"Hey, I'm not going to die now," he patted my head and gently stroke my hair.
"Maybe later, so you can let go of me as of the moment."
I know his jokes are bad but this one is the worst.
It made me hugged him tightly as I could, knowing that this might be the last time I could be with him.
"I won't let you die. I swear you won't." I said firmly.
I felt his arms hugging me back. His hands started to tremble and his breathing became heavy.
"If you won't let me die, could you stay by my side?" He asked with a pleading voice.
I looked at him and he was no longer in his usual serious face. His eyes are no longer in its dull form, all I can see now was agony.
The look on his face totally broke my heart. It screams total sadness right now, a thing I've never seen before.
"I will." I said, smiling, to ease his pain even just a little.
Back then, he promised to protect me.
And so he did.
He promised to bring me to light even though I was a complete darkness.
And so he did.
Now, I promised to protect him.
I promised to be with him.
And so I will.
Even if it means losing the one I love the most.
