Amy reminded herself of that moment an hour later when she stood, hidden beside the house, breathlessly watching Aiden face down all three of them—first Chase and the guy whose name she could never remember who was a Shine spy, and then, later, Kate as well. 

\When her sister appeared out of nowhere, Amy had a moment that took her back a year. Her heart leapt and she almost cried out to her. But she snapped her mouth shut and reminded herself that Kate was a selfish traitor. 

She reminded herself that Kate being there, seeing Aiden, was the best possible outcome they could have asked for.

Amy hunched behind a clump of bushes at the corner of the house, watching for her moment. But she couldn't miss the conversation. Aiden had warned her before this began that he had to be the old Aiden, the one who'd wanted and manipulated Kate. That he had to be angry and vengeful so that when Derek showed up there was no chance he'd question Aiden's loyalty.
