Chapter 15: Chapter 15:
Nero made his way back to the camp, his fight with serpent moved them to another location.
He signaled Ichigo ahead to free the slaves and wait for him.
On his way back he pondered back on his fight with serpent. The way he used his water jutsu to increase the length and flexibility of his attacks was uncommon, he'd never even seen such usage of waterstyle in the show.
He could therefore logically deduce that it was an original jutsu and what gave serpernt his name since his movements were akin to that of a snake.
He wasn't too torn about not having information about the jutsu though. Having a plethora of powerful jutsu was no doubt useful, but the downside was that people used handsigns to better control chakra which wasted precious time since in a fight those few seconds mattered, people like Kakashi or the Uchiha could also decipher a person's next attack just by the signs they weaved.
But the sage of six paths and Kaguya could achieve more devastating results without handsigns. Granted they had monsterous levels of chakra and Hagoromo also had natural chakra at his disposal so his feats were next to impossible to replicate for any normal shinobi.
Nero didn't care however, his focus wasn't on fancy attacks like fireballs or waterfalls. He simply desired to engineer a way to use chakra that could achieve effects similar to Guy's 8 gates. He mostly sought techniques that could enhance a person's strength,speed and endurance so he never really put any other technique in his eyes. However, there were exceptions like the flying thunder God technique, the reanimation jutsu, medical ninjutsu, the rasengan and its variants and other special jutsu that fell into special elements like yin or yang, maybe even a few kekkei-genkai.
For now he didn't have the luxury to do further research on them however, for one konoha's forces could be approaching to destroy Soragakure at any moment and when that was done, Nero wanted to make sure he was there to acquire the 0 tailed beast. From what he had gathered from the movie he watched, there was a way to use the beasts chakra to increase a person's strength, speed, endurance and regeneration by leaps, but if one wasn't careful the negative chakra could corrupt them and drain all the life-force from their body.
A risk well worth it in Nero's eyes, if he did his research thoroughly and built machines that could help prevent such an outcome then he'd gain immensely from the experience. There was also the possibility of his plan failing since he had no chakra to speak of in tge first place, to the laws of this world he was a foriegn entity and therefore some rules did not apply to him.
If attempts at stabilizing the chakra for human usage failed he already had plans to refocus the 0 tail's chakra to more industrial uses, like a power grid, military weapons manufacture and maybe even a pet if all other tests failed.
After walking for a minute, Nero finally arrived back, he found Ichigo dutifully waiting as the rest of the slaves stood by nervously. They still had a lingering fear for him and it would probably never change.
Of course he also couldn't just kill them, some of them were still willing to serve him, he also couldn't kill the ones most likely to betray him because he'd only cause more mistrust towards him.
After a long minute contemplation, Nero finally decided on a course of action that would ensure some level of relief to all parties involved.
"For reasons I'm sure you all know, I can't let any of you walk away. But I also won't kill any of you, so I'll ask one last time. Become my subordinates." Nero said calmly to everyone.
A few tense seconds passed by, three tiny figures stepped forward to show their allegiance. From there everyone else also joined them albeit some of them reluctantly.
"Good, since you chose me as your leader I'll grant you power, serve me with your lives and put my orders above anything else. From there your mostly free to do as you please, I give you a month of freedom before your next mission whether you'll go back to the five elemental villages to carry out revenge is up to you. Staying and training your powers more is also up to you." Nero said seriously and walked towards each of them. He injected all of them with the same nanites as Ichigo and stepped back.
There were a multitude of different reactions when he did this, some people stepped back fearfully, some stood impassive and one adolescent girl even protected a smaller girl when he tried to inject her, Nero managed to ease her worries and soon enough everyone had nanites laying dormant within their bodies.
This time Nero started of slow, the people showed some discomfort and a few grunts of pain once in a while but they didn't react as harshly as Ichigo.
"It will take a week to complete integrating the power into you at this rate, for those who want me to speed up the process just say so and I will, but I'll warn you now you'll experience pain beyond anything you've ever felt till now." Nero informed.
"Please do it, I can handle it." An adolescent boy requested, he stared up at Nero with determination and burning vengeance seemingly impatient.
Nero didn't need to hear him twice, he willed the nanites within the boy to speed up the process and watched as the body fell to the ground, he writhed in agony but never let of a scream, not even once. Both Ichigo and Nero stared down at him, shocked because the pain was no joke. Ichigo even knew it first hand.
A few other also requested Nero to speed up the process after seeing seeing boy, in their minds if a preteen boy can handle it so could 20 year old men and women. This was a big mistake however since all of them started screaming in pain as Nero sped up the process. The all regretted their hasty decisions but they couldn't even as Nero to stop.
Only two people seemed patient enough to wait the one week course, the two girls who peaked his interest. Nero could see some latent potential in the two, maybe he'd even put some extra work to train the boy and the two girls.
With the night ending on a somewhat good note, Nero decided to leave and head back to base, he attached everyone with a monitoring bracelet and handed Ichigo her new arm before leaving, he told her to meet with Ryōshi and help him obtain the seat of leadership in the gang.
He didn't expect any failure since Ryōshi was one of serpent's strongest men, he also had Ichigo assisting him and she could hold her own after going through so many cybernetic enhancements.
