Chapter 35: Chapter 34

"What's going on here?". Plutonic asked after Aisha and Araminta had left.

Lucky turned to face him. Ninah looked away, Plutonic could smell the sadness emitting from her in waves before he rushed towards her and gently cupped her face using his large hands.

"What's wrong?. Who wronged you?". Plutonic asked, concern laced in his voice.

Ninah shook her head as a tear streamed down her eyes unto Plutonic's hands.

He turned his head to face Lucky who was looking straight back at him.

"You!". He exclaimed. "What did you do to her?".

Lucky's brows furrowed in confusion. What was his father trying to imply?. Oh, was he accusing him for Ninah's sadness?.

"I'm talking to you ain't I?". Plutonic asked. His voice hoarse with anger.

Plutonic asked as his hands dropped down to his sides and was about to move towards Lucky when Ninah caught his hand to stop him. His chest heaved up and down quickly with the fast breathes that he was taking due to the anger he felt.

"He's not the one. It was Aisha". Ninah said.

Plutonic looked at her. She was telling the truth.

"I... I just wanted to prepare a meal for you then she came and.. and said all these horrible stuff to me..". She trailed off as she burst with new tears.

"It wasn't him". Ninah added.

"But he failed to protect you from her!". Plutonic remarked, ripping his hand away from Ninah's grip and speeding towards Lucky only to stop when he was about to punch him on the face.

Lucky looked up at his father. The magnetic forces that he always had around him all the time had shielded him from his Father's punch.

His father had never been these hostile to him. His father had never attempted to beat him up let alone punch him. His father had never laid a hand on him but now, now it was different.

What had changed?.

His dead mother was back.

Plutonic looked back at his son.

"I recent you. Get away from me before I regret doing anything bad to you".

"All these?. Because of her?". Lucky questioned. "Why change like this?. I thought that we'd be a one happy family once she was here just like them, what changed?. You decided to shut me out all at once just like that as if I don't deserve an ounce of happiness in my life?. Tell me Dad, why treat me like this?". Lucky asked, his voice low almost in a whisper.

Fear... Sadness... Hurt... Anger... Hate was all he felt in him all at once as he spoke. Obviously, he wouldn't get any answers so he slowly. turned and left for his room.

On his way, he almost bumped into Ambrose.

"Lucky? What's wrong?". She asked but he didn't answer, he just passed her and went out of the mansion.

Araminta came out of her room and saw Ambrose. Being excited upon seeing her, she dragged the older girl to the play room to play with her.

Through her peripherals, Ambrose saw Akaya. The witch with the map of the seven seas was in the FireWing's mansion.

Ambrose turned to look back but she didn't see anyone. Could it have been her imagination?. But she was so sure that she had seen the witch and that made her worry, wondering why she was there. What had she come to do?. Even though the witch had helped her once, that did not mean that she could be trusted.

Ambrose had all reasons not to trust her. Nonetheless, who in his or her right mind could trust a witch?.

Araminta tagged on her hand pulling her out of the cloud of thoughts that she had been engulfed in.

"Sorry. Let's go". Ambrose said with a wan smile in her face.

"Are you okay?. I just want to show you my new barbie dolls and to thank you for staying with me the other day". Araminta replied.

Ambrose gave a slight nod, "Ye- Yeah I'm fine. Let's go".

They left for the playroom. Still, Ambrose worried over Lucky. He had looked so upset earlier, she wondered what could have been the reason behind his sad emotion?.

She wished she could know but the boy was very secretive. He wasn't an open person most especially to her and that upset her too. If only they were close friends and not allies.

•••••

"Young Master". An older man almost Plutonic's age called out to Lucky. He was Caucasian skinned, had a goatee but clean shaven and slight masculine.

Lucky had seen him before in his Father's study severally so, this man was no stranger.

"I'm Pete.." The man, Pete introduced himself.

Lucky nodded in accordance. "Okay Father is around you may go in and see him".

"I'm here to see you not him. If we could get a more privately place to talk please". Pete requested.

Lucky nodded again and motioned for him to walk alongside him towards the woods. That was a more privately place to talk by the matter of fact.

"Why see me and not him?". Lucky asked.

"For the past twenty four hours he has not been picking up my calls. Our business is at stake". Pete said.

"What business?". Lucky asked, his brows furrowed in confusion. The businesses he knew about and helped his Father manage were all okay.

"You didn't know?". Pete questioned. "You're the next on line to be in charge of the family's business and you don't know about it?".

Lucky shook his head. He hadn't even bothered reading his Father's mind to get to know about all their business lines. He trusted his Father so much.

But turns out that there was a secret business that he never knew about.

"Tell me about it". Lucky suggested.

Pete looked at him, as if debating whether to tell him or not.

Lucky sighed, "I'm sixteen for crying out loud. If I know nothing about this business you're talking about, don't you think that perhaps it's a dangerous line of business then?".

"You're right but you must know that every wealthy family in this world always has a dark line of business that covers up for them and if your Father doesn't pick up my calls then the business will come to a fall down. Kindly tell him that". Pete requested then turned and walked back leaving Lucky behind.

Drug Cartel.

His Father owned a drug cartel that was about to fall. He had managed to read that from Pete's mind.

That shouldn't be his concern.

He shouldn't meddle in any dark business owned by the family lest his Father despised him more. Why had his Father started a drug cartel?. Were Aisha and Hamlin aware of it?.

He even wondered if he was supposed to continue calling Plutonic "Father" because he was on his way to stop being "Plutonic's son" with the way things were going on.

The image of his Father raising his hand on him flashed back in his mind. He closed his eyes and shook his head to try and clear the image away.

Lucky was quite sure that the image displayed in his mind would never go away.

"Lucky!". Someone called before stopping beside him.

It was Hamlin.

"I'm from my afternoon run and I saw you here so I decided to talk to you". Hamlin said.

Lucky sighed again. Right now, he felt like a twenty five year old and not sixteen anymore.

"Talk about what Uncle?". Lucky questioned, not bothering to look at Hamlin. He was looking away into the trees, his hands buried deep in his jean's pockets that he wore.

"About the yesterday. I'm sorry. We didn't know that..." He started but Lucky cut him short.

"Forget it. It's a bygone now don't let it bother you anymore. Let's... let's just work hard to make our future relationship better".

Hamlin chuckled, "Are you sure?. You'd just forgive my wife and I just like that?".

Lucky let out a breathe loudly through his mouth and turned his head to look at the older man.

"As I said Uncle, bygones are bygones".

"Thank you. Just keep in mind that I'll always be here for you no matter what okay?". Hamlin said.

Lucky looked at him. Studying his face for any expression. He only saw sincerity and concern.

He slowly gave a nod of accordance before Hamlin gave out a smile and patted his shoulder.

"I'll go back to the mansion before Aisha worries. You should come too". Hamlin offered but Lucky shook his head.

"No thanks. I'll be here for a while". Lucky replied.

"Okay then. Take care". Hamlin said then ran towards the direction that Pete had taken earlier on.

Lucky leaned on a tree and looked up in the sky. Was there any way possible to get rid of the eternal pain he felt and forget it?. He wished that there was a way.

Somewhat, he also wished that he wasn't born a supernatural, perhaps, if he had been born human, he wouldn't be going through all that he was going through at the moment.

Was there a possibility that he could switch places with Rufus. Rufus wanted to remain a supernatural and he, he wanted to be human and disentangle himself from all these supernatural stuff surrounding him.

He was tired. Tired of all these. He wanted to rest. If possible let it be forever. He'd be fine with it.
