Chapter 22: Chapter 22: As Strong And As Soft As Water

Luka lay there, on the brink of exhaustion, as he and Xavier finally ceased their passionate activities.

His energy was practically spent, feeling a mix of pleasure and weariness coursing through his body.

This was their second time together, and though it had been somewhat hurried, it was still a wonderful experience.

Gasping for breath, Luka managed to speak amidst his flushed face, his words laced with shyness. "What just happened? I felt... you know, I felt..." His blush deepened, making it difficult for him to articulate his thoughts.

Xavier couldn't help but chuckle at his soulmate's adorable nature, nuzzling his neck affectionately. "You felt aroused, my dear," he teased, his laughter growing louder as Luka blushed even more.

"Stop teasing me!" Luka playfully shoved Xavier, but his efforts were futile against the devil's strength. "Old man," he muttered under his breath.

Xavier raised an eyebrow in mock offense. "What did you say?" he feigned surprise. "Did you just call me old? I am not old! Yes, I may be older than you by a couple of centuries, but that doesn't make me old. Besides, I'm in my twenty-year-old form!" The devil continued his comical complaints, trying to defend his youthful appearance, while Luka couldn't help but look at him with an amused expression.

Luka couldn't contain his laughter, and Xavier begrudgingly silenced himself, unable to resist the sound of his soulmate's melodic laughter. "I was only kidding," Luka managed to say amidst his laughter, not realizing the effect it had on Xavier.

Luka hadn't always been the happiest person, burdened by a difficult past and plagued by shyness. But seeing him so carefree and at ease with Xavier now brought a profound sense of joy and happiness to the devil's heart. It was a feeling he had never experienced before.

In the past week, especially with the presence of William, Luka had grown even happier and more relaxed.

Though he appeared happy around Xavier most of the time, Lucifer, who observed them closely, noticed that Luka's laughter was always somewhat restrained.

But now, listening to his soulmate laugh so freely, Xavier knew that he would do anything and everything to hear that voice fill their lives constantly.

After a while, as Luka's laughter subsided, Xavier whispered, "I love you, Luka. Truly, deeply."

A smile graced Luka's lips as he gazed at Xavier, his eyes filled with the same love. "I love you too," he replied, his heart overflowing with affection. In that moment, everything felt perfect.

Xavier couldn't help but bring up their baby once again, a topic that brought him immeasurable excitement. "So, our little one..." he began, a mischievous grin forming on his face. Luka playfully rolled his eyes, still adjusting to the idea of being a parent. "He or she, or they—who knows—will be a unique and powerful combination."

"William certainly knows how to break the ice," Luka chuckled. "He has a way of bringing unexpected randomness to the conversation."

"Well, what did you expect?" Xavier chuckled in response. "He is Jonathan's soulmate, after all. Every Jack has his Jill, and William is Jonathan's Jill. They're destined to be together, so it's no surprise."

"I don't think William would appreciate being called Jill," Luka smiled warmly. "But I don't think you care, do you?"

Xavier smirked, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Well, I could always say that you're my Jill, so he won't have to go through that alone," he quipped. "That's what best friends are for, right? Going through everything together."

"Shut up," Luka said, although his words were accompanied by a hug, revealing the affection he truly felt. The pull between them was irresistible, and all Luka wanted was to be as close to Xavier as possible, a sentiment that was shared by the devil himself.

"But we're going to have a baby," Xavier brought up the topic again, his excitement palpable. He wanted to talk about their child endlessly. He was going to be a father. "I want to name them BD."

"What does BD stand for?" Luka scoffed playfully, suspecting what Xavier meant but wanting to confirm.

"Bundle of Joy," Xavier declared proudly. "I'm quite creative, don't you think? Just shows what a great gentleman you've found."

Luka shook his head, his eyes filled with affectionate exasperation. "The gentleman here needs to be a little gentler with his mate, considering his soulmate is feeling a bit sour right now," he teased, rolling his eyes once again. "Besides, I'm not going to call our child that. Can I choose the name?" Luka's smile grew, a rare excitement glimmering in his eyes.

Xavier smiled back, his gaze filled with adoration as he looked at his mate. Luka resembled a child, brimming with happiness.

His usual expression on Earth had been distant and emotionless, a facade that didn't match him. But now, he radiated brightness, and Xavier would do everything in his power to preserve that light for the rest of their immortal lives.

"What would you like to name our Bundle of Joy?" Xavier asked, his voice filled with tenderness.

"I'm not saying that you can't decide the name or anything," Xavier interjected, stopping Luka from making assumptions, and silenced him with a gentle kiss.

"It's okay, baby," he whispered against his soulmate's lips. "I'll choose the middle name." Luka giggled as Xavier briefly tickled him, and the sound of his sweet laughter brought a successful smile to Xavier's face.

All he wanted was for their family to be happy, and he was willing to do whatever it took, even going beyond his limits, to ensure that.

"So, what do you want to name our little BD?" Xavier asked, placing a soft kiss on Luka's nose. "I know you already have a great name in mind."

"It's too early to decide on a gender-specific name," Luka replied dreamily. "I want to choose a unisex name. It's always better that way. We shouldn't assume the gender until our child confirms it. Plus, I really love this name," he added, his thoughts drifting to the idea of holding their child in his arms.

His maternal instincts were already kicking in, filling him with warmth and joy. A side effect of having a very unique hybrid growing inside him.

"Don't start daydreaming just yet, Luka," Xavier playfully flicked Luka's forehead, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as Luka glared at him while rubbing the spot. "What do you want to call our mini version?"

"River," Luka announced with certainty. "I envision our child as gentle and soothing, like a flowing river. They'll bring joy and life to their surroundings, becoming a source of light for others and lending a helping hand to those around them."

Xavier smiled, appreciating Luka's perspective. He liked how Luka saw beyond the surface. His explanation was perfect—it wasn't just about the sound of the name, but the deeper meaning behind it.

"But they're also River because they'll be powerful," Luka continued, absentmindedly rubbing his still-flat stomach, which would soon develop a baby bump. "A river is powerful and can carve through stones, no matter how strong they are. Our child will bring light into people's lives."

"That's a wonderful name," Xavier said, nuzzling his soulmate lovingly. "A beautiful name with a profound meaning. You truly are amazing, my love." Xavier placed his hands on top of Luka's, resting on his still-flat stomach, and mirrored Luka's smile. "And you are amazing too. Your papa and daddy are eagerly waiting for you."

Luka placed his hands on top of Xavier's, their fingers intertwining. "Your silly dad might not know, but I'm pretty sure you still can't hear what we're saying. But it doesn't matter. We're going to love you."

Xavier looked at Luka, his gaze fixed on his stomach, a radiant smile adorning his angelic face.

Xavier couldn't find the words to express how he felt in that moment. He was filled with pure happiness—something he had never experienced before. With his soulmate in his arms and their little River growing inside Luka's womb, he felt like the luckiest man alive.

"I'm so incredibly happy, Luka," Xavier murmured, pressing a tender kiss to the crown of Luka's head.

"I'm happy too, Xavier," Luka replied, and for the first time in a long while, he truly meant every word.

Unbeknownst to the couple, a shadow loomed in the room.

Neither Xavier nor Luka had any idea what fate had in store for them.
