Chapter 3: CHAPTER 3

After 30 minutes they took the sack from the car's trunk and took it to the experiments room. Axel asked Fred to wait outside the experiment room till the experiments were over. The other 5 members of the crew gathered in the experiments room within a few seconds. Axel said "we should tranquilize this bloody thing". Phil replied "we are all set now, take the anesthesia and syringe Casey". Casey opened a drawer and took the things that Phil had asked and handed them to Phil. Phil opened the cap of the bottle of anaesthesia and dipped the needle of the syringe into the bottle and took 25ml of anesthesia in the syringe. Axel asked him to inject the anesthesia into the pseudo being's head. Phil did what Axel had said and asked him what to do next. Axel replied that they should wait for a few minutes until the anesthesia starts working in its body. A few minutes passed by and Axel said "now it is the time to conduct our experiments". "I'm good at archaeology so I can have a look at the shining stone" said Madeleine. Axel replied "okay you may do that". Casey said "I don't think there is a meaning in keeping this pseudo being alive". Phil replied "Casey, you know nothing. Me and Axel is gonna map its brain". "Oh, that's a cool idea. Before that I need to collect its blood" said Casey. "Then make it fast" replied Axel. Casey took 10ml of blood from its body and went to check it. Axel grinned and said "unfortunately, we are not surgeons". Phil replied "Oh god, what should we do now". "All we need to do is to cut open its head" replied Axel. He had a surgical knife in his hands. He carefully cut its forehead with the knife and opened the cut part to see its brain. Phil looked at its brain and said "ah, this thing is not a human brain". Axel was confused and said "crap, what the hell is its brain it looks more like a stone which can be cut". "How about cutting it" asked Phil. "Let's see" said Axel. He again took the surgical knife and tried to cut open its brain. Axel almost touched its head with the knife when he heard Madeleine calling "Axel please come here and have a look at this". Axel dropped the knife in the nearby table and went near Madeleine. She said "this stone is radio-active and its meant to be carefully handled but its outer shell is safe to touch". "That's surprising" replied Axel. Madeleine said "There's a lot more to say Axel". "Then tell me fast" replied Axel. Madeleine said "This stone is Uranium in the inside and an unknown thing in the outer part. This thing has 3 parts, I have named them as crust, mantle and core. I wasn't able to find out more about the crust. It is highly charged in the mantle and I guess that the electricity inside it is powerful enough to propel a rocket. As I have told earlier the core is made of uranium." Axel said "I think it is not electricity". "I too have the same doubt Axel" replied Madeleine. "Anyway you've done a great job Maddie" replied Axel. Axel hesitated to go back because he wanted to know more about the stone's second layer. Axel prevented Madeleine from looking it through the microscope and said "I have an idea". Axel took a knife and cut opened the stone. He was so curious that he touched the second layer of the stone. On touching it he was still for a moment and shivered a little. His pupils bulged and he felt like a super-human. Madeleine said "are you alright Axel". Axel was stunned and said "I'm okay". "Axel, Phil is waiting for you". Axel said "I'm going to map its brain". "All the best said Madeleine and Axel started walking to the next room. Axel entered the next room and Phil said "Axel, I have identified that there is a small amount of electricity in its brain". Axel replied "It is not electricity, it is something else. Madeleine said that she found electricity inside the stone but I said it was not electricity". Phil said "Axel have a look at its brain." "Lemme see" replied Axel. Axel behaved like a kid and touched its brain with bare hands and smelt it. Phil spotted Axel's eyes glowing but he didn't asked him. He was sure that something was wrong with Axel. Axel felt a bit dizzy and he went to his room to take some rest. After some minutes the experiments were over and everyone except Axel and Fred came to the meeting hall. Casey asked "where is Axel". Phil replied "he went to his room to take some rest and I closed the door from the other side". Madeleine asked "why did you do that". Phil replied "you have to accept the truth. As soon as he came back after talking with you he behaved like a psychopath and touched the pseudo being's brain with bare palms and smelt it. I saw one more thing different in him and that was his eyes. I spotted them glowing". Madeleine's eyes were filled with tears and said in a cracked voice "it is all because of me because I am the one who called him to tell more about the stone". Casey replied "don't worry, he'll be fine". Phil remembered all the things that had happened in the experiments room and asked Madeleine "did Axel touched the stone?" Madeleine replied "yes, yes he touched it. After touching it he was stunned for a moment and when I called his name he was stunned again". "Maybe that's the reason behind Axel behaving like a psycho". Madeleine replied "that may be the reason. I recommend all of you to wear hazard response suit because we are going to see Axel". Casey and Phil said that they were ready to see Axel. They went to the storage room in a jiffy to wear the hazard response suit. Meanwhile at Axel's room he was so furious and he ran to the corners of the room and screamed aloud. He was feeling dizzy and when he looked at the mirror he identified that he had developed sharp teeth. His eyes were shiny and were red in colour. His body too expanded a bit and his muscles became larger. He was out of his mind and he fell down and became unconscious.
