Chapter 41: Operation Link
Shronia and I are headed to the palace. Jroid is taking the others to meet with old friends.
The glares intensified as we got closer to the center of the city.
"Halt, no Hylians are permitted beyond this point" (Zora Guard)
I showed him the card from Outskirt.
"This means nothing to us" (Zora Guard)
"I need to speak with Prince Sidon, I am the Hero Link" (Link)
"I shall let him know, now be on your way" (Zora Guard)
I don't think he believes me.
"What now?" (Shronia)
Fine then, if they won't let us in, we'll sneak in.
Later that day we're on the underside of the city. It's dry beneath here so we climbed without the worry of slipping, once we were under the palace I grabbed Shronia and clipped through the floor. The technique I used is called shield clipping, in the game this glitch allows the player to pass through solid objects.
We're in. I looked at Shronia.
"Let's go" (Link)
She nodded.
Earlier today I took a picture of a Zora documenting it into the Compendium, if a Zora were to close in on us we would know.
I switched it to vibrate mode, I wouldn't want someone hearing the pinging sounds from the Sheikah Slate.
There are statues, paintings, and artworks of Mipha throughout the hallways.
"The Zora Princess, what was she like" (Shronia)
"A sweet and kind princess beloved by all" (Link)
I'm part of the Mipha and Link ship.
"Someone's up ahead" (Link)
The Sheikah Slate vibrated signaling a Zora ahead of us. I grabbed Shronia and clipped into an empty random room. We waited for the person to pass then went on.
Lost, I have no idea where to go or where Sidon could be.
"Should we interrogate someone?" (Shronia)
"Let's save that for last" (Link)
I'd rather keep our presence silent until we meet with the Zora Prince. We hit a crossroad.
"Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollers let him go, Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" (Link)
My finger landed on the westward path.
We heard some fighting, and it sounded like someone was sparring. Well we avoided that area and went around. We reached an office, I looked around for a map to no luck.
We checked every room on the first floor, mostly offices and bedrooms of executives. We're definitely in the right area. The second floor was also a dud.
Finally, on the third floor around the corner, we found a well-decorated door. Unlike the other doors, this one has 2 Zora's standing guard. We clipped through a wall to a room beside the guarded room and from there clipped through to the desired room.
It is a much larger room than any we've entered so far. There is a king sized bed as well as a sofa and table. To the right is a personal bathroom with a walk-in closet.
I found several documents with Sidon's name on it, as well as a diary that belonged to Mipha.
Our quest is over. Sidon isn't in the room, I wonder where he could be.
I started reading through Mipha's diary. You can read part of it in the game, but reading it in person is something else.
"The power to heal, called Mipha's Grace" (Shronia)
The best passive in the game, after defeating WaterBlight Ganon, Mipha endows the player a pseudo version of her power. You can't heal others but it can revive you at death.
It's late, I put the diary down to check the time, it's almost 1 in the morning. My eyes are getting heavy, Shronia is asleep next to me on the couch. Where could he be?
There is some noise outside, the doors opened and Sidon walked in.
"Sidon!" (Link)
"Who's there?!" (Sidon)
"Prince Sidon!" (Zora Guards)
They're all on guard, the commotion woke Shronia up.
"Don't you remember me?" (Link)
"Link, could it be. Have you came at long last" (Sidon)
"Yep" (Link)
"You're alive and well" (Sidon)
He dropped his weapon and ran over to hug me.
"It has been so long and so many things have happened. The years following the calamity have been harsh and with the recent Hylian attacks, I just... Now that you're here and everything will be okay" (Sidon)
Sidon is always smiling with energy, but sometimes I feel like he's faking it. There's a saying "The prettiest eyes have cried the most tears and the kindest hearts have felt the most pain."
He looked at the sleepy Shronia.
"Who might you be?" (Sidon)
"My name is Shronia, it's nice to meet you Prince Sidon" (Shronia)
"A pleasure as well. Link, with your power we can finally free Vah Ruta!" (Sidon)
He smiled his pristine white teeth. He turned towards his guards.
"The Hero has appeared before me, quickly tell my father and alert the council. The eternal rains can now rest" (Sidon)
He looked back at us.
"There's so much we need to catch up on, call Nani and tell her to prepare tea and treats" (Sidon)
"We can wait until morning to reminisce the past" (Link)
"You're right, forgive me. I'm so pleased to see you again, but why did you come so late at night? (Sidon)
I told him I was trying to make a surprise. Sidon granted us a room for the night, the next morning we had tea and biscuits with Sidon.
