Chapter 5: Chapter 03 : How we become friends
Some seniors came to tell us that, we have to go and introduce ourselves to our department seniors. Pretty much all of us was really nervous about this introduction thing.
Min Ae-ri was afraid, so everyone was telling her it's gonna be okay. Contrary Gyeong was pretty confident. Among them I was nervous, but was trying to act like it's nothing.
It was a normal introduction and everyone was doing pretty good. It was my turn then. I mustered all my courage, moved a little afore and started my introduction-
- "My name is Park JJin-ae ... [ I stuttered ]
...And I lost all my confidence I gathered for this moment.
Me, who isolated herself in her room for 5 months straight, who didn't interact with people except for her parents over a year, I thought I was gonna be okay while all these sunbae-nims, my classmates were watching me and only me ?
[What are they thinking about me when I'm this pathetic....]
I was sweating, I was shaking and I couldn't make an eye contact with anyone...My heart was beating so fast that I think all of them could literally hear it clearly.
I think I was going cry for sure, if Gyeong wouldn't have put her hand on my back-----
- "It's okay...We're right behind you", Gyeong whispered.
- "Don't be afraid...hwating~", it was Min Ae-ri.
I started again ,
"Hello....My name is Min Ae-ri. I'm 20 years old and I'm from Busan"
This time I didn't stuttered....

It was not that scary as we thought it would be. Our sunbae-nims were not half bad . 2/3 of them tried to act bossy, but others were so nice that we just enjoyed that time.. We danced, showed our hidden talents, played games ...
One of our third year Sunbae-nim named Ji-hoon , singed a song while playing guitar.. I could tell, all the girls in the room were thinking the same thing,
"Boyfriend Material"
Jung Ryung also sang a song. I swear I felt like he was the descendant of Gi*n and S*nio (famous D*reamon characters) ----
Then we got drunk and we just forgot who were the sunbaes(senior) and who were the hoobaes(juniors) ..And after having so much fun it was the time to go back to home...
Min Ae-ri lived quite far away at her aunt's house, so I told her to stay at my place instead.. Min Ae-ri and me were not that drunk, we hardly drank something. On the other hand Gyeong drank everything she was given.
Ye-jun took her home. While Min Ae-ri and I were heading back, but something happened---

Two weird guys stopped us. They were drunk,
- "You girls are freshmans right?"
- "We are your sunbae-nim~ from another dept."
-"Really!!! Freshman this year's are pretty cute~"
Min Ae-ri is timid girl. She hold me tightly. I said, "We are really sorry, but we don't know you.."
We tried to avoid them. But they blocked our way.
Even tho we were still close to campus area, there were not many people on the street as it was pretty late.
I had Gyeong and Ye-jun's contact number, I tried to call them hoping for they were still in the area.
But one guy hold my hand- " I told you we're your sunbae-nims. Are disrespecting your sunbae-nims? HUHHH?"
They started shouting and both of us froze.
We were holding each other.
- "Sunbae-nims huh??"
Jung Ryung came out of nowhere....
He said, "So which dept and year are in you guys Let's find out, if we told the authority, two of the drunk students stopped two of our girl students at night and shouted like dogs, I wonder how will they think about this little manners session?"- and glared at them.
They kinda ran off saying some nonsense, I didn't pay attention to that. Because I was watching Jung Ryung, he looked like the coolest person on earth that time..
He asked us if we were okay and walked us all the way to our apartment..We exchanged our numbers. He told us to send a message after entering in our room.
Me and Min Ae-ri looked through window, 'Jung Ryung didn't leave until we confirmed that we've entered safely into our room'.
Min Ae-ri was tired so she went to sleep.
As I was awaked,I remembered thinking,
"Nope.. We are not going to be friends" – about Jung Ryung.
In our life we always tend to judge people too quickly, even before knowing them properly. Everyone has bad and good sides. We often see only one side and pass the judgement. When it's really important to see both sides of the coin before judging it's value.
I decided tomorrow I'll go to Jung Ryung and ask him myself-----
[The next Day]
"Jung Ryung can we become friends?"
He answered,
"We are already friends."
After hearing the incident Gyeong and Ye-jun was really worried about us. Ye-jun was so mad that he wanted to file a report. But me and Min Ae-ri stopped him, because we didn't wanna attract attention on the very first week.
They were really impressed with Jung Ryung.
That day after the classes were over, the five of us stayed at the campus late, chatted a lot and had so much fun.
And that's how Park Jin-ae, Soo Gyeong , Kim Ye-jun, Min Ae-ri and Jung Ryung become friends.....
