Chapter 7: Chapter 7 - The Forest is deserted?
Five days have passed since then when Alex arrived in this world. The Quiet Maple Woodland. Also known as the nest of different types of wyverns, is a woodland located south of the Elven country.
An Island we're mostly trees can only be seen while the creatures living are wyverns. However, this Island is famous to be called a gold mine. Where other countries wanted to kill the wyverns and sell them at higher prices.
"Captain! We're almost there!"
"Aye! Prepare to dock boys! We have wyverns to catch and women to pay!"
"Ayeeeee!!!!"
The captain encouraged his men to raise their spirits while they were busy doing their roles. Some prepared their rifles and some loaded the canons to support fire from their ship.
"Father... Something is wrong. There are no Zinogres on the beach!"
The vice-captain informed while still using his telescope. Zinogres should be at the beach at this time of day while looking for their food. But why there is not a single one of them? It made the vice-captain nervous because there is only one thing that could have caused this.
"A larger predator? No, maybe they are on the other side..."
Either they were scared away by a strong monster or they are on the other side of the Island. But that would be impossible because they know the other side is a territory of different wyvern species.
"It seems like something has happened here." The captain spoke, his eyes slightly closed to feel something within the air and the crew followed him, looking at the empty beach. This wasn't what they were expecting.
They thought a fight will start the moment they at least get closed to the beach but not a single wyvern was trying to stop them.
"Captain? Should we dock and check what is happening here?"
"Aye. Send our best scouts and tell them to be careful. If they feel endangered, let them retreat."
Receiving the order, the scouts immediately jump off the ship, using a small boat to reach the beach first. Then, three of the scouts separated from different directions to check the perimeters effectively.
The rest of the crew, about 40 men, were preparing traps and Mini-Ballistas to shoot the wyverns when flying. All of the preparations are done, and they only have to wait for the good or bad news.

"Alex? Paimon is hungry..." Paimon complained as she was sitting on a log, that Alex cut down making their temporary camp. She pressed her stomach while her legs swaying back and forth, waiting for Alex to finish cooking the giant fish they caught.
"Only a few minutes left and this will be cooked. Don't tell me you want to eat raw food?" Teased Alex as he turned the fish to grill the other side of it.
"Paimon doesn't like raw but Paimon is already hungry. The fish smells good Alex..." Though she said the fish smells good, her gaze landed on the person who was cooking the tasty looking fish.
They were having an idle chat about what Alex will do next. First, he has to register as an adventurer because the I.D can be used as a pass to be able to enter the Labyrinth, villages, and other countries as well.
It has been five days since Alex arrive in this world and he was getting stronger at a frightening pace. Still, he has to be careful sometimes because there are still a lot of powerful people in this world. However, in what Paimon told him, he will catch up to them in just a few more months, or if luck is on his side and Alex might found some treasures for combat, it might only be weeks.
Also, his shadow army can't be taken lightly. They are getting stronger that will make those elite soldiers and adventures having a hard time killing at least one of them. He also found a drawback in having a lot of minions. It will reduce the speed of his growth because many will divide the essence to what they kill, that is why he has only 300 of them for now.
"I don't have any limit in summoning minions but my growth will go stale. That's why I have to add minions wisely." Alex explained to the adorable fairy that was munching the grilled fish beside him.
Alex can't deny how cute Paimon was behaving because of how she listens attentively to him. While munching her food, she doesn't care facing him that made her look cute.
"How about in the Labyrinth? You can make your minions stronger because the monsters will respawn at a fast rate! Paimon can give you advice. When there is a blood moon, the monsters inside the Labyrinth will get stronger and they respawn fast so it might be the best choice to get you and your minions get stronger fast!"
The numbers of wyverns inside the woodland were decreasing because of Alex. That is also the reason why his growth is only improving a little in the last for days
"Alex... Paimon sensed something."
Paimon stopped eating as she looked at the area where the beach was. Alex also sensed something so he put out the fire and followed Paimon that was leading the way.
"Alex. There's a ship over there. Paimon thinks that they are pirates!"
Both of them are at the top of the tree, still unseen by the pirates. They were preparing traps and other war-related equipment on the beach for hunting the wyverns.
"Captain. No wyverns at the westside."
"Also none on the east."
"North is also clear, captain!"
All scouts reported that the beach was deserted, making the captain angry because they wasted resources just to come here and was expecting to have a bigger catch as they were confident in defeating the wyverns. But now, they can't find a single wyvern.
"Maybe the elves took all of them down, Captain. If they did, we have to wait at least a month for them to reappear!"
"Damn It!" He cursed. "Tell the others to go back to the ship! Those fucking elves monopolizing the wyverns!"

"Alex, let's hijack their ship! You are stronger than them."
"That is what I am planning. If killing them is the only solution, I'll kill them... Arise!"
The pirates on the beach felt something odd, the air became cold and the sands started to tremble. Shadow creatures risen from the sands and all of them recognized that they were the wyverns living on this Island.
"Fire!!!"
