Chapter 4: James

Hi, I'm James and I want to tell you about my high school experience.

I attend Great Oak High. I am the smartest kid in my class and have been class president for three years now and hoping to be for four years this senior year.

{This story is about the pressure of good grades}

I have always been the best at all my subjects. No one can even come close. Class presidents for three years and I am confident it will turn into four years. All exams are like a child's work.

At the end of every year, we are required to take an exam that determines if we go to pass the class or not. But just like how I always pass the exam every year there is no need to study cause I'm simply good like that.

Many days passed and I saw many students in their books and as always, they come to me if they have any questions that confuse them. Some of them would even ask me why I wasn't studying. I just laughed and said unlike you simpletons I don't need to study but I will pass the test for sure.

Two months passed and more and more classmates were in the library, cafe, and even on the bus in their books studying like there was no tomorrow. I felt sorry for them. If only they were smart like me.

While my classmates stayed in the class to study, I headed to the game room to play some Pac man. My teacher came in and asked why I wasn't with the other students studying, I couldn't tell her I wasn't going to study so I told her that I left my study book at home. She said "OK" and told me to study hard cause this one is important. But she says that every year and I just don't believe her.

The test day was finally here, and everyone looked so nervous, but I was calm. I was ready to ace this test like I always do. My teacher handed out the test and read the instructions like she does every year. However, she told us that instead of two hours we have an hour to do multiple choice and an essay. But no sweat. I could finish this in 10 minutes tops. Shed said start and as I opened the test, I knew nothing. Absolutely nothing seemed familiar. I looked around and many students went by the question fast, but I was still stuck on question 2. Before I knew it, the hour was up, and I never even got to the essay part let alone question 10.

My teacher came to collect the test and when she finished collecting the test, she said that this test also is for who will be the next class president. That was unusual because we usually go upon votes and every always voted for me because I was the smartest one.

The next day we got our test back and I was surprised. I failed my exam which meant I was going to be class president next year and I didn't pass the class so I will have to take this class again.

And that is my high school experience.

NO MATTER HOW SMART I AM I COULD ALWAYS LEARN NEW THINGS AND I WILL NEVER TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED.

XOXO
