Chapter 2: Starting A New Life

After I graduated from university, I never thought I would have started my own business and so soon as well. There's only once person that I have to thank for that. My wonderful sister - Lily. She has been the owner of Clockwork Solutions for two years now. The business is made up of a group of people who are there to help the community with various problems. There basically a group of agony aunts! But anyway, they are a very successful company and that's why I asked her to help me.

She came up from London yesterday and we have been planning the business ever since. We haven't gone to sleep yet but we're not even tired. I guess I'm just really excited about opening the business next month. I've got the building plans sorted and the plot of the building ready, the only thing left is the interior and well hiring people to work there. But, that should be fine with Lily helping me - she has a lot of business contacts and that's going to be really helpful for the future.

A month later

The last month has been really chaotic, I have been extremely busy with setting up the business and finding potential co-workers. Jade has been working on our website which is ready to publish as soon as we open the doors. The doors which will hopefully never close. This has been our dream for the last five years. In a weeks time, it will be a reality, no longer will we be longing for this adventure. It will be in our fingertips. No more worrying about passing our exams or finding the money to afford the latest text books. Now, I can make a living for myself and give back to my mum all the money she has given to me. I can't wait! All the other students in my dorm had neither money to pay for the latest technology and all the fancy smartphones but not Jade and I, but we didn't care. We had each other and that was enough. We made a promise to never ever unfriend each other, no matter what happens. We must stick together. Through thick and thin. Through the good and the bad and there has been a lot of bad times.

A week later

It was here. The dream has faded away and reality is starting to kick in. It feels strange, not right somehow. I don't know what but there is something. There I was standing at the front desk waiting for our first customer, Jade standing next to me and out in the back our first colleague Sam. I've known Sam for roughly ten years now. We went to the same school for several years, I had liked him for a number of them years but the feeling was never mutual. He did not feel the same and he told me that when I asked to the leavers dance. But we got past that and we grew closer throughout the years of university. Every holiday I would go and see him, go to the beach or to the cinema. But it was always just us two. We had a special connection. A connection I have never shared with someone else. One summer things got a bit crazy. Alone in the beach hut, our relationship got a lot more passionate. A game of strip poker later and we took things to the next level. A whole new level. A level that I never knew I would ever go. It was magical though. But since that day, nothing. Not even a single moment where we stare into each other's eyes.

Ding

The door swung open and the bell rang. We were ready to go, ready to sell our first cake, our first cup of tea or even our first use of the toilet. That's right, our new business is a cafe. Whatever they needed, we were ready. That's why we are called S&J's Dream Cafe.

An hour later

The place was heaving, not one table was empty, people were loving the food and the customer service from Sam. He was very polite to them and the elderly were loving him. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Five star reviews, smiles on their faces and not one complaint. It was a dream come true.

Closing time

It was time to close the doors on our first day in business. We had earned over a thousand pounds and received a lot of tips. Sam got most of them as we thought it was fair after his great day here. I walked into the back where Sam was removing his apron and putting on his thick, black, leather jacket.

"Well done for today" congratulated Sabrina.

"Anything for you, babe." Sam said with his dreamboat smile.

He placed his hand on her cheek and looked into her eyes. Sabrina remembered the night in the hut all them years ago. Something special had sparked between them but she knew nothing could become of it as she is his boss.

It wouldn't be professional, right? It would be wrong. But rules are there to be broken, at least that's what my uncle said before he went to prison. I don't know what to do. But I've got to do something. I mean, Sam is standing there in front of me, the space between us is getting smaller and smaller. He reaches up to the top shelf to grab his motorcycle keys. As he reaches, I can see that he works out through his tight white shirt which clearly accents his six pack. He's standing that close that I can smell his aftershave, it's like nothing I've ever smelt before. I hear him pick up his keys and move his arm off the shelf and slowly on to my face. His fingers slowly caressed my face, his skin was soft and felt so smooth again mine. There was a moment of silence before Sam bought his lips against mine. He knew it was wrong, we both did but that didn't stop us. We wanted it and we would do anything for it. It was love.
