Chapter 3: Survival
Ao's eyes went wide open and were shaking. His mouth was hanging loose and he kept making the sound like he was about to talk but kept ending where he began. In his head he thought "there is no way to fight them all… we have to escape."
Then Ao looked down and checked on those he cared about and noticed something. They were moving closer to the hoard of monsters not running away.
They were all lined up side by side staring in the face of death and smiling. It was bravery to the point of madness.
Ao clenched his fist and returned to rising in the air towards his targets and thought "I can't believe i'm such a coward… I won't let them down any more."
While Ao was rising to action his loved ones were faced with extreme adversaries.
His mother was undaunted by the situation. She turned her head and looked at the group with one eye and said "split up to the far right and left of me."
They immediately separated into two groups. Ki and Fi were in the right group where Fi was holding the playing cards from earlier while the adults had multiple vases marked with different names like "black water" or "poisonous earth." The other group had the rest of kids with those adults being armed with spears that had similar names on them.
While that was happening Slyena went into action "World Art: Dragon's Guard". A tall and long platform of scales sprouted out of the ground and created a barrier between the monsters and the town. Slyena was standing firmly on top of the platform with her hands stretched out in front of her "Adapt art: Disaster." Scales from the wall began shooting out at the beasts rushing at them. Large sharp blue daggers were piercing the flesh of different creatures and beings. Some of them would fall due to their injuries and others would keep going although more slowly.
Eventually a creature in a turtle shell with three legs and 8 long necks each with its own turtle head managed to get to the wall and slam into it. It did not do the least of damage.
Slyena smirked and shouted "my kin… is Crystal Serpent which means I have the power to create nearly unbreakable scales."
Her husband patted her on the shoulder. She turned her head and then asked "what are you doing here?"
He responded with "If either side needs reinforcement then I can get to them easier from here."
She glared "and?"
He put his open hands up in front of himself and said "well" before putting them in his pockets "i need to protect my wife."
She took a breath of air "you are gonna need protection from your wife."

Ao reached his target. He extended his staff and swiped to slash it but the bug dodged higher.
The butterfly shot another of its beams at Ao which was just as easily as before deflected by the armour.
Ao thought "with how easy it is to deflect that shot…"
Ao then put his staff in one hand and held out the other as a flat open palm. He aimed it to be in the direction of the stinger.
Ao then flew closer slowly. Trying to aim his hand in the direction of the shot.
The creature shot again and Ao managed to make it hit his hand but the deflected beam went nowhere.
The corner of Ao's lip went down a little but he thought "I need to get this over with."
He rushed the creature again this time holding the staff in his mouth and cupping his hands together. As soon as the blast came he caught it in his hand and deflected it directly at his enemy piercing it through its body.
The thing's flying slowed to a flutter before finally it started to drop however Ao flew under it and grabbed to stop its descent. Ao commented "I need something from you." He lifted the animal with one hand and scratched the scales off of his lifting hand with his free one. Once that was done he said "Adapt art: Mimicry." There was a silent moment for a sec and Ao felt his mind and body become lighter and a little unbalanced. He kept his grasp on the monster however.
The creature being held started flapping its wings and launched itself away from Ao. The hole that was in its body had closed due the red mushy reformation process.
Ao smiled and opened his unscaled hand towards the target then yelled "secret art" before releasing scattering purple chemical rays that punctured the creature in hundreds of different places.
The insect went falling with the air flowing through its holes. It twitched as it hurdled to the ground.
Ao had a warm feeling in his body "seems your power is better left in the hands of someone more competent."
Before the monster had hit the ground its body had turned to red mush and reformed into a completely different animal all together. A beetle with six syringes like nostrils that dripped green liquid.
Ao directed his unscaled right hand at the bug and said "bring it on."

Es and her friends were at the left end of the wall. Es was tense with anticipation as she watched the hoard of monsters get shredded to pieces. Currently none of the creatures had a chance to go around the wall as they were too busy being cut by the large and sharp hail of scale blades. It was a vicious cycle the creature would come then be stabbed to death and then reform to come again.
With her eyes peeled at the carnage she spoke "we should evacuate the town since they are just going to keep coming till we run out of kin."
A young man with short orange hair and red shirt and baggy yellow pants said "actually it looks like we are winning the battle of nutrition." He pointed to a giant hairball looking beast with brown fur and a grey horn. Its fur was bloodied and looked dead. He then said "looks like they are running out of kin before she does."
Soon after he said that monster after monster started dropping to the ground permanently dead. All of them weighed down by their repeated injury.
After a while more than half of them were dead and the rest heavily wounded.
Then the scales stopped being shot from the wall. Soon after Es and the rest of them heard a strong manly voice shout "out of kin so the rest is up to you."
The left team moved up closer to the creatures.
Ro said "hey I have a plan."

The flying beetle shot six more shots at Ao but Ao swerved around each and every one of them like a fly.
Ao had his hand open and his fingers closed together "I think I finally got the hang of this new kin." He then said "secret art: soul blade" then purple lasers shot from each of his fingers stopping a far distance away from Ao to the point where the end was closer to the beetle then Ao. Ao did a chopping motion and sliced the bug in half.
The bug fell to the ground with Ao following behind to make sure it didn't attack any of his friends. One shot from that thing would almost kill anyone of the defenders other than his mother and maybe his father.
The bug bits fell to the ground and Ao landed beside it. Ao waited for a bit to see if the bug would reform but when it didn't he decided that it most likely wasn't a problem anymore so he grew a giant leaf out of his arm and rapped it around the insect then gave the rapper a purple metal coating before flying off to provide support to his allies.

