I sit in the lab as a mild headache runs through my head. I've only been home for a day; in case you are wondering, my surgery was last Saturday, and now it's Friday. The pain meds only do so much before I feel like I need to down some more. I can't afford to sleep more as Dr. Pillow asked me since I'm so close to hacking into Lilia's old phone to find out who is the mystery number.
I groan as the group walks through from their training session with Hank, "Hey, Dr. Kellie what are you doing?" Ryan asked as he sits next to me at the large table. "Trying to track this number without being tracked me." Ryan nods as Violet sits next to him as everyone has done a lot to keep me in eyesight. Even the children of the 3rd creation are keeping me close, when I go to sleep, Darek has asked that I sleep with one of the kids. It's kind of annoying, but I know they all care about me more than I know.
Sighing heavily, Lilia stops to look at me, "Are you feeling okay?" I rub my head, "No not really, my head is killing me." Lilia smiled, "Remember, Dr. Pillow, said it'll be a couple of weeks before its over, but you can take pain relief now, it's 2 o'clock." Oh, thank heavens, I pull the bottle out of my pocket and pile out two. "One, the doctor said one, Grace." Darek said as he swiped the other pill, I groan, "Please let me take two." Darek crossed his arms, "Grace, I know you've read the side effects." Right anymore than one and I'll be passed out for days and might not wake back up.
I pop the pill in my mouth and take it with some coffee. I feel the pill drop in my stomach like a rock. "Let's take a break." Heath coming from nowhere and removing the phone from my hand. They all push my chair down the hall until we were in the green hall where we all sat around the table the children had some game out. Violet had no problem setting everyone in, but everyone doesn't understand that I want to work.
We've been playing games for over an hour I don't even think they realized that I fell asleep. I sigh, "Oh good you're up." Dr. Icy was sitting next to me, "You fell asleep a while ago, and everyone packed up and left, Darek stayed with the kids and to my surprise I found you sleeping." She smiled at me, that face said it all, you're doing what the doctor wants you to do. I grab my phone and check the messages from the six.
My head pounds when an unknown number appears on the screen. Dr. Icy had gone over to her daughter while I read the text. 'Dr. Grace Kellie, you don't know me, but I know you and would like to offer my assistance in helping you cure your headaches. Let's meet tomorrow afternoon around 3o'clock? Would that be a good time for you?' this is quite an alarming text, but I'll do anything to get rid of these headaches. I ask the mystery person where they replied quicker than I thought they would. 'We can meet in the parking lot of Galaxy Burgers; I'll be under the rocket-ship sign.' I agree and set my phone down.
The only concern now is how to get past the others. I can hardly use the restroom without someone joining me. Sighing I walk out of the lunchroom, I head for my room trying to figure out a plan to keep everyone away from me tomorrow since is Saturday and the six like to hang around for the kids. My head slowly begins to ache again; I can't sleep all day I'll get nothing done.
Darek is walking past my room, "Oh good, are you about ready for the weekend?" Right, Darek is dead set on giving the boys a stronger sense of family, so that they don't screw up later in life. I shrug, "I don't really know if I packed or not." My memory is still fuzzy, Darek seems excepting enough, "Come on, I'll help you get your things together." This is good, the boys live right now the road from it, I can play it off as me just going for a quick snack.
I walk into my room as Darek found my suitcase from last week, I sit down and watch him open my closet, "Alright what do you want to wear? It'll be chilly this weekend so something warm." I feel so out of it, usually, I would be turning bright red with the fact that he's in my messy and disgusting room, but the girls cleaned it along with the boys to save my face. I stand up and dig through my closet to help Darek find something in the mess that it is.
I do finally find some clothes to wear and pants. Darek packs them and replaces my slippers for sneakers. "We won't be going anywhere that you'll need these much, but you do need to wear them so your slippers aren't dirty." I nod and change them, I like how nice Darek is, I like his smile, his cologne, and his knowledge of simple things. He showed all of us doctors how to easily get a ring out of the drain, just early. He is a mystery, but I like the mystery that he is.
I throw underwear into my suitcase just in time for the dizziness to set in. I sit back on my bed, "Alright the boys said that they'll be waiting outside the compound." I look at him as he moves to the doorway with my things, "Are you coming?" I huff out a shiver, "Can I take my medicine?" Darek looks at his watch, "Not yet, by the time we get to the apartment you should be able to take it." I nod ready to shove that crap down my throat. We walk to the exist the kids are staying with Dr. Staff this weekend; he and his wife are happy to have small children run around the house. Sei is going to be watched by Dr. Icy and her husband they don't plan on doing anything this weekend except help their daughter settle for the upcoming daycare selection.
