Chapter 12: Preparation for the Tournament
Returning to my room I open the book on translations, and get to work.

Having read the book for a little, my mind begins to drift to the fights tomorrow.
'what will I even do tomorrow in the fight' I thought to myself, I had no real method with magic and my physical stats, from what I could tell, were underwhelming.
' Actually I probably could just forfeit' and as if to spite me I receive a system message

Looking over my stats I realize I had 57 stst points I had yet to use, ' I may be able to something with this'
After much contemplating, I came to the conclusion, I should focus on speed and magic but, not neglect the others.

Applying the stat points was a weird feeling. It was warm and I almost fell asleep at the feeling, it was comfortable and felt cozy.
Giving myself a quick check and moving around, getting used to the physical stats I nearly doubled. ' I'll need to get somewhat accustomed to this later'
Looking over my skills once more I could only grimace at the low leveled skills.
' System other than extreme amounts of use, is their any other way to level up a skill?'

I look back at my skills and try to decide on what to upgrade

' Three for one level! Fine.' clicking Y I level it up to three for 9 Skill points. I have prepared as much as possible, now I only have to wait and see what happens
I go back to reading the book when I think about, how It got slightly eaiser to understand the book and memorize it with the increase of intelligence.
' I wonder if the Nexus could help too' I turn it on and it was amazing. Everything seemed to slow as I became aware of everything in my line of sight ever little detail became obvious, and with this I begin reading again.
I can only describe it as amazing. I had gotten through half of the book in just under an hour and I could remember everything. All the words and translations, spelling rules, and exceptions, I had learned the fundamentals of the language in just an hour of having the thing on. I then realized the door was about to open, so I turned it off, and as Caroline walked into the room, my brain felt as if someone drilled a hole in my skull and blended by brains into a liquid. I fainted.
Waking up I find myself being carried like a doll by Emmy, while standing in a massive group of other kids, while a speaker was talking to them. I was utterly lost partially due to the fact I had just woken up and because I still had a massive migraine that was threatening to crush my head again. Believing I could just rely on Emmy for the details I go back to sleep.
~ The next Day~
Waking up I notice A screen standing in front of me.

I notice Oreo stir awake and I pick him up and set him in my lap, looking at him he doesn't seem any different.
"Good morning Oreo" I whisper not wanting to wake the others up
' Good morning' Oreo replied in my mind, his body stood up and stretched out and he looked like he yawned but no noise was made
" Do you feel any different?" I ask concerned of the notification I saw changed anything with Oreo
' No I feel fine, but I did notice I changed last night. I now have a weapon Form, no clue what it looks like but I hope it's cool
"As long as your fine, anyways I have work wana come with?" I ask " Or would you prefer to sleep some more?"
' I'll do both, I'll come with and sleep on your head.' Was Oreo's response
" Alright" I see that Emmy and Caroline are sleeping, so I took the pocket watch Kline have me and noticed it was 4:30 I take a paper and write " At 'cafe' - Alice" quickly, after getting dressed and went down to meet Kline
" Good your here I want you to get into your uniform and make sure all the tables are clean , I'll teach you a bit do you can be helpful and we can go more in depth later" Kline then handed me a bag
' The fuck is this?' I think when I take the cloths out of the bag. In my hands was a black and white maid outfit, and the uniform looked like it was modeled after a gothic victorian maid dress and had alterations to make it seem more accented and impressionable while still maintaining it's modesty and functionality, despite this it still had lots of frills.
I have been doing well being a girl, I may have had my male pride, but I also had a pride in my ability to adapt, and a love for cute things but, this is just demeaning and I felt my pride as a person being shot. I reluctantly put the outfit on after remembering the trouble of finding a job and exit the room, leaving Oreo on my head.
" Took you long enough, We have about an hour before the real rush begins so pay attention" Kline begins explaining my job, the setup of the tables, how the orders work, and other little tips and tricks that may make things easier
" Before we start, would it be possible to get a change in uniform?" I ask, hoping I could get rid of this embarrassing outfit
" Nope, I owe someone for that, so you are going to wear it or you can find another job" Kline said, distracted by something behind the bar
With that I could only swallow my shame as people started coming more often, and like like Kline said, around six it was full of people, Kline was in the front dealing with drinks and customers not sitting in, while the cook who I have still yet to meet Cooks in the back. I on the other hand was the runner, I took orders from people who were eating at the tables, and brought the food to them. It was efficient, but I feel if anyone who didn't have some prior training in this, tried they would have failed. The rush was hectic and the job that should have been just barely manageable for nine people was done by three. As the rush was dying off I see some familiar faces.
" Emmy, Caroline Morning" I called out as I was busy bringing food to the last Group already sitting. Making sure their was no one else that needed me I walked over to them
" Hello Alice how are you this morning" Caroline asked while I was embraced tightly and snuggled by Emmy who only said "Cute"
" Fine I guess, oh" looking down at the pocket watch I had in one of the pockets of my uniform, I notice It was Seven
" Kline, it's seven do you mind if I get something with my friend and leave with them" I call out to Kline who was cleaning up the bar
" No problem your shift is over. Also be sure to keep your uniform you'll need it from now on" He called over to me
I flip Kline off as I walk over to the bathrooms to change, he seemed confused 'Is that not a form of disrespect here?' Shrugging to myself I thought' I know what it means so whatever'
Using the system to change, which still is one of the greatest things ever, because I don't want to take years to get ready, I exit the bathroom and rejoin the others.
" That was quick" Caroline said, to which I simply nod
" Can you tell me what I missed yesterday?" I ask sheepishly
" Sure you didn't miss much, the assembly was mainly welcoming new students and explaining the competition, the competition is simple, no stat changing items or armor allowed and no killing each other, the fights will be 1v1 matches. For us their are 8 separate arena's each holding 16 students in the end the first place winners of the eight rings will have another competition to determine the strongest for the first years. Their is also an insensitive for the students to do well, A prize for the top eight, each student gets to pick one item from the guild vault." Caroline seemed excited over the tournament
" I am as prepared as I can be, but do you know the average power of the other first years" I ask, I just don't want to be destroyed in the first few seconds of the fight
" I'm not to sure' Emmy chimed in. While Caroline replied "I have absolutely no idea, but that's what makes it fun" she was laughing and said this with a big smile
' For a person who wears all black you smile too much' I thought while shaking my head at her antics.
We order our food and I once again get an omelet, but this time it was made by the cook and not Kline. Kline's was good but this, this was pure bliss.
We finished our meals and Caroline and Emmy paid for their food, after which left left. The good thing about me working at the guilds restaurant is I get free food and a small paycheck, so it's a win, win.
We all head out to the training field where the competition is going to be. We see some incompetent newbies practicing out on the field looking like they were trying to show off before the competition.
I sit with the others in the corner of the stone seating surrounding the arena and I begin fiddling with my Sunfire magic a bit to see if I can control the heat and intensity, don't want to burn someone alive, probably.
Time passes and I stop practicing so I can fight with full mana. The stands are beginning to fill and I see some people I knew entering the arena. I ran down to the group of three and bring them to the others to introduce them.
As I bring them up I begin to talk to Emmy and Caroline. " Hey Caroline, Emmy, I want to introduce you to some of my friends" I yell to them " Okay" I hear as a response from Caroline as she starts to walk over with Emmy
Suddenly Caroline and Emmy stopped, staring at my company. Ignoring their gazes I begin to speak " Caroline, Emmy this is Jacklyn, Grant and Blake.", "Jacklyn, Grant, Blake this is Caroline and Emmy."
