Chapter 2: Chapter One: Beginnings

"Life attracts death. When we run into the light, we drag the shadow behind us. If my life is a curse, surviving it will be a cure"

When I was born, hell came out with me. My life is a constant struggle for survival. Escape from dark forces, unnatural full of evil and cruelty.I don't remember much of my previous life. My mother died during childbirth. I knew little more about my father, or at least as much as sister Elizabeth told me, one of the few sisters of the monastery where I spent all my childhood..I still have nightmarish visions of this world. The walls of the monastery dripping blood, dead bodies of animals and a pile of human corpses burning in the light of the crimson moon. From the depths of the underground abyss I hear the screams of people calling for help, distressed by their miserable fate of souls. there was no rescue anymore. Constant whispers urging me to finish all this once and for all... In all this, the only thing that kept me convinced that my existence was still important was faith. Faith in God.Something terrible is approaching ... something you can't escape ... I feel it. All these visions are not ordinary nightmares. These are visions of the future ... a terrible future ...Nowhere is safe anymore. I have to go. The darkness that follows me is as much a threat to me as it is to others.Yesterday sister Elizabeth brought a letter addressed to priest Ernest, an exorcist. He wrote that he knows how he can help me. In the depths I felt that there was no rescue for me. However ... did I have another choice? He told me to go to the Order of the Guardians of Light. His task was to maintain holy relics and protect the innermost secrets of faith. Father Ernest thought I would be safe there, but there was no place on earth that would save me from my curse. The monastery was located on a small island near the lighthouse. This meant that the only way to get to the convent was to cross the sea. I knew it would not be an easy journey. After everything that happened to me, death will no longer be a problem. I was wrong.Sister Elizabeth helped me pack the most necessary things and prepared a boat for me. Before I left, she gave me a rosary and a small card saying: "Follow the light, Michael, and God will show you the way." I left at dawn. The horizon under the blue sky seemed endless. I didn't know my exact location. I had to be guided by the stars. I suspected that the evil behind me would want to prevent me. Unfortunately, my fears came true. After about four hours of drifting on the sea, the time seems to stand still. The noise of the waves crashing on the boat died down. There was an unnaturally dark fog like a beastly abyss. The fog knew my name ... howled for years ... but she only asked for help. Soon there was a terrifying cry of ghosts, lost souls. The souls of people who did not know that their end had come a long time ago. of these beings. The symptoms howled so loudly that I could not hear my own screaming. I reached out into the fog. This was my first contact with this inhuman force since my birth. We can find ourselves both in the dark and in the light. In the middle of this dark apogee was the soul, unhappy and terrified. It probably belonged to me ...After a while the fog began to diverge and I saw the light, the brightest I've ever seen in my life. The soul of souls died down. The fog subsided. I felt inside that souls trapped inside had finally found peace. But was this my doing? I was only sure of one thing. If there is no light, I will bear the darkness of the lost ...I was approaching the shores of the island of the order, but I kept asking myself one question. How soon did my curse become a blessing? When I reached the shore of the island, I felt both relief and weight. The weight of my burden. Is this what my destiny should look like? Why does the terrifying curse that plagues me since birth allow me to overcome myself?Although I am far from the monastery island, can I swear that I still feel sea salt in my hair, although it may be sand from the grave?Father Ernest was waiting by the shore for me, he felt that something strange happened to me but he showed no interest. The path to the order was not long because the whole order fit in on the small rocky cliff of the island. After a moment of walking we stood in front of a huge gate made of shiny white stone. it opened quite inside the monastery, it was quite dark, before me appeared a huge hall in the middle of which stood an altar. Behind the altar was a staircase leading to the second floor of this huge fortress. Father Ernest led me up where the guest rooms were. Ernest only showed me my room and returned to his duties. Practically from the moment I arrived on the island he said nothing at all. I was bothered by only one thought. Where have all the light guards that belonged to this temple went to? Why is Ernest so taciturn? I heard strange unnatural sounds under the floor. Despite so many questions, I tried to think about them and fell asleep. The next morning Father Ernest came to me to lead me to the dining room. It was on the same floor as the guest rooms. The dining room had a huge, long table with a white tablecloth and a huge number of unlit candlesticks. Darkness everywhere ... but the food was delicious ! After breakfast, I asked a lot of questions, but Father Ernest was reluctant to answer them. He said that all the Watchmen of Light disappeared in strange circumstances about which the priest himself did not know much. He only told me that their disappearance could be related to the curse that over me pregnancy. After these short and unclear explanations Father Ernest led to the door under the stairs which I did not notice at the beginning when I got here. The door was closed with 4 padlocks and above them was the inscription "Here God ends". Why was such an inscription in such a sacred place?I guessed it was the place where I heard the sounds before going to bed last night. Father Ernest opened the door and huge bookshelves appeared in my eyes. There was a huge library inside. Father Ernest told me that here my study would begin to become I was not sure if I would be able to resist my curse anyway, but if I managed to fight it once, why should it not happen again? Father Ernest quickly disappeared from my field of view and I, left alone in this strange mysterious place, started searching the books for information about the curse. Unfortunately, I could not find anything. In the middle of the library there was a desktop with a red book. I was able to search it. The book contained information mainly about the history of this place and the relics stored here. Unfortunately, this information was not very useful. The last page of the book was torn out. The last written words before the torn-out page: "Malum In Se" - translating from Latin "evil in itself". After a while, I felt a great pain in the middle of my chest. I felt the chill piercing me, and the impossible to describe the aura of evil that was in this place, and exactly below it. It was as if all the evil of this world was concentrated here. The terrifying visions returned were different from those I saw before. They seemed so realistic that I had no doubt that this is a near future. Something terrible was approaching.

