Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Bojing's wives
Bojing's third wife went near his bed, she feel his forehead and realised that it was burning hot. She then turned to the servants and gave order, "Quick! Bring in a clean cloth, a tub of lukewarm water and a towel!"
The servants rushed to fetch the things. After a short while, they came with it. The third wife then commanded, "You can leave now!"
Bojing's third wife slowly changes his wet clothes, then she slowly wiped out his sweat using the towel. She dipped the towel into the lukewarm water and used it to wipe Bojing's heat. After a short while, Bojing's body heat seems to cool down a little bit and a few moments later, the physician came. He rushed and greeted the third wife.
The third wife greeted him back and let him checked his husband. After a careful examination, he then prescribed the medicine for his cure and left the place.
The Third wife called upon the servants with the prescription on her hand and ordered them, "Make sure to bring each and every one of the herbs!". She then gave them the taels for it. The servants went out in fetch of the herbs. Soon after a short while, the servants came with the herbs, she then gave order to the servant to brew the medicine. Following the command, the servant went to the kitchen and came back with a small bowl. After handing her the small bowl containing medicine, the servant left the place.
The third wife carefully took the small bowl and seated beside Bojing, she then pours a spoonful of the medicine on Bojing's mouth. She slowly tilts Bojing's neck, making sure that he gulped down the whole medicine. She then gave him one spoonful of the medicine after another. After continuously giving him a few spoonfuls of the medicine she stopped it there.
The medicine started to work on Bojing's body, after few moments his fever starts to slow down and his temperature came back to normal.
Later, Bojing gained his consciousness. His eyes slowly open and saw his beloved third wife blurry face. As he look closer and deeper, he found that she was staring blankly at him. As his wife saw that her husband had finally woken up, her face became delighted and she spoke gaily, "Husband! You are awake!"
Bewildered Bojing instantly grabbed his wife's hand and asked anxiously, "Where is the box!? Did you keep it safely??!!"
Startled by his awkward behaviour, his third wife curiously looked at him and replied, "Box!??!! What box??!! I haven't seen any box!!!"
Bojing instantly shake off his wife's hand and climbed down from his bed in a hurry. He then hastily moved towards the gate. Feeling curious and anxious at her husband's action, the third wife followed her husband. Bojing then reached nearby the gate. As he reached there, he immediately questioned the servant, "Who carried me inside?!!" The servant replied bewildered, "It is I!!"
Bojing then asked, "Have you seen a wooden box beside me!?!!"
The servant broaden his eyes and replied hesitantly, "Yes... I..... took it and kept it at a safe place Master!"
Bojing then asked him restlessly, "Where!?"
Just as the servant was about to gave his reply, Bojing's first wife appeared and interrupted, "I kept it safely husband! Don't you worry!"
The third wife came up to them and questioned, "What kind of wooden box are you talking about sister?!!"
The first wife smirked, turned back and lied straight to her face, "Ah! It's nothing... our husband bought a beautiful necklace for me and I asked our servant to keep it safely!"
Her words made the third wife to burn inside. She thought her husband Bojing loves and adores her so much but it turns out that he loves the first wife too. He was secretly buying gifts for her without her knowledge. Even though she was burning inside, she kept her composure and acted not jealous, "Ah! Is that so?! Our husband is so generous, even not long ago he bought me the finest silk cloth from the Kingdom Yu!"
Bojing cleared his throat as he heard his third wife's words.
Her words were cutting sharply on the heart of Bojing's first wife like a sharp blade piercing one's heart. To think that she was not only sharing her husband but his attention, love and care with other women too, her heart was shattered into pieces.
It never occurred to her mind that the man whom she loved and trusted from childhood would turn out to be such an asshole! It seems that money has blinded his eyes. Before the Wu's family got rich, his first wife was the only woman Bojing laid his eyes on. They were a happy couple back then with nothing to worry about but things got shattered into pieces once they started to do business with the Han's (Bojing's second wife family). As the business prospered they betrothed their daughter to the Wu's family and became the second wife of Bojing.
From that moment on, Bojing's first wife kept her silence, she never spoke her heart to him ever again, never did she entered to her husband bed-chamber. They got separated slowly. Soon after not long ago, Bojing then married the third wife. She was a famous beauty at the Shanjin's brothel house. It seems that she seduced him with her beauty and charm and became his wife cunningly. With the number of wives turning to three, Bojing's first wife kept her distance from her husband. Deep down, inside her heart she despised and hated him.
Bojing's first wife not wanting to stay there any longer she went towards the treasure room.
Seeing his first wife leave, Bojing turned to his third wife and spoke, "Dear, Your husband is hungry can you prepared a meal for me?!"
The third wife smiled and replied, "Yes, husband! I'll prepared it!"
Bojing then leaves his third wife there and paced faster towards the treasure room. There he saw his first wife opening up the wooden box. The celestial flower was glowing and emitting white light from its petals. Bojing went near to her and watch the celestial flower with her. He then spoke, "See it to your heart content, this might be the last time that you see the celestial flower!"
Upon hearing his words, Bojing's first wife eyes widen and stared at him. She then asked him curiously, "Why!! What happened!!!??"
Bojing replied disappointed, "It's a long story, the Eagle bandit has called off our agreement. They said they cannot provide us the celestial flower anymore!"
"Then! What about our father?! Can't they just provide us with one more celestial flower with that it'll complete our father's treatment!", his wife asked him curiously.
Bojing sighed a bit and replied, "This...… for the time being feed him with this celestial flower. For the next month I will do whatever I can to have my hands on the celestial flower. Our father has to be cured no matter what it takes!"
His wife responded slowly, "That's good then!"
Saying those words she left with the celestial flower to decote the medicine for her father in law. Bojing watched her as she left.
