Chapter 7: Chapter Six: The Prophecy

"How do you know Leo?" I blurted.

"I don't know Leo, but I know his father." Mom rubbed her neck, hinting that she was uneasy about the conversation.

"Care to elaborate?" I ask.

"No. But I know you want me to. Leo's dad is, was, my fiancé." Both mine and Lily's mouths dropped. Mom was never willing to talk about her ex-fiancé. She always said that since he wasn't my dad, that it didn't matter whether or not I knew him. And she definitely did not want to remember him in the first place.

"Dang, Miss Sweet. How could you tell?" Mom sat down across from us at the kitchen counter, crossing her arms on the marble top.

"He's a spitting image... well if you add a couple inches in height and hair length, change the eye color, make him older, then boom. You'd have him."

"That's crazy." I'm still in a bit of shock. I know people often say 'it's a small world' but dang.

"What's crazier is that means I was engaged to someone I didn't know already had a six-year-old kid." Mom let out a big sigh and Lily patted her arm pitifully. *That's not true. He's actually-*

"Well, I guess the good news is that you definitely left a lasting impression on him. I mean, if his son knows you, chances are that his dad still talks about you." I say, cutting off the voice.

"Yeah, maybe. Either way, I don't need that man just showing up at my house." Mom looked at her watch, "Lily, shouldn't you be heading home?"

"Crap, you're right!" Lily leaned in to hug me, giving me a tight squeeze before treating Mom with the same. "Bye guys! See you over on Saturday for party prep!"

The door closed and I stood up to start loading the dishwasher. Today was pretty cool, I thought, smiling to myself. I had a pretty great time with two friends, one of which I had just made today. Not only that, but it had gone smoothly since Lily and Leo got along.

"First day at your new school and you're already picking up the boys, eh?" My mom teased, ruffling my hair.

"No. I'm sure Leo would find that pretty amusing." The image from my vision, dream, hallucination – whatever you want to call it – came to mind. That guy did look a lot like Leo plus the description Mom gave. Well, except that guy was engaged to a thing rather than my mom. And it wasn't real. *Keep telling yourself that, Squirt.* "Hey, Mom?"

"What?"

"What's Leo's dad's name?"

"Ugh. Please, no more questions after this." She sighed and set down the hand towel she was using to dry her hands. "Leonus."

*flashback*

"Harmony, meet my fiancé, Leonus." I felt my eyes widen as the girl from before finished her sentence. This was just too much.

"Very nice to meet you, princess." I found myself giggling at the nickname automatically.

"You're big, Mister Leoness." My heartfelt like it was trying to keep up with me sprinting. Is this a memory? I couldn't piece together much, but the fact that I was living this through a little girl named Harmony made me think this was a forgotten memory. But then why did my mind make these people into fantasy creatures? And was that Leo's dad?

"It's 'us' not 'ess', princess." He reached his arms out and quickly scooped me up from the girl's arms. "And you're quite small yourself."

As he turned to kiss the girl, I got a grand view of two very large scaly wings. It took me a moment to realize they were actually attached to Leonus until he bent down, but then I was sure. Two scaly white dragon-like wings, connecting to Leonus' back.

"Will I have wings like that when I'm older?" My hand reached out and touched the scales. They were cold, unlike the rest of the room, and smooth. Leonus laughed. My mind went wild at my own question. Why would I possibly think I would have dragon wings?

"I don't think most Fae have dragon wings . . .you'll most likely have beautiful feathers."

"Why won't my wings be like Mommy and Daddy's?"

"That's because you're not only a Fae but a Ufaeri." As he sat me down on the table, I watched my small hand reach out a hammer, the light from the fire bringing my attention to the fact that my hand was a light shade of blue. Leonus carefully removed the hammer from my grasp and laid it farther away from me. "Although we're all Ufaerians, since we live in Ufaerius, you mark the renewal of the original species that lived here."

"Am I scary?"

"No, you're very important, princess. Remember the prophecy. When we first fled to Ufaerius, we were given a prophecy by the Queen of Shambala that a Ufaerian would be born, when the time came, that had the birthmark of a small bird on her left ankle." He daintily held my ankle up and pointed at my birthmark, "And we were blessed to receive you. You'll grow into a mighty warrior one day princess."

"A warrior?!"

"Yes, you'll accomplish some amazing things, Princess."

"When?"

"不怕慢 就怕停 (bú pà màn jiù pà tíng )"

"But I wanna be one now! I wanna be like you mister Leoness!"

"Ehh-"

"Leonus.." The pretty lady gave him a warning with her eyes. "Yes, princess, eventually. When you're activated, your magic will bring you to your match. And then, according to the prophecy, you will do amazing things."

"My match?"

"Now, now, Alvia, don't go filling her head with girly nonsense at such a young age. You'll do just fine without your match." Leo rolled his eyes.

"Leonus-"

"No. The part must have been misinterpreted. She will not ever be matched with... a thing like him."

I watched the Alvia's face swarm with emotions, meanwhile, my head swam with my own. I was so confused. What correlation did these visions and I have? Why was Leo's dad some dragon thing, why was my mom purple and not my mom? Why was I blue? Why would I have wings? What prophecy? What –

*End of Flashback*

"Is a match." I blinked. I was back in the kitchen with my mom, who was currently looking like she was about to burst into tears.

"Harmony?"

"Huh?"

"Did you hear anything I just said?"

"Oh, sorry, I just – I must be tired." I leaned over the counter and kissed her cheek. "Night mom."

"Goodnight?" I turned my attention from her worried glance to the hallway that led to my room. I needed some time to think, and I had a feeling that mom wouldn't want to be answering these questions any more than the ones about Leo's dad.

*不怕慢 就怕停 (bú pà màn jiù pà tíng ), a Chinese proverb meaning "Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still" - Leonus is of dragon descent

A/N: Pixie - Hawaiian; Dragon - Chinese
