Chapter 3: The Fix

12:16am

_________

The streets were busy. The smell of street food filled the thin air. As people walked by they could see ally cats running, trash flying in the wind.

Off in the distance, the sound of gang members filled the ears of the innocent.

Wilson paid it no mind. He lived in the middle of it. A decent-sized house on Hower Street near the suburbs of Black Lock City. The most dangerous area.

This area is known for murders. No matter how rich you are, how famous you are. Avoiding such violence is nearly impossible. If these people knew how much money Wilson had, he'd be robbed every day.

People struggled to live. Struggled to find food or a good job.

Wilson sits at his desk. In the middle of the house, he lived in. On each side of him was a large set of stairs that twirled along the walls that lead to the upper floor.

Wilson couldn't give up. Couldn't allow this project to go to waste. He sits there with screws in his hand. A sheet of white paper in the other as he stares down upon this cyborg.

"Take it easy there, bud. Tighten it a little more," Wilson whispers.

Focusing closely he watches as his eldest son leans forward on top of this cyborg, tightening a screw in the tight spaces of this cyborg's arm.

Wilson and his eldest son, Mason both wearing a pair of goggles that allowed them to see better when making this.

As Mason tightens, a spark of electricity shoots up startling both of them.

Mason jumps back a little.

"Whoa!" He says.

Mason and Wilson both chuckle at the situation before continuing the process.

"Almost got it..." Mason lifts his chin trying to see what he was doing a little better. His hands were still as he placed a chip inside its socket.

"DONE!" Mason smiles.

Wilson stands and grabs his clipboard. Mason quickly drops the screwdriver and taps on the desk. Bringing up a hologram keyboard and a large hologram sheet that seemed to be floating above the table.

This hologram was a touch screen.

Wilson checked off a few things before putting his reading glasses on and spreading his fingers out on the hologram zooming in on this cyborg's body.

"We went wrong right here. Her breathing system didn't circulate all the way through last time. Slowed her heart down tremendously. Meaning if she is successful, she'll most likely be killed with shock if not handled the right way." Wilson holds a pen to his mouth.

Mason sits at the rally chair and looks at the cyborg on the hologram.

Her arms spread out, legs spread out as she rotated ever so slowly to get a 3D vision of what she looks like alive.

"I think we are all good for testing right now. No one at Central Labs is helping me. So thank you. We'll start off with a small spark. If that doesn't work we'll go up a notch," Wilson says.

Mason nods.

His long black hair covering his forehead as the back of his hair touched his shoulders.

He stands and Wilson grabs a pair of goggles before he sat this cyborg on a restraining chair.

Mason leveled the chair up as Wilson plugged two cords in the back of her neck.

"Any of you two need coffee?" Both Wilson and Mason look up at the top of the stairs to see Mason's mother standing there.

Mason gives Wilson a look before turning back to his mom.

"We're busy, thank you."

Wilson continued.

Walking over to a small lever hooked up to a solar-paneled generator, he took a deep breath.

Mason stayed close to the plug next to the outlet in the wall 13 feet away from the cyborg. Just like before. The cyborg's head was down, arms and legs strapped down.

"What's wrong? Pull it?" Mason asked.

Wilson shakes his head. He then let the restraints go.

"Dad! What if she goes rogue?" Mason stands in a confusion of what his dad was doing.

"And what if she doesn't? Waking up and coming to life strapped down to a chair with no explanation could startle her. She has heart problems. I don't know exactly how to fix that but for now, we need to take caution of what we do with this cyborg," Wilson informs.

Mason swallows nervously and nods softly.

"Yes sir," he says.

Mason kneels back down next to the plug.

Wilson heads over to the lever. Slowly placing his hand on it, he closes his eyes and begins to rethink his decision.

"Better hope she doesn't question why two random ass dudes are just standing there watching her if she wakes up," Mason mumbles to himself.

Wilson pulls the lever.

A jolt of electricity shoots into her neck. Her body gives a jerk and the room got quiet. She was so still. No shaking this time. Wilson watches her ever so closely.

Mason stands slowly. Arms to his side as if he were trying not to make any noise.

Like that, her middle finger twitched. Mason jumped back a little as all her fingers began to move. From where Wilson was standing he could see her eyes open. Her head still down and her hands now balled up.

"Unplug her!" Mason mouthed those words.

Wilson's heart began beating faster than ever. It was beating so fast he could nearly hear it.

Each and ever step he took, it felt as if he were risking his life. His hands were sweaty, his nose was sweaty, his face was hot. Wilson was now right there.

Reaching over her, he lightly pulled the plugs from the back of her neck. but he nearly had a heart attack.

As he unplugged the last one, she lifted her head.

Her eyes a beautiful baby blue. Mouth slightly ajar. He could see the sparkle and the light coming from her as she admired his face.

Wilson couldn't help but smile.

His eyes began to water as he placed his hand on the left side of her face.

"M... Melly?" He whispered.

The cyborg looked at him with the most happy expression. Her eyes larger than that of a human almost as if she were a living anime character.

She lifted her arm. Like in the movies, when she moved it sounds as if a robot was doing so.

He could feel the sensitive touch of her metal. This special metal that allowed her to feel and have the ability to have a sense of touch.

Wilson backs away happily as the cyborg looks around confused.

"WE DID IT! WE FUCKIN DID IT!" Mason screams. Wilson smiles. His heart still racing but of happiness.

Mason hugged Wilson tightly before spreading his arms out.

"Come! Come over here!" Mason called to the cyborg.

A smile ran across her face. But as she took a step forward, she began shutting down. The room went from good to depressed in less then three seconds.

The cyborg took a step. Her eyes lost color and shut, her arms dropped to her side as she began tipping over to fall face flat to the ground. Mason leaped across the floor catching her just as she hit the ground.

"NO! NO! NO! NO! FUUUCK! NOOOOO!" Wilson began banging his fist on the expensive desk he had.

"WHERE THE FUCK AM I GOING WRONG!?" Wilson cried.

Mason lightly laid the cyborg on her back and stood up in a hurry.

"I know! I know what's wrong, dad!" Mason rushed over to the tool drawer. Wilson watched in anger and sadness as his son rumbled through the trash tool drawer.

"The battery we put in her can die." His son then pulled out a small chip.

"Remember when you built me that drone that can never run out of battery? It's controlled with this chip that is generated by the energy of planets, stars, and our Sun. If we place this in the heart of her, she will no longer need to worry about a dying battery. And yes I did take apart that drone, but that was because I was curious on why I didn't need a charger," Mason explains.

Wilson shot up with excitement.

"YES!" Wilson screams.

He grabs the chip from Mason and rushes over to the cyborg but was stopped.

"Stop!" Mason put his hand on his father's shoulder.

"Doing another jolt of lightning could stop her. She is part human after all. Let her rest. The next test, we'll do in Central Labs. I'll be there with you," Mason sets an agreement. Wilson looks down at the cyborg.

He nods and looks back up to his son.

"Alright. Help me put her in a bed," says Wilson.
