Chapter 7: Chapter 7- New Shadow Abilities
"I am the Shadow Lord?!", I asked myself, "what exactly does that mean?"
I heard an announcement.
"And the victor is... Draven Reyes!"
I was amazed that I won. The principal walked up to me when they finished clearing the maze.
"You have great potential in you boy", he said.
Naturally, I would've been proud and excited by this comment. But I was busy and filled with questions.
Then I remembered my mission, to meet my brother.
"Umm, sir? I am asking for permission if I am allowed to go in the outside world and search for my brother", I said.
He looked up in the sky, probably thinking what his response should be. Then, he looked at me.
"Alright, you seem like a very powerful student, but you must bring companions", he said, "also, take this bracelet, it allows me to track your movements and your health at all times."
"Thank you for everything sir."
I ran excitedly to meet my friends. I won the Chaser Event and I got permission to look for my brother.
"hey, congrats man!", Jon said, "I was the third person who got eliminated , this lizard looking thing was camouflaged and hit me with its tail by surprise."
"Nice, but anyways, I got the permission to go meet my brother!", I said.
"Right, but what about your ability. Do you feel stronger?"
"Yeah! Let's test your ability, let's go to the training grounds", Gabbie said.
"All right, but first, I'm going to go visit Adrian at the nursery."
As I stood there, watching my friend, I thought of how weak I was that I couldn't even protect him.
"It's alright buddy, I won the event", I said, "is he going to be alright?"
"Don't worry kid, he's just in a small coma. It should pass in a few days thanks to my healing ability", the doctor said.
"Thanks for everything doc. I'm going to go now, I'm meeting up with some friends."
I walked out of the nursery and into the training grounds. Suddenly I stopped and noticed a kid getting beaten up.
"You piece of trash! How dare you bump into me. I come from a very powerful family and I can make your life a living hell!"
I walked up to the bully and punched him in the face. I've always hated bullies, harming those that are below them.
"Oops! Sorry, that was just an accident", I said.
He stood up and looked at me in the eye. I can tell that he was getting ready for a fight, charging his ability.
It wasn't even a fight, I just blinded him and he kept punching the wall. Others students saw what was happening and immediately started recording his stupidity.
A teacher noticed the commotion and walked up to the bully.
"BOY, YOU ARE DAMAGING SCHOOL PROPERTY!" She said, "COME WITH ME NOW AND WE WILL DISCUSS YOUR PUNISHMENT!"
He tried to follow the voice since he was still blinded, but instead, he ran into a wall.
Finally, he could finally see and he kept glancing at me with a massive bloodlust.
"I will remember this."
I helped the kid that he was bullying and went on my way to the training grounds.
I saw my friends waiting for me.
"Sorry guys, a mentally challenged kid was damaging property."
"I don't even want to ask", Jon said.
"Okay, let's start testing your ability. I wonder what improvements you've achieved", Gabbie said.
I still wondered why that voice called me "the Shadow Lord". I didn't tell this information to my friends because they'll probably think that I've gone mad.
I showed them the shadow wolf that I can create, but I already knew how to this even before the Chaser Event.
I tried to think of what shadows could do. Then, I remembered that I read something about shadows.
A persons shadow is always present. Because of this, Egyptians assumed that a shadow contains something of a person it represents. They believed that the souls was made up of different things. Shadows are one of them.
I remembered this and I just had to try something.
"Hey Jon, mind if I try something on you?"
"Yeah sure, whatever."
I tried to focus on his shadow, trying to find grab a piece of his soul. If this worked, then it means that I can control people.
It must've been a few minutes of staring at his shadow when someone finally said something.
"Look, I don't know what your trying to do, but you look like an idiot."
I looked up and saw that Gabbie was the one who talked.
"Ahhhh, that would've been so cool! Never mind, I'll try something else", I said.
While I thought of what to do next, I told my shadow wolf to come back. It went inside a shadow like I told it to.
"Hey what is you can create like a shadow that can destroy anything in its path? That would be too overpowered!" Jon said.
I tried it out on a little test dummy. I tried to think of the shadows grabbing it and putting it inside, but instead of putting it in a void, it would destroy it.
The shadows grabbed the test dummy and started to glow a little red or orange hue, like a black hole. Then it destroyed it, no pieces remained.
"Oh my God, that is a very powerful skill, just make sure to not accidentally kill your allies with that", Gabbie said, "especially me please, I still like living."
The whole afternoon went by quickly and we managed to find a lot of useful skills. I could make anything from my shadows, even artificial wings, which was very useful in combat.
Another skill I learned was shadow generation. I figured that since I could make my wolf, I'll make little soldiers to fight my battles for me. Of course, this skill takes up a lot of stamina, and it seems like I can only create ten soldiers for now.
Finally, my trump card, was the ability to enhance my body. I didn't show this one to my friends yet, since it still needs improvement. Basically, I covered my hands with shadows to have claws which is very helpful with close range.
I kind of made shadow armour for myself. But since my ability is kind of for assassins, I made light armour so that I can be agile and durable at the same time.
"I should be ready for now to face the dangers ahead of me" I thought.
I went back to our dorms. I looked at myself in the mirror. Claws black as night were attached to my hands, wings that can come on and off at will, and finally, shadows that can destroy anything in its path.
As I looked at myself, I realized that the voice in my head was right.
I am the Shadow Lord.
