Chapter 2: Panic
Mark dragged himself off the bed after getting a good nagging from Vidya. It's 9'o clock already and he's still sleeping. He almost forgot about going to Lakshman's house if not for Vidya texting him.
After reaching the gate he called his other two friends since they decided to go together. Since Nag lives far from this area he arrived late. Two hungry dogs were waiting for him. After Nag arrived they entered the house.
They were greeted by a handsome guy. He served them drinks and asked "Are you hungry?"
The man in red shirt asks while smiling. To say that he's handsome is not sufficient with his sharp facially features and tall lean figure he's like a magnet attracting females around him. He's used to girls getting overboard with him but his gentleness remains same despite his foul experiences with bold girls.
To say that Vidya isn't swoon by Ram is understatement. He's totally striking to eye causing one to feel aesthetic.
Buy Vidya can't be moved by handsomeness. She wouldn't care for appearances. And since she's with Mark and Lakshman one hunk and one cutiepie her eyes are almost resistant to any delicacies.
So out of politeness Vidya reluctantly said"uhh! No"
But a hungry dog can't hold his mouth "Anything is fine Ram. I'm starving make it fast"
Vidya really can't stand this guy. After Ram turned to kitchen to bring food. She started scolding "Don't you ever learn. Where's your manners?"
Mark felt attacked "Now what? What's wrong with my manners?"
"Lakshman's brother asked you out of politeness. You really didn't have to order him to serve you food" Vidya crossed her hands
"But I'm really hungry. Do you want me to lie to him by saying 'brother I'm so full early in the morning! what a nice day!' oh God just some food. If not for you urging me to be early I wouldn't have been starving" Mark is raging with hunger
"Yeah. I really meant it when I asked if you were hungry" said Ram holding two plates
Mark quickly grabbed the plate, hopped on sofa and started eating Dosa. Ram handed the plate to Vidya. She took it and thanked him. Nag was eating fruit salad he was given since he already ate at his home.
Ram told them that his brother went out to take worksheets from a senior. So they were watching TV while waiting for him.
Half an hour later Lakshman came with worksheets and they started working on them in living room. They managed to concentrate for 2 hours before completing the task.
Vidya couldn't help but say"you're surprisingly calm today" obvious directed to Mark.
Nag said "It's because Ram is here, he wouldn't dare act like he usually does"
"what? Mr Mark! Looks like you're afraid of Lakshman's brother" said Vidya mockingly
"Shut up! I'm not afraid of him" after a pause he says "It's because he never scolds me no matter what I do" Mark says
From childhood Mark has been a troublesome kid. Whomever he comes across says that he should change otherwise he'll face a hard life. He's always nagged at by his parents. Even if he does a small mistake they'll magnify it and wrong it all the time.
Until that one time during 6th grade summer he forced Lakshman to go into the sea with him. Lakshman dived into water and didn't come even after 2 minutes. Mark thought he was trying to prank him so he dived into the water to beat him up underwater. But the scene before him was so shocking it made him weak.
Lakshman's foot is entangled by wild weeds and Thorns on them were digging deep into his leg. He's stiff in water like if the weed leaves his feet he'd float directly to water surface. He has lost his consciousness due to poison from thorns.
Putting panic aside, Mark quickly grabbed Lakshman's leg and started pulling weeds off him with bare hands. Unknowingly he deepened the wounds and the water in near surroundings turned red. Blood from wide palms and lean leg diluted together into the deaths of ocean.
After some struggle Lakshman is finally free. All along his eyes were closed. Mark's panic returned. He tied Lakshman's hands with belt and hooked him to his neck and hurriedly swam to the shore.
His mind is blank, eyes are blurred he could hear the faint heartbeat on his back. He started running towards the nearest first-aid clinic. Their friends were chasing him shouting what has happened but his ears turned deaf because right now at this moment all he could hear is his own distorted heartbeat.
