Chapter 129: When Everything Comes Together
"Professor! Professor!" Kitty rushed towards Xavier who was getting annoyed by all the phone calls he was receiving.
Putting the handset down, he smiled at the young mutant.
"I am glad you are safe, Katherine."
Henry, the Beast was sitting on the sofa and staring at the news.
"The New hero defeats the villain of India!" The reporter yelled and proceeded to show a picture of Markus ripping apart a hooded figure.
"He is obviously a menace! No hero acts in such a brutal way!" A middle-aged man yelled. "He is not a hero! He is a menace! An abomination!"
"He is at it again…" Beast sighed. "This J. Jonah Jameson guy can't just let us mutants live in peace."
Kitty frowned as she heard J.J. Jameson's report. "Can we please not watch this guy?"
Beast shrugged. "Alright."
He changed to another news channel, and even that one was talking about Markus.
"Professor, did you send Markus to help us?" She asked the bald professor.
Xavier shook his head. "Markus is one of the Hanley sons and Hanley has a lot of power within S.H.I.E.L.D, so it is more than likely that it was S.H.I E.L.D or Magnus who sent him."
He sighed. "How are the rest?"
"They are recovering." Kitty said. "And James went to meet Magnus Hanley."
Xavier nodded. James had worked under the Hanleys' in the past and had a good relationship with Magnus. And when he once read James' mind, he learnt that Marcellus saved his life. But that's all the information he could find.
He didn't know about the alterations made by Markus that prevented him from reading memories relating to any of the important events.
And as he was talking with Kitty, he received another call.
"Hello?"
"Professor."
Xavier knew that voice very well. It was one that was engraved in his head.
"Magnus, how may I help you?"
"You must have seen the news." Magnus said. "And with that, you must know that the media is going to cause an even bigger ruckus once Markus is done with cleaning the underlings of Jester."
Xavier agreed with Magnus' statement. It was going to be troublesome dealing with the media.
"The Hanley Group is going to handle the repair cost of NYC and some of the other families are also coming to the aid… They mostly want the fame but even within the fame-hungry people, there are a few decent ones. My wife's family… The Braddock family is going to deal with the cost of repairs in England." Magnus said. "But that is an issue that we are going to deal with, I called as the reporters are going to come at your doorsteps as well, Charles."
Xavier frowned as he knew it was true. "I know that. But I will protect my children at any cost."
"I know that." Magnus said. "But you all need to do an interview. As the leading institution for mutants, you are needed. And… Markus has some plans which he will be discussing with you personally."
Xavier would have liked to keep his children away from the drama but he knew that it was pretty much impossible at this point.
"I am busy with S.H.I E.L.D and the Nation Leaders. So, Markus will deal with the media while I deal with the political side." He took a deep breath. "You are to aid him during that time."
Xavier thought about it for a while. "If in order to help my kids, I have to stand against the media… I will."
"You are not going to stand 'against the media, you are going to stand 'for' Markus. That's it. Nothing more and nothing less."
Xavier wasn't too fond of the plan but he still agreed.
"Very well then… Once Markus returns, I will be with him."
"Good. And take care of the kids, Professor. They are special."
With that, Magnus hung up.
'You don't have to remind me, Magnus. I know that they are precious.'

[The Order]
The campus was filled with mutants, mutates and humans alike with murmuring echoing throughout the area, as they watched Markus fight against the masked members of the Order.
In the hallway that was closed off to the normal members, the meeting of the High Table was held.
Bloodstone had a massive grin plastered across his face when he saw Markus beat the living shit out of his clone.
"I am glad it's my clone and not me out there." He laughed. "And I must say… Our leader is quite the actor."
"That he is…" Sable said. "But his actions have risen quite a lot of trouble for us."
"That is true." Moonknight said. "Especially the factional wars…"
"He said he will deal with them once he gets back." Selene sighed. "And do not forget that he has already been doing so much behind the scenes… You cannot expect him to carry everything on his own. He built this empire and as his people, we have to support him."
Bloodstone agreed. "She is right. And many people within the underworld believe that the Jester was a pawn of the Elder. And that's exactly what Markus wanted. To gain a heroic name by killing Jester while not letting the underworld go to waste. So, he kept the Elder… who no one other than us knows of."
"He doesn't exist to begin with…" Sable mumbled.
"Exactly." Selene said. "But they don't know about that. They were terrified of the Jester and they believe that the Jester was terrified of the Elder which makes it far easier to deal with the current situation. They will not go against the Elder."
"Correction. The smart ones won't, the stupid ones… They sure will." Sable sneered and the rest nodded.
"But that can be dealt with easily." Selene said. "Markus is cleaning the underworld of people that are looking for a chance to betray. So, it also works in his favour."
The High Table nodded.
"And now you know what we all have to do." Bloodstone said. "Establish a new system as Markus said in the past."
"Yeah." Everyone nodded.
And as they agreed, the reporter screeched.
"The new hero has defeated the villain of England! Captain Britain and the new hero are now coming out of the battlefield! We will keep you all updated, so do not change the channel."
