Chapter 3: Pretty Please
Lyde tried to join a gang? No, it wasn't like that at all when he confessed his real objective when he tried reaching out to that group of thugs. Though I can't do him 'that' favor he asked me just like that… I don't want to get into trouble.
When I got back home, grandpa was in the living room watching TV and eating some chips. "Oh hey, welcome home." He first greeted. For an old man, he doesn't talk like one at all. It feels like I'm talking to someone my age but it doesn't really bother me at all.
"You waited for me to make dinner?" I asked.
Grandpa just laughs like it was actually funny. "Of course, Lynn's cooking is the best. Anyway, how's your brother at the hospital?"
"Don't try to change the subject, gramps. You should've cooked some rice!" I pinched his stretchy cheek.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch! Have mercy on this old man!"
"Tch. Whatever. Lyde's doing well, the nurse said he'll be released next week."
"Hngg, good to know." He answered while rubbing his cheek.
And after dinner, I thought real hard about what Lyde told me. It really seems complicated but I think I won't actually have a hard time doing it. I'm also quite impressed he's doing it for his friend, but then again…
"Uuuugh." I rolled on my bed, trying to shake it out of me. That was a rare thing that happened after all, both of us doesn't really get involve in one another's life.
Even though we're twins and that we live together with grandpa, we don't really bond that much. Plus, we go to different schools because I chose a school that's more ideal for me. I can even say that I don't know my brother that well.
It's also ridiculous that Lyde wanted to rely on me to avenge his other friend. The poor guy was bullied to the point that he had to transfer to a different school, and Lyde started acting like a hero for his friend. That's also the main reason why he got beaten almost to death. It was indeed a stupid plan, but it actually has a kind intent to it. Well, it's starting to make sense in my head why Lyde wanted to rely on me. I was the opposite of him, I know how to fight even though I'm a girl.
But that's not enough reason for me to pretend to be him and do his plans for him. "Hell no!" I'm not gonna fight those stupid bullies. I'm. A. Girl.
"Tsk. Stupid Lyde. It's not my problem he can't avenge his friend!" Whatever, I'm just going to sleep now.
The next morning, after buying some stuff I needed, I went to visit my brother again to see how he was doing. I really don't want to, but gramps insisted that I visit because he was worried about my brother. He should be the one visiting if he's 'that' concerned but I bet he's just being lazy as always.
When I opened the door of Lyde's room, there was another guy inside talking to Lyde. He must be one of his friends. "Hey, I'm here." I said.
"Sis!"
"G-Good afternoon." The other guy got startled to see me. He must be in awe seeing how pretty I was, but of course, I have no interest on boys affiliated with my brother. They might be just as stupid.
"Yeah, sorry to disturb you two, I'll leave if you don't want me here." My eyes squinted a little though. However I must say, he has quite some good looks.
"Ah no! We don't mind at all. Also this is my friend that I told you about. This is Ace. And Ace, this is my twin sister Lynn." Lyde said introducing us to one another.
I gave a half smile to his friend but his face was stiff like a stone. I guess he still can't process how pretty I am, hehe.
"Nice to meet you. I'm truly greatful you helped my brother."
"…"
"Ace?"
"Are you alright, dude?" When Ace got back on his senses he got embarassed about staring at me. I would've told him that it was alright to feel that way, but I don't want to be that arrogant.
"Oh, huh?… Ah! I'm sorry! I was just really surprised to see your sister. The two of you look so much alike." Tss, so that's the reason why he was staring so much? What a lame kid.
"That's because we're identical twins. Have you never heard of that?" I chuckled.
He just laughed along with it. "I just learned about Lyde having a twin sister today. So I'm very suprised to see you so suddenly."
"Haha, is that so?…" since my brother and I don't really get involve with each others lives, it's sort of normal that some of our friends doesn't know we have a twin.
"Lynn, I was actually expecting you." Lyde began to talk.
"Yeah?" In regards to what he asked me yesterday, what he's about to say next was already predictable.
"As for today, I have Ace beside me to ask you just this once…" It disgust me how Lyde was being formal with me. Being formal doesn't suit him at all. "…please help me avenge my friend!"
His idiot friend also bowed down to me. "Yes! On behalf of Lyde's request, I also beg you to do us this favor! Pretty please?"
I thought I was going home early because Lyde already has a friend here accompanying him. Though it was stupid to assume that. Now there are two stupid idiots asking me for a stupid favor. I knew it… I shouldn't have come here.
