Chapter 16: Savior of All

I was in an alleyway, in front of me was Shronia.

"I am from the Sheikah Tribe" (Shronia)

She was born in Kakariko village, the home of the Sheikah. When she was young she accidentally started a fire in her house. She was the cause of the fire.

Sheikah members who ventured out into the world heard of these strange powers before, they said she was an Elementalist. She had the fire affinity. From that point on she honed her powers so accidents like that would never occur again. The village didn't fear her, instead they praised her and many of the younger ones wanted to be like her. On her 16th birthday she wanted to travel the world, it has been 4 years now.

After her story was finished I got straight to the point.

"Take me to your village" (Link)

We settled on a date, she wanted to say goodbye to a few friends. So I would have to wait a bit, that was fine.

I've been absent from work for a few days now, I hope Granny Smith will understand.

On my way there I saw Triana speaking with several soldiers. I was passing by when one of the soldiers told me to stop.

"You there, freeze" (Random Soldier)

I stopped, I wondered what was going on. In the soldier's hand was a sheet of paper, he looked at it before talking to me

"Is your name Link?" (Random Soldier)

I nodded.

"You are to be brought before Lord Hinamaru Gontrio for the assault of sir Alexander Lowis" (Random Knight)

Karma just has to bite back. I had thought of teleporting away when Triana took my hand.

Was she secretly mad that I hurt her father?

They didn't check me for weapons for some reason. Triana led me in a surprisingly well-decorated carriage for a convict. Once at the castle I was given a well-furnished room that looked like it was meant for important guests.

"Triana, am I going to be okay?" (Link)

"Yes, you'll be fine. The lord just wants to speak with you" (Triana)

The room was extravagant, the bed was clean and was soft. There were also cushioned couches, a music box, a polished mirror, and even a board game.

Interested in the game I asked Triana to explain the rules. It was called Lambo, the rules were just like chess. The only difference, the king was a useful piece.

After half an hour of playing, a maid showed up and guided us to a throne room. Before me were Alexander and other well-dressed people. The person on the throne must be Lord Hinamaru Gontrio.

I was expecting them to get angry at me for attacking a nobleman, but the moment I came in everyone bombarded me with questions.

They were intrigued by my strength and wanted to know how I was so strong. I tried my best to answer but more questions kept coming.

With the rise of the lord's hand, the room became silent.

"I am Lord Hinamaru Gontrio, I rule over Outskirt City. Tell me Link, how are you so powerful? (Lord Hinamaru Gontrio)

I was expecting instant imprisonment and a huge fine, maybe even the death sentence. Instead these people seemed like well-civilized beings who kept their power under control.

"Um, I train a lot" (Link)

An obvious lie, I barely trained at all. I could be called an amateur when it comes to swordplay. My real power came from my speed. The lord took this with heart.

"I see, Link are you willing to share your training regiment with us? We will reward you of course" (Lord Hinamaru Gontrio)

I was about to say that I jumped off towers for training when Triana spoke up.

"Lord Hinamaru Gontrio, could you explain to Link why you have summoned him here" (Triana)

"Oh yes, Link I am offering you the rank of knighthood. In my years as Lord of Outskirt City, I have never seen anyone defeat Alexander in battle. There are many benefits of becoming a knight such as receiving a monthly pension and being able to acquire a last name" (Lord Hinamaru Gontrio)

The rank of knighthood sounded too good to be true. If I learned anything from my past life, it was that good things always have a drawback.

"Lord Hinamaru Gontrio, if I were to join what would I lose" (Link)

He looked quite shocked, he must've thought I was some braindead person who only thought of money.

"If you were to join my knight order you would be bound to this city. You would live your life protecting this city and its citizens" (Lord Hinamaru Gontrio)

I was right to ask, as great as the benefits were I am already under the knighthood of someone.

The lord looked at me still hoping I would join.

"I want to be free" (Link)

He didn't try to force me, my respect for him grew.

"If you won't accept the position of knighthood allow me to give you this" (Lord Hinamaru Gontrio)

A servant came up to me and handed me a metal card.

"If you show this card it will allow you to avoid heavy tolls such as the Bridge of Hylia crossing into the Faron region" (Lord Hinamaru Gontrio)

I thanked him for the kind gift.

"There is another reason why I summoned you here. Alexander wants to duel you" (Lord Hinamaru Gontrio)

"Thank you Lord Hinamaru Gontrio. Link, in order to restore my honor I challenge you to a duel" (Alexander)

"Mhm" (Link)

"We will meet on the training grounds at 2 p.m. later today" (Alexander)

Being excused, I walked back to the room they gave me. Sitting on the soft couch Triana gave me a word of advice.

"Link, you probably don't need this but watch out for father's breath attack" (Triana)

"Breathe attack?" (Link)

"My father can breathe an icy frost from of his mouth, I've seen him win many battles with that move" (Triana)

Interesting, I'll have to watch out for that. I had some time to spare, with such a clean and soft bed I couldn't resist and took a long nap.

At around 1:30 p.m. Triana woke me up.

She led me outside to the training grounds, on one side was Alexander. He looked like he spent his time practicing since his face had a slight gleam to it.

There was the lord and other spectators.

I looked at the frostblade in Alexander's hands.

"Triana isn't this dangerous?" (Link)

"Don't worry. Even if a vital were struck, as long as a healing elixir were to be administered right away you would be fine" (Triana)

The logic of people in this game-like world is mind-blowing.

I stepped before him.

"Are you mocking me? Do you honestly believe you could defeat me with your bare fists?" (Alexander)

Without a doubt, I could. I looked at him and said this.

"No, when shall we start?" (Link)

A large vein formed on Alexander's forehead, however he kept his cool. He truly was a nobleman.

I didn't mean to sound cocky.

"Sir Viostin Ocual, you may give the signal at any time" (Alexander)

Alexander took a stance.

"You may begin" (Sir Viostin Ocual)

Rushing in, Alexander swung his frostblade, ducking I gave a right hook to his abdomen. I thought I put enough force to incapacitate him, he was tougher than I anticipated. Receiving the blow he swung downwards, taking a step to the side I gave a swift chop to the neck. I put more speed into this attack, this time he was out cold.

"Stop! The victor is Link" (Sir Viostin Ocual)

"Incredible, Alexander is our greatest fighter. To think that a non-elementalist could best him, unbelievable" (Lord Hinamaru Gontrio)

I was a little surprised, Alexander managed to take a blow from me and stand. A few servants came and carried him away. I was a little sad, I didn't get to see his breath attack.

After the duel I was permitted to leave, Triana walked me out of the castle. I still had some time left, I might as well go to my job.