After a while I lost consciousness.Inside, I heard a strange, inhuman voice.

"You are walking on the path of darkness, but you are not walking alone. You knew that your journey would not be easy, a way written in scars.Remember what you have learned. When your steps break down, follow my voice.Do not turn aroundThrough my words, follow the path carved in the light. You are not alone. Remember our promises.I am never more than a whisper echoing in silence.Even when I close my eyes ... I will never look away from you.I am with you ... shining above.I see fear through your eyes.Under the mask of silence ... I know your real face.Time and again I see that you reach ... for me.How can I help you when I put your life in danger?I will lead you from our sky fortress. I promise. We're in this together. Darkness and light. As light reveals our path, darkness also. The brighter my light is, the stronger your shadow is.Darkness is not heresy. It lies in us all.You can't let fear trap you in the twilight.Your destiny is hidden in the dark. The light shines brightest in the dark.Dawn will know the night silence. Each of us as a victim ...You are asking only for a testimony of your sadness ...You are going through a nightmare. Born of shadow. Born of light.Whisper to the shadows of your soul ... I am with you.Our path is set between the last breaths of our fears. You will make death more than death. You will sanctify her.Light can touch us. Shouldn't that be enough? The light on our fingers ...We wouldn't need faith without pain. God wouldn't need us. We wouldn't need each other, Michael. If pain is what awaits us in the dark, we must run to it without fear. What we want, what we need, what we must do ...When the darkness comes, they will need our light. The fortress hovers around me. That's all. This is the only thing you aim at.You become a weapon, so you don't have to feel. But you are not a weapon, you are my angel.Pain causes numbness, but I still feel the truth that the pain hides.I can see further through the heavenly veil. What we call truth.I can hear you. I know what you sacrifice. It always starts with pain. We can only go through it together.Your life on the demon's altar ... I will not betray him ...Two steps with each step. Two breaths with each breath.Order fights for light. Chaos fights for the dark. In faith, we found both. A way to survive ....We were supposed to hate each other. But we will show them all, wicked and divine, that we are stronger together.Fate knows our pain, but it makes us not feel it.We were born in a twin fate, in a tragedy, just like the brothers before us ...The greatest power is power greater than ourselves. To become a vessel for the heavens, all you need is faith.Become a vessel for the demon, become his prison, let blood be our sacrament.

"After a while I regained consciousness. I quickly ran out of the library to find Father Ernest. He lay unconscious in front of the entrance gate. Evidently, it wasn't just me that was affected by bad charm.Something terrible has happened. Something that the world has never been ready for. Something has awakened. Evil in itself. This voice ... seemed strangely familiar ... He wanted to tell me something ... to convey that nothing is lost yet. Despite the coming extermination, I knew I could not give up. Every day I fought for my life, today it will be no different. The past is like a wave, always comes back. I will fight constantly for the living and the dead. Not resting until the nightmares themselves start to fear! Too many problems, too many wounds, too many changes. If you don't have something too much, you are not completely yourself ...