Ki and his group were readying for action. The enemies were approaching at different rates. Some were barely moving due to their injuries. Others were a bit fast but weren't getting close anytime soon. One creature was heading at them at an alarming rate. It was a slug that was white and spherical.
Ki turned to the adults and said "this one seems easy… we'll take this one."
A man wearing a red hat with a yellow x on it nodded.
Ki looked back at the speeding slug and clasped his hand "Intricate Art: fast as wind dual dragon vehicle steeds." He then opened his hands and created a sphere of blue energy and did hand motions until two small long body 4 limbed and no wings dragons were formed between his hands and then he pushed them away while saying "expand." Which both did until they were four times the size of an adult male human.
Ki jumped on one of them and fi jumped on the other. Ki stretched his hand forward and the dragons flew out towards the monster. On the way Ki quickly said "Intricate art: warrior's soul and might" then he created a sword from a blue energy sphere that was half the boy's height and half the boy's width with a half circle hilt facing up that was bisected by a handle.
Once Fi got close he pulled a card from the deck he has been keeping and said "Open Elemental Power: Water." The card that had the image of an ocean started shooting out a wave of water towards the slug. When the water made contact with the slug it just went through its white body and seemed to be absorbed into the white mass making it bigger.
Ki rode his dragon toward the slug slashed at it with his sword but found the part of the sword that was supposed to have cut into the creature to be gone. Ki looked at his weapon puzzled before saying "I think it can absorb kin."
Fi responds in a determined voice "then leave it to me."
Fi packed the cards he had in his pocket and leaped onto the slug. He dropped onto its side and slammed his fist into the side of its body. This created a crater in the side of the creature.
Ki flew over to see what was happening as he had heard the thump sound coming from over the area.
Ki saw Fi pounding away at the monster and thought to himself "he is going to need some help" before jumping down and slamming both his clenched fist into the creature creating a giant dent the same size as the Fi's first hit. His fists however sunk into the liquid and ki could feel his kin in his body weaken as if it was being drained from his body. Ki shouted "its taking my kin."
Fi climbed to his friend and shout "idiot you should of thought it could do that." Suddenly all the white mush melted and liquefied and flooded the ground and both fell with it. Fi managed to grab Ki's hand and they fell together.
For a sec they were drowning in a white sea. Both couldn't see or do anything until they hit the ground.
They were gawking and coughing up the stuff as they laid down. Ki spoke first "sorry… I didn't mean for that to happen."
Fi was reassuring "its… WOW all my kin is back" Fi shot up.
Ki turned his head to Fi and asked "really?"
Fi joyfully smiled "yea when...."
. Ki noticed the stop and finished for him "when the juice got in your mouth."
Fi frowned and dropped his head "don't tell anyone…"
Ki just sighed "we have to because it will be useful and it got in my mouth too so don't be embarrassed."
Fi looked around and saw a black slug scurrying away which then lead to Fi thinking "what are we gonna name you?"
…
Es, Ro and two of the adults departed from the left party and were then heading for the wounded and badly beaten creatures. Es had used "Impact art: Queen's blessing" on everybody leaving.
They were heading for this red beast that was a bit bigger than the others and had no eyes and was just a long drape of thick fur covering one hulking body with 8 legs and a small neck with long head that had one massive sharp toothy mouth.
The creatures currently had deep red blood stains on its body indicating its injuries. It was moving a bit slow for its size but it was definitely making it way around the wall.
Es looked to Ro "you sure you want that one even though it's so badly injured."
Ro smirked "well all of them are injured and the thing is I know that animal and the fact that its healing regeneration is beyond special and I mean without using kin."
Es looked forward and noticed they were coming close to the target. She posed her hand forward and said "Precision Art: Ascendance." A green energy disk shot from the palm of her hand and hit the ground that was a bit in front of them and laid down flat. It expanded to the point where 10 people could stand in the circle and had pulsing energy to it where it continuously grow brighter.
Es said "here we go" before jumping on the disk and being launched hundreds of feet in the air before landing on the neck of the monster along with Ro and the other adults.
Ro stood up "ok where we go." However before he could do whatever he wanted to do Es spoke "hey a few questions first."
Ro shrugged and said "shoot go ahead and ask since we are in a hurry."
Es tapped her head and said "what happens if you fail."
Ro responded "then I am trapped until something happens that can let me out."
Es frowned and asked "how likely is that?"
Ro spoke quickly and hastily as he felt the creature speed pick back up "the dumber the easier." He then slammed his hands on the beast and said "Adapt art: true self." Ro turned into a bright blue liquid substance that expanded into a giant spread that went around the creature's head and then phased into the creature's body.
Es and the rest of them just sat hoping that it worked. Suddenly things went bad as the beast reared its head and started charging much faster and getting closer to the edge of the wall.
The corner group prepared themselves for the oncoming attack. They had spears with dragon heads on the end and were pointing it at the threat.
Ao could be seen joining them and pointing his hand at the goliath.
Es eyes went wide open as she said "no… don't hurt him Ro is in there."
A brown haired man with low cut hair and a rough chin patted Es on the shoulder "it'll be alright."
The monster closely approached the defenders and was constantly halving the distance until…
Right when the townspeople would be forced to fight the animal stopped. It let out a loud roar. Then its fur turned blue and its razor sharp teeth became normal flat teeth.
It bent its head down to the people and smiled.
Es jumped to the tip of the head and looked to her allies with a smile "mission accomplished."

Another part and another step forward on this journey with Ao. You guys got to see what's Ro's kin is. Soon all the kins of the main six will be shown and I would hope for you guys to voice which ones your favourite.
Anyway I wanna let you guys know that that its a bit difficult being a writer but the challenge makes me stronger. I hope to grow and entertain you more. Anyway into the sub-categories.