His sister died when he was just a toddler, well for a Zora anyhow. Not much is known about his mother as she never appeared in the game and any lore about her is unclear.
"I knew you would come Link, I felt it from the bottom of my heart" (Sidon)
"Yes, I have a few questions. What happened during this last few weeks" (Link)
He explained everything to me. For some odd reason, he suddenly had the urge to reduce the power of the military and lower taxes. Around that time he had a meeting with some noblemen under the territory of Otalmo Apan. The nobles decided to disregard the council's ruling and the Royal Zora Family and violated the fishing restrictions. For that, they had to be stripped of their ranks. To top it off, Hylians have been assaulting Zora's and just Zora's.
"Any ideas of why this is happening?" (Link)
"None, we have questioned coworkers and close friends of the attackers but they only had nice things to say about them. Well as long as you are here we shall be fine" (Sidon)
I hope he's right, Sidon gives me hope even though I'm supposed to be the light for the people.
Muzu barged in interrupting our quiet reunion, in the game in order to free Vah Ruta you have to convince Muzu first.
"Muzu, the Hero has come to us, soon we will be able to defeat Ganon together" (Sidon)
"How dare you show your face to me, after what you have done to Mipha" (Muzu)
I kept my cool, it would be unsightly of me to insult an elderly man.
"It's nice to see you too, it has been a while" (Link)
"Don't speak so kindly to me, guards escort them out" (Muzu)
The guards just ignored Muzu.
"Muzu please, this is our only chance. With the combined power of the Zora Prince and the Hylian Champion we can free Vah from the clutches of Ganon" (Sidon)
"You'll have to convince the council, I already say no to this" (Muzu)
Muzu left us in a rage.
Who says I need their approval, we can just sneak out and free the beast on our own.
I do need the Zora Armor that Mipha made for Link.
"Sidon, where did your sister keep the armor she was going to give me?" (Link)
"It's in the Royal Armory, I shall retrieve it right now" (Sidon)
Leaving us we finished our food. I am a little curious about this place so I wandered around, this time on the east side. Since the news of the Hero has been announced my face is well known throughout the halls, though I get the occasional stink eye from an elder Zora.
"Master Link!" (Zora Officer)
I turned around, a well-ornamented Zora officer ran towards us. I think his name is Bazz, Link trained him a century ago.
"You have returned to free the Divine Beast Vah Ruta! Do you remember who I am?" (Bazz)
"Hello Bazz, wonderful to see you again" (Link)
"Where have you been this whole time?" (Bazz)
"I was sleeping" (Link)
"All this time? Well it doesn't matter now, as long as you're here we can free Vah Ruta. I will help you convince the council to allow you to go with Sidon and tame the Divine Beast" (Bazz)
We chatted for a bit before he had to return to his work.
Returning to our stroll I bumped into a young and incredibly handsome Hylian man.
"Pardon me" (Young Man)
His elegant traits rival that of Link, lovely brown hair and innocent brown eyes. He looks like a young man that would help you if you fell into depression.
"You must be the Hero everyone is talking about, How do you do?" (Young man)
"I am doing well, you're a Hylian?" (Link)
"My name is Hatsotan, think of me as a representative on behalf of the Hylians for the Zora" (Hatsotan)
"Hatsotan, nice to meet you" (Link)
I held my hand for a handshake, Shronia slapped my arm away.
"What's wrong?" (Link)
I looked at her confused.
"What do you mean?" (Shronia)
She's playing dumb, is there something suspicious of him?
"Are you the only Hylian in this palace?" (Link)
"Yes, it has been quite hard to maintain this position. Who is this lady friend of yours?" (Hatsotan)
She stayed quiet.
"What is your name?" (Hatsotan)
She smiled and looked at him in silence.
Shronia stop being rude, he seems like a genuinely nice guy.
Hatsotan gave up on asking Shronia's name and tried to start a conversation.
"Where are you headed?" (Hatsotan)
"Nowhere in particular, just touring the place" (Link)
"I can offer you a proper tour if you wish" (Hatsotan)
"Thank you but I like finding our own path" (Link)
This could be a good opportunity to ask for the whereabouts of the shrine.
"Actually, have you seen an Ancient Sheikah structure in this place. I am deeply fascinated by them" (Link)
"Sheikah structure, I can't say that I have" (Hatsotan)
I'm a little disappointed.
"Thank you for your help, we'll be going" (Link)
"See you around" (Hatsotan)
We rounded the corner and pulled Shronia to the side. I'm pissed.
"What was that all about!" (Link)
She ignored me.
"Did you notice, he had round ears" (Shronia)
