prologue

Princess Lilac Amara Alexandra, almond-colored skinned with the most beautiful dark brown hair you will ever see. Her bright green eyes that you can lose your soul to. The beautiful white, blue, and gold-encrusted dresses she wears to the castle's galas and balls; always accompanied by her best friend Zion, a handsome boy who has olive-colored skin, ginger hair, and grey eyes, a weirdly handsome combination.

Then, there is Cadence, who is always handsome. He has brown, almost black eyes and the darkest hair you will ever see. With his pale skin, he almost looks just like a ghost.

Lilac walks through the hall, in a daze of a sort. The horrid image keeps going through her mind.

Fire, surrounding the house as she runs out, a little girl in her arms. Setting the girl down, she tries to run back, but, she is being held back by her crying father, who is wrapping her into a hug as the house falls to the ground, sparks flying up into the sky, disappearing into the night. Her mother is gone and it's her fault. All her fault.....

That week the princess stayed in her room, grieving. Even the whole year she wouldn't smile, she was too guilty. She caused her father to go into an alcoholic grieving state and caused the kingdom to weaken. Her best friend couldn't even cheer her up.

It was declared the next generation the next year and with all of the newborns, her personality slowly started to open up again; She soon turned back to how she was before. But, that sinking feeling of her mother's death will always be there.

Why Lilac was busy with her grieving, she was too naive and didn't even realize what her best friend was going through...

"Come on! Get going boy, we don't have all day." The slurred voice of Zion's father echos throughout the small house. Zion has been working hard all day. Moving bricks from side to side at his father's command. You would think that his father would praise him for being the castle's scribe but, his drunken father would rather have him be a knight, like all of his other sons.

"COME ONE! You have to get to your little girly meeting with the head scribe. So, HURRY UP!" Zion's arms burn from being hit by a horsewhip and from carrying five-pound bricks across his house and back again.

No one knows his position in life but, they are aware of the screaming his father does when he is home after working late.

Zion thinks the only reason he is not dead is because he gives his father the money he earns.

He doesn't tell Lilac anything as she is grieving. Cadence is like an older brother to him, he won't tell him either. Both Lilac and Cadence were close to the queen and is taking her death hard.

So, for the next year and a half, he dealt with his father's yelling, drunken state, and the physical strain his father put him through.

On the other side of the kingdom, Cadence was thinking about something.....

"Come on honey! The water feels amazing." The sweet laugh of his wife echos around in his head, her beautiful blonde hair and her soft white skin that looks almost lavender.

The beach seems to stretch forever and ever, never-ending. But, it does end, it ends in an abrupt stop, a cliff going down, down and down.

Tears fall onto Candence's hands, hot on his cheeks. The memory of her bringing tears to his eyes every time.

The day she died, the WAY she died was unimaginable. How the ground just opened up from underneath her, the way Candence couldn't reach her in time and she fell into the reaches of hell. Or maybe, she went to their gods, forever watching over him.

Cadence doesn't know and he never will.

Although the underworld is said to be deep underground, she is in the gods' world, watching over everyone she loves.

Sometimes, not everything is as it seems.

The solstice, the second realm that was connected to the human world by a portal that is long destroyed.

This flora covered, fauna filled, magical place is no longer "magical." At least to the citizens.

Long ago the old kings' sons decided that magic is not worth destroying their realm over and for five generations kept it a secret. Until one day, the story didn't get passed on to the next successor and magic, the thing that created the solstice is forgotten about.

The solstice as a range of flora, anything between a small venus's flytrap to a giant red oak tree. There are jungles and forests, oceans and seas, lakes and creeks surrounded by a big variety of flora.

Animals can be found everywhere. Whether it is a baby bug or a giant griffin. The citizens are a combination of gnomes, orge, orc, witches, cyclopes, goblins, faeries, centaurs, fauns, elves, and many more.

Mountains are taller than giants and there are burrows inside hills. Wooden, leaf, or brick houses line the streets of the many villages and cities in the different regions.

Hopefully, this beautiful realm doesn't get destroyed.
