mairu grew nervous. To go to such lengths to protect one's secret. That was a sign he can trust this grand fairy. He began to sign.

'I am.. A demon. The son of the Demon King.' He signed, looking away, afraid of his reaction. Under his helmet, he was wincing as if he was about to be hurt. Headmaster Mercury paused for a moment, to process the information he just received..

"I will say. I am surprised." He smiled. The terrified boy looked towards the Headmaster to see his display of compassion. "All Demons are deemed as bad. But you, you're quite the opposite. Tell me Prince Mairu, May I ask what brought you here?" He said as he floated him and his chair next to the anxious boy. A demon, with a good heart and soul, that was something you don't see everyday. Mairu began to explain in detail, why he wanted to be here. He explained everything, about the beauty of the surface, how he wanted to be treated the same way he would treat others, with kindness and compassion. How he'd never hurt anyone. The Grand Fairy was taken back, even through his signs, he could feel the pain and curiosity this boy had bottled up.

"Well, one thing that is for sure, you will attend this school." He said with a smile. Mairu stared him in the eyes, his eyes watering under his helmet. The first being in decades to ever be kind and understanding, not rejecting him for being a demon, let alone the son of the Demon King. The prince began to sob under his helmet. He just wanted to let everything out. The Headmaster patted his armored back. "Now, Let's get all your files in order. You'll be able to move in your dorm soon enough."

'Thank you so much Headmaster Mercury. I...You are too kind to me.' He signed shakily, unable to process the kindness and compassion he was being shown for the first time in ages.

"It's the least I could do. You were very brave for telling me this. You have my respects." He said as he completed his paperwork. Multiple papers and documents floating around with a feathered pen. "Question, do you mind taking your armor off-"

'The armor stays on." He cut off the man fast. He had no intentions of taking it off.

"Right sorry. Students aren't allowed to wear such heavy equipment unless it is for a particular reason, but regarding your situation, it would be best for you to keep it on. Though I must say, I love the roses on it."

'Thank you, it represents the first thing I ever saw when traveling to the surface. So I made my own armor with it engraved on it.' He replied, He stood up to let the fairy take a better look.

"Does it contain any enchantments?" He questioned.

'It does, An anti-magic enchantment, to prevent others from using mind spells, or any mischievous spells on me.' He informed Mercury. The man circled around him.

"May I test the enchantment?" He asked, he may be the Headmaster, but he had a weakness for any interesting magic or enchanted items. The armored boy nodded as he spread his arms out. As the man was going to cast, someone interruptly opened the door.

"Headmaster Mercury! We must discuss-" They stopped at the sight of Mercury about to cast a spell at Mairu. They both turned to the entity. "What on Earth is going on here!?"
