Chapter 1: A Slime without Malice -Prologue-

What do you think a monster's first thought is? It's a topic in Asial among the tamer community that has been talked upon for millennia. Well, I shall answer that question for you now.

"Kill all."

This simple message is what drives all monsters. Right from birth, it corrupts their minds, making them all nothing but emotionless, cold-blooded killing machines.

I once wondered, who gave this message? Was it perhaps El Gaela, the God of Monsters? As all monsters are technically her spawn, it would make sense for the message to be hers... But as one who has heard the message, I know it to be a Male's voice, and if the legends are true, El Gaela is most certainly a female.

So who is it then? Could it be that it is the Demon Lord, the one who can bring the mindless monsters to his army with the flick of a finger? No, even for one with the magic prowess as his, it would be impossible for him to corrupt the minds of every monster in existence, no mortal being would have enough mana to even think of doing that!

So... Who is it then? Who causes monsters to act like this? To this day, I don't know.

However, something quite interesting happened. A slime was born. So, as I do with all monsters in the vicinity of me, I used a telepathy skill to see inside its tiny mind to try and analyze the voice...

But no message appeared, nothing but silence as the slime looked around itself innocently. I was astounded, could it be this slime held no contempt for beings other than its self, just as I? Slimes are naturally quite... stupid, relying on their instincts to live, without a thought in their little cores. But, with evolution and status improvements, they could become able to think.

Maybe, just maybe...

But, alas, it had already left my dungeon while I was left stunned. It was too far away for me to tame, and I was a bit... preoccupied, at the moment.

Humans were currently trying to kill me. Ah, yes, humans are quite unintelligent creatures indeed. While I had done nothing but exist, they still go out of their way to end me. But, I hold no hatred for them, still. These fine adventurers did not issue the request to subjugate me, nor do they know I am intelligent, just as they.

They are quite strong, despite being so young. They have a mighty fine life ahead of all four of them. So, I shall allow them to kill me.

I realize that this may seem like a foolish decision, but I am a being which reincarnates every time I die, a pseudo-immortal being if you will. As such, it matters not if I die here, but I must know what will become of that slime. Before I die, there is something important I must do.

I channel a large amount of my mana, converting it into attributeless mana inside of my mana core. Finally, I cast a long-range surveillance spell on the slime, so when I eventually reincarnate, I can know exactly what it has been doing, and as well what it is doing then. It is an invisible spell, so it will not interrupt the slime at all, a trait that belongs to almost all attributeless spells. The spell is stuck to its very soul, making it extremely hard for it to be taken off.

Now, with that, I can die. The humans seem to be frightened of what spell I just cast, readying defence-type magic in case of attack. The right choice if what I meant to do is attack.

"I commend you, humans. This battle has been splendid, You have undoubtedly won. You need not worry about the spell I cast, you may have my head." I leave myself wide open, not caring about the battle any longer, as it had become boring for me.

And so, I die.

I shall let the magic I cast survey the slime, until my rebirth.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
Jearbear Jearbear

Woo, a new series! And it's about a slime... again. Ok, ok, so if you're a reader of my other novel, I'm not cancelling that one, in fact, I've got a new chapter almost done. I'm gonna be trying to write both since I wanna write something new, which I haven't done in a while

And if you're a newcomer, Hi, I hoped you enjoyed this prologue of sorts.

Just so that you know from the start, I am very slow at writing, so don't expect very consistent uploads. I might upload 3 chapters a week, or I might fail to write for a month. Think of it like the lottery, but free and you don't get anything.

And with words spoken, goodbye
