Chapter 32: Buying slaves

Aurus once again went directly to the question but became a bit vaguer due to the man in the room. Of course, he wasn't afraid of him thinking he could go to another world. After all, which weird person would think he could go to another world after hearing his words? At most he would look at Aurus weirdly for the vagueness of his words and it would stop there.

Which kind of people would assume someone had a system with them and came from another world?

Immediately, seven people, including five humans and two beastmans answered positively.

Nodding in understanding, Aurus turned to the man and said: "You can take the seven of them back. I won't be buying them."

With four elves, three humans, three beastmans and two fairies left, Aurus went to his next question. "Do any of you have any lingering attachment to this world? Any people you are owing promises you wish to fulfil even if you were to bet your life on it?" Seeing them shake their head in negation, Aurus went to the next question.

"Are there any of you who are interested in working in a shop?" Upon hearing his words, three elves, a human and two beastmans nodded their heads. Seeing them nod their heads, Aurus basically decided to buy them. Even though he had planned on buying fewer slaves, it didn't matter even if he bought more of them. He had a lot of gold in this world and could easily support them in the world of Arashina.

Seeing that an elf, two humans, a beastman and two fairies were left shaking their heads, he curiously asked: "What do you want to do in your lives?"

The elf started: "I wish to go back to the forest and meet more of my kind and live in peace." The humans continued, they weirdly had the same dream: "I hope to be able to go back and live a stable and free life." The beastman wanted to go back to his tribe to help support the next generation. Nodding his head in understanding, Aurus looked at the two fairies.

Seeing that the others stopped talking but the two fairies didn't answer him he asked with a smile: "What about the two of you?"

The fairies were hesitant at first but they still told their wish. "We wish to be able to work in a safe living environment, prepare meals for our future master who will be very nice and take care of a house. We never had a house of ourselves so we hope to be able to find one." With a small smile which was between pain, self-deprecation and hope in the future after having said her wish.

"Alright, how about I buy the two of you and you will take care of the house and the food in the future? I don't have much time and cooking does take a lot of time which I don't have a lot." Lifting an eyebrow, Aurus asked with a smile.

Seeing the stunning appearance and the smile of the two small fairies, he understood that he agreed with him.

Just as he finished talking with the slaves, the men came back and Aurus sent the few who had another goal in life back with the men and kept the eight slaves which he decided to buy.

When the men once again left with the few slaves, he looked at the few left in the room with him and asked once again: "Is there anything you would like to ask or request before I buy you?"

Timidly, the human asked: "Will we be able to have a meal every two days instead of one every three days?" The other slaves immediately opened their eyes and looked at Aurus with slight expectations.

As Aurus slowly tilted his head to the side, the slaves seemed to lose hope as they thought Aurus wouldn't give them more food. However, they went from hell to heaven quite fast as Aurus talked. "Once every two days? Isn't that too little? Isn't it normal to eat three times a day?"

While he didn't directly answer the question asked, they obviously understood his meaning and all of them were quite excited. The two male elves, a female elf, female human, male and female beastman and fairies smiled greatly imagining their great future.

Seeing their smile Aurus also smiled but in his head, the only thing that he thought was: "Normally in novels, it is in this moment when everything seems to be going great that there will be great problems and that few of them will die while still hoping for a bright future."

Aurus obviously wouldn't wait for the trouble to arrive and immediately called the owner of the slave shop. He decided to buy all eight of them. The two fairies would work in the house to keep everything clean and cook food while the six others would work in the shop in his stead. As for them looking different? Who cares, nobody will come and create trouble for him for nothing since he possesses so many resources which are important for everyone. Moreover, they only look slightly different and he can still protect them with the shop defence system.

Settling their cost at a total of 40 gold coins, he saw that they were incredibly cheap as they only cost 5 gold coins each on average. However, he immediately left the store and walked a little further. He dreaded the problem which would most likely creep up soon enough.

A few moments after he left, he turned around and saw that a disgusting young master who seemed arrogant and his guards appeared out of nowhere and entered the shop.

Aurus patted himself on the shoulder for finishing the business as soon as possible.

Opening the point icon, he bought eight employee contracts worth 1000 points each and had the eight of the signs with their name on it.

As soon as they signed their names, the contract flamed up and turned into ashes. At the same time, the eight which had just signed their names on it received a lot of information and the slave contract was forcefully broken while the employee contract got in effect. Their eyes growing bigger gradually, they looked at Aurus and understood why he had asked so many questions before buying them. He was going to bring them to another world to work for him!

Seeing the disbelief as they looked at each other, Aurus looked at the time on the world icon and forcefully got back to the shop.

When he came back, he was once again dizzy and a few moments later, he looked at his task icon. The task to get employees was completed and the management icon appeared right in front of his eyes.

Not wasting any time, he sat down on the chair behind the counter and took a closer look at the new icon.

There were only two categories in this icon which were employees and businesses.

The employee category was pretty easy as when he opened it there was the name, photo and information of those who had signed an employment contract with him. Currently, there were eight employees but he didn't doubt there would be more in the future.

Closing the first category and opening the second, the businesses, he looked at it and saw the only business he currently possessed, the Monster Cultivation Resource shop. Touching the name of the shop, he could have a view of the shop at this current moment so he could see himself. He could also see the number of resources which were in the shop. There were also statistics about the number of customers he had in the past and the location of the shop which included both the city name and the world it was located in.

At the bottom right corner of the information of the shop, there was a green button which was to assign people to work in the shop. He didn't waste too much time and immediately assigned the eight employees he had previously bought to this shop.

A small moment later, eight portals appeared in front of him. Inside of the portals were whirlwinds and small white dots were floating around in the otherwise black whirlwind. It didn't take too long before his eight employees appeared out of nowhere.

There was a good point about assigning employees to the shop. Except for the obvious help by having more people working, they all had the appraisal skill of the system which helped them understand the different resources in the shop and the best resources for each of the contracted beasts.

Talking about contracted beasts, he kept a small note to remember about trying to find his next contracted beast.

Having them look around the shop and learning as much as possible before the next day, Aurus brought the two fairies back upstairs to the house and let them do their jobs. He didn't even need to order them before they started working. Seeing this, Aurus gave a slight smile and opened the system once again.

Currently, he had completed the task of finding employees and the shop would work well even without him.

Taking out the dungeon core from the system space, he opened the dungeon icon and immediately activated the dungeon using the dungeon core in his hand.

[Dungeon core detected, does the user use the core to activate the dungeon?]

"Yes." Aurus replied without thinking much.

[The dungeon core is taken and the dungeon is under construction.]

[The system has detected employees in the shop. Generating temporary accommodations for the employees on the lowest floor of the dungeon.]

[The dungeon creation will take two hours, please wait.]

Receiving the three prompts at the same time, he looked at the small text. Finishing to read the first line, he understood why the core suddenly disappeared. The following text relieved him greatly since he really had no idea where to let them live. He was quite happy the dungeon helped him solve this small trouble. He should have thought about this before assigning them to the shop. And finally seeing the time left before the creation of the dungeon, Aurus merely sat on a chair and ate some food the fairies had rushed to prepare.

Both fairies seemed extremely happy with their new life. Aurus had asked them to prepare enough food for the six others who were still looking at the store downstairs. None of them had eaten for the last two days so it was about time he fed them. He didn't want any of them dying from a constant lack of energy.
