After a broken night's sleep, we both slept late. And so did Tom. So it was a slow start to the morning. The sun was high and bright by the time we were all in the kitchen for breakfast, and I could see Kelly looking out of the high windows in the kitchen to the trees and sunlight outside.

"Did you want to eat outside this morning?" I asked her.

"Is it safe?"
