Chapter 24: First 'Real' Kiss

Hermione hooked her arms around her unsuspecting mate's neck before pulling him down to meet her lips with his.
Draco couldn't describe the euphoria he felt when his lips molded perfectly with hers. Even though caught in surprise, he immediately reciprocated the eagerness he got attacked with by his mate. The one whom he dreamed about, day and night. The lips he fantasized about were finally on his own and, this feeling was captivating.
Intoxicated with ecstasy, he wrapped his arms around Hermione's petite waist, pulling her closer than it was physically possible.
A low groan escaped his mouth when Hermione pulled on his hair lightly, herself lost in the moment.
Drunk on the feeling, they both continued exploring each other's mouths as their tongues battled for dominance. The rain pelted around them as the lovers remained oblivious to anything other than themselves.
Breaking the kiss, the two separated their yearning lips, breathing heavily, trying to fill their lungs with the precious life source.
"Hermione Granger, should I believe this to be you accepting the mate bond?" Draco asked his silver eyes peeping in her chocolate ones, looking for even a trickle of the feelings he had reflecting in hers. He searched and, he found, not just a trickle but an entire ocean full of emotions swimming in the pool of her eyes, at par with his own.
Even with the deep blush coating her cheeks, very much visible to her Veela mate's enhanced eyes, Hermione smiled cheekily.
"I don't know, should I? Accept the bond? Accept you? Why should I do that?" she asked playfully, removing her arms from around him before turning around and crossing them across her chest, the smile never leaving her face.
Draco stepped forward and encircled his arms around Hermione, her back to his chest and rested his chin on her shoulder.
"Because I love you, and you love me."
Hermione felt her heartbeat quicken as if it wasn't beating fast enough before.
"And how do we know that?"
"Because I will always put you before anything and anyone. Because I will let you call me 'a foul, loathsome evil little cockroach,' and punch me anytime you want. I will always love you with all my being and cherish you till the end of time. My heart beats for you and only you, literally. And you kissed me."
"Alright then, Yes, I assent our bond."
"You do know that I will never let you leave me now, right? You're all mine now."
"I think I am aware of what I entered."
"Then, good luck to you, Darling," hearing the mischief in his voice Hermione confused, tried to look back at him, but before she could, she got spun around, and her mate swooped in for another kiss.

Later that evening-
A squeal rang in the previously silent common-room, making the two boys look up from their chess game.
Hermione slapped her forehead with her hand, internally scolding herself for not using it at the right time to clap her friend's mouth shut.
"What's gotten you to be so giddy?" Ron questioned, eyeing his sister suspiciously.
This time Hermione did subtly pinch Ginny before the girl could spill everything out to the two like water from a bucket with a hole. A big one.
"OUCH!" the redhead howled in pain, rubbing the red spot while jerking away from the evil clad in innocence.
"Nothing! Oh, dear! Is that the time? We'll get late for dinner. I don't know about you guys, but I am famished."
"But...-"
"Come on, off we go," Hermione said as she ushered her friends out with her towards the dining hall.
"Gosh! Hermione, have some trust in me. I wasn't going to spill anything." Ginny whispered as she walked beside the brunette, who sheepishly apologized to the glaring girl.

During dinner,
"You didn't tell us about your date Hermione?" Harry questioned as he stuffed a spoonful of mashed potatoes in his mouth.
"You went on a date?" Ivan sharply asked as he looked up from his plate.
Hermione stopped in the middle of her bite her spoon in mid-air as she gawked. Like a deer caught in the headlights.
Instead of putting her spoon down and speak as anyone else would have, even if through stutters, she didn't do that.
She raised her hand that held the spoon and closed her mouth around it. She chewed the food, slowly, steadily, she softened the food with her saliva.
And she chewed some more before finally trying to swallow it down.
And then she choked.