I walk over to the latter out, I push a button on the wall, as the latter started to move up. I grab and set my feet on one of the grips, I normally would walk through the school, the found a gas leak in the basement so they moved the normal kids over to the local church where they are studying for another week. I watch as the hatch opens and Heath grabs my hand. I'm pulled out as Darek crawls out of the hatch Darek takes no time in talking to the boys.
He smiles at me as Tucker seems annoyed with the whole idea, but this is what I wanted after all. "So, I was thinking that tomorrow we watch a movie and maybe bust out the videogames and see who can live the longest in the party pack I bought." Ryan wanted to groan, but held it back, "Alright, we should head to the apartment the night is set and I was thinking about reading over some of the Hero rules and laws protecting us tonight." Heath said as he can't lie to me, I know he and Lilia are still on rocks.
Sighing; he screwed up and made a mistake, that scared her. Lilia was just as powerful and delicate as the flower her hormone she was infused with. Heath grabs me as we take off, it doesn't take long for us to arrive at the apartment, we land behind the building where there were no windows. We walk up the stairs and stopped in front of the two doors, I stay with Darek and the boys continue to live in their apartment, I have an odd feeling it won't be like that for long. I've already canceled the rent agreement when it ends in four months.
The boys will move in the compound or they'll fight me on it and move in with Darek who will enjoy the fatherly duties that come with that. I walk into Darek's apartment as Darek hands me a pill, "You can take one now." I speed over to the sink and drown the monster it was as the pain grows stronger. I hate this, headaches are monsters and deserve to die. "So, do you want to lay down until diner? The boys and I agreed on Chinese?" I nod, "Yeah, I need to get my things put away real quick beforehand." I shuffle down to the second room next to the bathroom and open the door and find the still neatly made bed, it was a cozy bed, but I'm sure Darek has a nicer bed.
Sighing, I shove my clothes into the drawer. Darek walks in, "I was thinking about going shopping later do you need anything?" shaking my head I throw my shoes across the room and cuddle into the bed.
When regaining consciousness, Darek had returned and I looked like a hot mess, but he didn't seem to mind. "Grace, I hope you slept well." I smile, my head is starting to hurt again, but I can bite through it. "I did, but my head still hurts." Darek smiles, "I mean you had to get eight stitches in your head, plus a fancy new hairdo." He said while running a hand through my now shortened hair. "Do you like it?" I ask getting nervous and shy, Darek gives me a gentlemen's smile, "I do, I think it's befitting of you." I give a giggle, it's like when I was meeting Flint for the first time, he was a very good smooth talker.
Darek pokes my face, "I think the boys are getting hungry, would you like to go ahead and start ordering?" I shrug, "Sure, we should go next door and talk to the boys, I'm sure they want to decide for themselves." Darek nods as he grabs my slippers for me and sets them on the floor. We walk out of the apartment and over to the neighboring door. Tucker opens the door looking nervous as inside the girls sat on the couch Yukii was tapping her foot vigorously, as Violet bites the end of her freshly painted nails, and Lilia paced. "Hello girls, it's almost family time, are you joining?"
Lilia turns her head to me, "Dr. Kellie is there a special Hero media?" I think about it but nod, "Yes, they're pretty much the paparazzi, but these people have weird odd end jobs." Lilia pointed out the window on the other side of the apartment of a group of people holding interview recording equipment, stood by the bakery door. They had two passes, one was a normal press pass and the other was defiantly a Hero Pass. They ignored everyone who walked in and out, ever once and a while Violet's father would walk out and yell at them for loitering.
Yukii walks over and glares, "They're at all of our houses but the compound and here, they keep asking us questions that had to do with those pictures and some kind of trail." Well, that was fast, "I see the Hero Press has finally found something juicy enough to stick their teeth in." There is never much news for them, and this trail is giving the Hero media something to look into, their news has been dry: with no scandals, murders, heroes turn villain, and or a hero death. No joke, this has to be the biggest story since the Riverside scandal.
The girls looked out the window as the guys try talking to them. "We decided that until the trial is over, we'll live in the compound. The Hero Press could cause an unknown uproar in this town." Lilia said, even the normal press left her and her family alone, plus the other trail that Lilia will have to be in against that Hugo guy will be in a few weeks, I found it funny that he's trying to charge Lilia with nearly killing him when her body and hormone reacted to her saying no. Plus Heath was the one who beat the snot out of him.
