Chapter 3: Parting
We walked quietly for what seemed a few minutes.
He pushed a leaf away from our view and showed a large building.
Ahead of us was a large gate opened and that surrounded the whole thing with a wall.
I glanced at him, but it seemed he was lost in thought.
I made a movement to get his attention and turned toward me to bow.
"May we meet again.", he said quietly.
He bowed.
I looked at the school then to him, but he was gone.
I blinked for a second, trying to get my self together.
I glanced back to where the male was, and sure enough, there was a backpack sitting there.
I felt puzzled.
" What am I going to do with a backpack? "
Then I thought,
'Wait, it has things I need!'
A smile crept upon my face, looking around again.
I walked to the gate, a bit unsure where the man had led me.
It seemed to be a large "school".
The front looked beautiful, a long line of rose bushes followed the sides of the path, some white, others pink or red.
The brick had a tan-creme to it, like a milky coffee.
I awkwardly opened the front doors, stepping slowly inside, closing the door behind me quietly.
It looked to definitely be a school, the small hallways of white seemed to go on forever.
On the right of me looked like an office.
" Oh. "
I knocked on the window, feeling anxious.
A small woman in her 60s came up to the window, probably a Mink. From the way, some animals look or act in human form, you can tell what species they are.
"Mm. . can I help you. . .?", she spoke in a squeaky way, looking up from a clipboard.
She stopped and stared at me for a while, then pressed a button.
" Come over to the back, we'll get you fixed up."
She smiled, opening the door for me.
I stepped inside, looking around the nice interior of the office.
"We'll get you nice and clean before you start class.", she said kindly, pulling me by the arm to what seemed to be a small bathroom.
" We don't have any spare clothes at the moment, so you'll just have to wear what you came in with, dearie.
I'll leave you alone so you can shower, and I'll also put some shoes outside the door you can wear in the meanwhile.", she said, closing the door behind her as she waddled off.
The shower felt amazing, I hadn't felt this clean in AGES. The soap smelled amazing too! Strawberry sponge cake was what they had given me.
I wanted to stay in the warm water forever, but I knew they would get annoyed if I used all the hot water.
I got out, the steamy air coated my hair and body.
To my luck, they had given me a towel to use.
I dried my body, got dressed from the old clothes the male had given, and gone out.
When I got out, an obese looking male stood a few feet away from the door, staring at me.
"I'm Mr. Finn, you can follow me to your new dorm, then your new classroom.", he spoke, holding out his hand.
Nodding, I held his hand firmly and followed.
As we walked I got a good view of the school, it seemed to be a school for animals my age.
Most of the animals in the classrooms stared at me from the window as we walked.
I suppose this is not something you see every day.
Mr. Finn led me to a door at the end of a hallway, it said " Section C".
He opened the door to another hallway, showing us doors lined along the hallway to the very end.
After what seemed forever we came up to the door with the label saying "Dorm Room 273".
" This will be your dorm room, you will share it with 2 or more animals. Please keep it in good shape", he croaked out. His face stern.
Nodding, we continued out down a couple of halls until we came to a specific door.
"This will be your homeroom, we already had your teacher print out your schedule.", he croaked out, walking away.
