Chapter 16: Captain Sneaky (1)

Dusk settled, then morning came.

Apart from weakened knees and aching muscle pains at his lower back, Miguel is ready to greet the day

.

.

.

As I recalled the events last night, I can't help but sigh

My plan of teaching Toto was spoiled and not only that!

"I planned on teaching those slaves too while slowly building an army of slaves."

But all for nought.

Saying so, mumbling in the air while scratching my eyes and removing those filthy eye-gunks.

I guess I have to re-arrange my plans.

In my sight, the windows were widely opened and the courtyard of the Lumin Tribe's Leader's residence—Kanya, greeted me.

I stretched out my arms and decided to go outside.

Jumping out from the window,

Nothing seemed particularly special, just some simple tables made from bamboo grass and some fine orchards was displayed.

From these orchards, I casually picked some guava fruits.

My mind wandered off, thinking about Toto.

Although I can't reach Toto, I think that he would be fine there.

"And that Saman, her appearance is one of a kind but her attitude seems to throw me off."

I snorted. She seems to be fond of me.

Well, that was the vibe I am getting.

"This is the first time I met a princess who acts like a warden."

Well, technically she is not a princess, it is those people from the west—those Aghora bastards!

That mistakenly interpreted Saman as equivalent to a princess.

But in fact, it is just the name given by the tribesmen to the Datu's daughter.

According to some historical books I pillaged over my conquests of which those bastards firmly kept hidden from Ophir, the Saman title was taken from the name of a Demigod called Saman in hopes that one day people of all colours could unite again in worship with their Heavenly God, named Bathala.

But enough with such history, starting today I won't belive of any of that nonsense they have told!

After all, "History is written by the Victor."

How much of the truth had been altered, destroyed, or had been kept hidden?

"I will try to find out!"

If my theory is right, then this is definitely a chance for me to re-write history!

As it was still too early in the morning, the sun is just about to peak, I decided to grab more guavas and quietly sat on the ground with this fancy looking, tiny tables.

The guava was juicy it tasted sweet and like a can of soda sprinkled with some mints, it plunged inside of my mouth like a tropical burst.

This tasted great!

"It had no added artificial preservatives or any chemicals, it's perfectly natural."

While immersed with the delightful taste of the food...

I recalled Talia or Lia or whatever her name was.

"She's probably a good example of what a modern-day woman represents."

Abolishing customs and traditions...

Seems to prove that wherever you go, change is what remained constant.

Even without the tampering of those Aghoras, I think our Ophir would successfully develop on their own.

Then the chirping of birds brought me to a trance.

"My past life..."

Back when I was still General Miguel, I had a good marriage with my wife and a good relationship with my adorable only son.

"I miss them."

I longed for my son, now he had to live his whole life being insulted by everyone he meets.

That his father was a traitor.

And my wife...

"My beautiful wife."

"You know dear, I'm still alive. How I wish I could go back and hug you in my arms but I can't."

"Now that I am gone, what will happen to the two of you?"

I looked at the ground dejectedly.

Although my wife back in my time, can't be compared to the beauty of that Saman Talia,

"I love her"

I knew I've always been a faithful husband and a loving father to my son.

Was admired by many.

But all of that came to an end.

The sad part is, only I knew that I did nothing wrong.

After thinking about many things, I gazed at the peeled fruits in the table, smiling faintly.

"I have to accept my situation."

"Perhaps, I might find a way to return..."

"At least I am now, here. I am still alive and was given a second chance to live. The only difference was I am no longer that General Miguel, but he now the slave Argus."

Once I was done eating, I stood up, grabbed the leftovers and went to take a walk.

While I remind myself at the back of my mind:

"Things will find its way, I could only leave them for the future, I must focus on what is present for now and work my way if there is a chance."

.

.

...

[Saman's Kanya: Outer Hall]

"Glad I could sneak up at to this point. They are weak against spies."

Miguel who was crouching near the bushes while warily murmuring, his eyes looked left to right.

He has to anticipate and memorize the patroling route of the guards.

"That one." And with swift quiet footsteps, Miguel suddenly vanished.

Miguel then reached the outside part of the Saman's Kanya that intersected with the Dayang's Kanya.—their residences are closely connected with each of their courtyards intersected by a small margin.

What greeted him are the Gates that would lead him out of the Lumin Tribe's Kanya.

"Sigh sneaking is tough," Miguel complained in a sigh.

Two burly warriors were busily guarding the place, each of them was holding long-bladed spears and a giant shield which was irregularly elongated.

Miguel smirked, now he has to climb the trees near the post.

After climbing and going down to the dark and swampy lands outside the residence, he successfully evaded the warriors.

Miguel scratched his head as he tidied his garments.

Looking at his garments, it was indeed much better than the ones he first used when he just transmigrated.

It's brown, similar to an animal hide but is made from brown woven silk with white intricate tribal designs.

He also examined the beads that are given to him by that Atubang, named Wagu.

As he recalled, the image of that old man became clear...

"Take these beads and wear them in your body, your right arm specifically."

An old man who appeared like a living coffin with his skin crumpled in his wrinkles.

The man looked dignified and solemn.

"These are proof that you all are the Saman's Sulgo."

As the old man said that, he gave the red colored beads, gleaming in scarlet light.

"Many thanks." The three of us answered. Me, Amaya, and the recently named Aryan which was Toto's little sister.

"We finished arranging which room each of you should sleep. Follow that Sulgo and she will lead you to your rooms."

And the three of us politely nodded.

"Call me Wagu Atubang, I expect a good service from the three of you."

The old man warned before gesturing another slave to lead us to our rooms.

Then he left.

.

.

.

...

"That old man had the same bearing as that Shaman." I wonder what an Atubang means.

While scratching my head, I began to walk forward, near the fences of the Lumin Tribe's Kanya—Residence for Tribal leaders and their families.

Then as I was walking, I heard some screams of annoyance near the river.

If I only knew to whom that voice came from I should have never decided to go and see.

I should have kept my curiosity aside.

I muttered under my breath with the scent of the morning dew and the light of the rising sun.

Alright! 1st Chapter for today was finished.

Feel free to notify me of any error.

Thanks for reading my novel and if you reach this far, kindly give it a review, please.

Like that:

One feedback I received said a complaint about my excessive use of my native words...

PLEASE DO NOTE:

Some words were taken and based on the old language of Filipino natives which are words, we no longer speak. And some of the titles did not really have any equivalent word for them. I am just using my imagination to fill up the gaps that these words could potentially mean.

So I ask to be pardoned for my excessive use of these words.

HOWEVER,

Starting from this chapter and the succeeding ones, I will try my best to limit the number of native words or terms to use.

With that said, I ask you to kindly wait for the Next Chapters!