I feel Darek place his hands on my shoulders, "Well you can stay here until they leave for the night, and tomorrow we can help you pack, while Grace is napping from her pain relief." That's it, they'll help out in the afternoon since Yukii helps the white belt class, Violet has a shift in her family bakery, and Lilia has some shareholders meeting with her grandparents. This is perfect, and I'll make sure to take my medicine a little earlier so I can wake up around three!
The girls stay and they wind up staying the night, with their families' permission since the press wouldn't leave them alone. I cuddled into the bed with the girls in the neighboring room, sleep found me a lot faster than it used to.
Morning came as Violet and Ryan went to work, Yukii went to the dojo to help her father and Tucker followed he wanted to take a class even if it was with children. Lilia returned home to get ready and Heath is still on probation, but he's going to this meeting under the watchful eye of Mr. Riverside and his son-in-law Mr. Applegate. I had a nice and quiet morning with Darek. Watching the tv and just being normal for a few minutes. Darek wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we watch tv. I blush a little as his hand rested at a respectful distance, since the boys were placed in my care this is the first time I've been in a relationship.
I move a little closer and smile at him. Darek seemed to brighten in face color as we enjoy the Saturday morning classic. Around twelve we go to the other apartment and begin to clean up the floor and do the dishes. We finish in time for Tucker to walk in, "Hey," I said as he grunts and walking into his room, I hear shuffling, and him grabbing a basket of clothes, "Going to do some laundry before we help the girls move in."
I nod that was Tucker's words for I'm moving in with Yukii until otherwise. Not long after Ryan entered, he smiled at us which was better than Tucker, "Hey, how was work?" Darek asked as Ryan shrugs getting into the fridge, "Work as always, we don't get many big orders and only people in town stop by so, it's more like chatting it up with friends then going to icing a cake, the pulling pastries from the oven letting them cool. Vee and I talk with her mother as her father, starts showing off his skills as the other envy that I've even been allowed into the kitchen." Darek gives a cunny smile, "Is the kitchen a place for; family?"
Ryan popped a grape in his mouth, "Yep, apparently, Vee's uncles and a couple of aunts come and have met in the kitchen and trade recipes when they find a new one." I smile knowing the dark secret that even Violet doesn't know yet, I'm sure they are actually having meetings about mafia things. "Anyways we talked to her parents about her moving into the lab today, they were taken aback, but once we discussed the reasoning and what was best, they agreed. Of course, I was told that I would meet a strange end if anything happened to Vee, but we're moving in with each other, until further notice." Ladies and gentlemen, there it is Ryan's honest answer.
He takes the grapes to his room and begins to pack I would assume. It's nearing 2 o'clock when the door opens again, I just woke up from my medicine induced nap. "Welcome back." I turned towards Darek's voice as Heath walks in, the suit he had on was very nice and befitting of him. "Hey, I'm grabbing my things to move in with Lilia, I should be finished by diner time so we can have our family weekend." Heath doesn't bother really looking our way, "Well if you're moving too, we should pick everyone up in the van and go shopping when we're done." Heath looks over, "Sure, Dr. Kellie will you come with us?"
This is my chance, "No, I should stay here and rest some more." Darek and Heath both nodded, "I'll be taking your medication you've been good today but who knows, you might sneak some while we're gone and I don't want that." Yeah, not gonna lie I was tempted to all day. I smile at them as Heath ignores my smile, "Well I'm going to pack I told Lilia I would pick her up in a few, we should be gone around three in the afternoon." This is perfect, almost too perfect. The pain returned as I wave them off.
I sit in the dark living room watching an old tv show, it was nice to remember something so funny. I heard footsteps, "Alright, you boys ready?" I hear a few groans, but they all come out of their rooms with a few bags, some with clothes and the other was filled with things to keep them entertained while down in the lab, if I wasn't working all the time, I'm sure I would wind up board too. Heath had an extra bag, I'm assuming this is that special work laptop he was saving to get, Heath must already be making a salary over there at Riverside Toys. "Bye, see you boys tonight!" I say as they return it in unison.
Okay, now it's time to act! I scuttle over to Darek's apartment and grab my tennis shoes and brush my hair before pulling it up above my head. I grabbed my lab coat: it makes me feel safe. Then I lock both doors as I slowly walk out into the blinding autumn, I turn about and return to the apartment for my sunglasses and found my cellphone sitting on the counter. Good thing I returned for these. One more time, this time: I'm ready.
