Chapter 1: 1
"You don't have to be tough anymore! You don't have to keep pushing me away! Stop fighting this, just breathe," Tears threatened to escape as I looked up at Saint. The man I barley knew, but already loved so deeply.
"You don't get it! I have to- I have to be like this for the pack" He yelled, but it slowly turned into a whisper.
My heart burned at those words. Like a torch was digging into my chest. "Saint, the pack would want you to have your mate!"
Walking closer to him, he started walking backwards. Farther and father away from me. The one he's supposed to love forever. The two strings that connect our hearts slowly burning away from the torch.
Saint finally stopped backing away. His breath was shallow and his face was red from the heat building up in the room. "Elizabeth, you make me weak... I cant be weak. Not at a time like this!" His eyes closed and his head was bent down. The scorching sensation in my chest was getting worse and worse.
My breathing quickened. I know whats about to happen. "No no no no," he walked towards me. Getting closer and closer. "Saint stop.." he didn't listen. "Saint I said stop. Stop stop stop stop stop" my throat tightened, my eyes blurred, and tears soaked me. The only word running through my head was stop. Stop waking closer to me. Stop what your about to say
He pulled me into a quick hug. His embrace, his scent, him. Pulling away he looked me into the eyes. "I'm sorry elizabeth. If we are meant to be. We'll find each other again," he pauses. No no no please don't do it. He doesn't want this. He can't. We need eachother.
"I Saint marshal, reject Elizabeth Stone as my mate."
The string broke into two pieces and my heart burned with furry and sadness. Falling onto my knees the pain took over. Barely letting me breathe.
I need to stop him. He can't leave me. He's my soulmate. He's my everything.
But before I could even stand up. He was gone.
He left me. He left me so he wouldn't be weak. He left me so he could be strong, but how are we supposed to be strong without each other?
