Chapter 4: Revealing
Back on Andara a thick night fell, covering the land in pitch darkness. Silence rested in the mansion, its residents deeply asleep underneath, only soft snores of two guards could be heard up. Bellow was dark, everyone was in deep somber, curled up in their rooms. Unaware to them a short build fat wolf emerged from bushes on one side, after couple of circles around, he tried to open one window leading to cellar. With little dificulties he managed to crawl inside. Changing into his human form, he tiptoed past the sleeping pack, careful to not make a sound and slipped into hall eading to the teleporter. „After all these years, the betrayal was good for something." He mumbled slipping past sleeping silhouette of young couple curled into each other. As he silently padded through the corridor of dnes, his tail accidentally brushed against something. The male stopped turned behind with his eyes narrowed, trying to see what he hit, after moments of looking into the dark seeing nothing, he dismissed it as just a wall and carried on.
Ubeknowst to him, he brushed against Maki, blonde furred female, she grumbled something turning away from entrance. Suddenly faith scratching on the hard surface grabbed her attention, pulling her from sleep completely, with quick glance to her side she spotted Tamika asleep beside her, her head turned to the wall, Maki thought for a while before another name came to her, „Dewey? Is that you?" she whispered hissing. When silence was the only answer she got, taking deep breath, she plunged into the corridor. Following trail from her memories she soon poked her head into Luis and Dewey's den. Frown appeared on her face as she spotted both of the brothers curled up in each corner snoring softly. Maki shuffled forward quietly, making sure she didn't make noise. „Dewey?" She whispered poking the reddish chestnut coated wolf. His eyes fluttered before opening, „Wha- Maki? What are you doing here?" he asked completely confused. „Something brushed my cheek and then I heard footsteps. I thought it was you being sleepless again, but as I went to check up on you-„ End of her sentence became muffed as Dewey covered her mouth, „What?! You heard footsteps?!" he shouted in whisper glancing at his brother to make sure he didn't wake him. „Yeah." Maki answered annoyed for being interrupted, „Wasn't it Tamika?" Dewey asked knowing his coworker's insomnic tendencies, „No, she was deep asleep right next to me." Maki answered, Dewey nodded frowning in the darkness, „Follow me." He hissed quickly, Maki opened her mouth to ask something else but Dewey was already up and raced out of the den, Maki sighed and followed after him, „Can you slow down?" she called after him little too loudly. Dewey forced himself to stop and looked at her.
„What's going on here?" Osmi asked in tired voice before parting his jaws in huge yawn. „Shh! Be quiet!" Dewey whispered shooting him quick glare when Osmi opened his mouth to ask. „Someone's down here with us." Osmi glanced from one to other, „Tamika's insomnia has returned?" he finally asked, „No." Maki answered, „Do you really think we would make such fuss if it was Tamika?" Dewey asked him, Osmi shook his head, „No." He admitted.
„Who is it then?" he asked, „And where did they go-„ his second question was answered by loud crash coming from their left. Dewey took lead, racing through the maze of tunnels until the portal, lighted up by faint light of luminiscet crystals, could be seen ahead. Maki and Osmi quickly caught up to him, „Who is it then?" Osmi asked again, this time with tint of worry in his voice, „We don't know." Maki sighed, „Yet." Dewey added pointing toward the portal. Without other words he creeped into the room and hid behind nearest machine, signaling his packmates to do the same.
Soon enough small rounder silhouette appeared on one of the walls, „Wait, ins't it-„ Osmi's voice was cut of by Maki,'Quiet' she mouthed to him, nodding he shut his jaws tightly.
„So those idiots really did it. I'm surprised." The male wolf told himself circling around the portal, unaware of his company, „Railey will be so pleased." He chuckled to himself.
„Pleased with what?" Osmi growled jumping from behind the machine catching the fat male of guard. Turning around the male sighed in relief, „Ah! You're MaxWolf's newest apprentice. The one she let live." He grumbled with visible disgust, „Pleased with what?" Osmi repeated baring his teeth, low growl escaped his lips. „None of your business." The male told him with scowl,
„I think it IS our business," Dewey said as he and Maki crawled from their hiding spot, „when you're tresspasing and breaking into our home, Daniels." He growled casting a glare Daniels's way. He looked at them, „You're calling, this junkyard a home?" he barked out laughing, „Stop changing subject!" Dewey howled coming closer, his claws making screeching noises as he dragged him against the metal floor, fur ruffled up Maki copied him, blocking Daniels his only exit. Osmi came to stand beside his friends watching the traitorous wolf with hostile glare.
Daniels laughed loudly, „Oh, is this some fighting stance." He mocked them coming closer, he stopped beside Dewey, „Poor you little puppy, you unfortunately didn't get your brother's charm, you just made him as awful as yourself." Dewey glared at him, but kept silent, knowing very well his provocative techniques. „And you," now he was bothering Maki, „I remember now," he spat out leaning closer, „You're that new Simon's slut." Maki's eyes lit up with anger instantly, „How did you call me?!" her voice husky and deep, Daniels brushed her cheek with his tail, „Don't act like it isn't truth." He cooed at her.
„Maroon, no!" Dewey yelled as Maki jumped at Daniels, jaws snapped around his ear as she clawed away his face. Daniels looked at her with a smirk. Suddenly he turned around, catching her of guard and with a jerk of his head making her fall down, now above her he placed his paw on her flank pushing her down, his other paw gripped her jaws holding them shut tightly. Maki was trashing herself violently in attempt of freeing herself.
Dewey jumped at Daniels from behind, but he stepped aside before Dewey could land on him, crushing onto Maki instead, she winced in pain as Dewey's full weight fell onto her. „How pathetic." Daniels sneared at them with disgust in his face. Turning to leave, he was suddenly pinned down by Osmi who used his monologue to sneak behind. Daniels looked at him, „Is this all that Mistake taught you?" Osmi opened his jaws, but suddenly was hit by Daniels's hind leg getting off balance, before he could get his stability back, Daniels slammed onto his side making him crash into the floor, „Remember, pup." Daniels mocked him, „Never go into fight you'll lose." With that he slashed at Osmi's face
Osmi seeing how the paw got closer suddenly felt wave of adrenalin and grabbed the paw with his jaws, sinking his teeth in until metalic taste filled his mouth. He then got up and slammed Daniels down with all his might, „Take it as payback. Jerk." Osmi sneared at him mocking him by copying his tone. Daniels gave him dirty smirk, „You sure about that?" As the question left his mouth he swung his hind legs making himself get up. Without waiting for his next move Osmi leaped at him, but missed as Daniels moved to side. With his escape being free now, he ran into the corridor again.
Osmi helped Maki and Dewey up before following him, „Warning! Warning! Intruder!" he howled as loud as his vocals allowed him, praying someone would wake up, but as he finally arrived to the dnes, he saw Daniels slip through the window outside.
„What's going on?" Tamika asked joining the now fully awoken pack in the hall, Dewey and his two friends looked at each other, „Daniels broke in and slipped past us as we slept. Luckily he woke Maki by accident. We followed him to the portal and tried to fight him, but he overpowered us." His voice fell silent as shocked gasps filled the corridor, „How's that possible?!" Willow asked, „It's easy, unlike him we don't use dirty tricks." Johny said, looking at the frightened female with sympathy. „Let the fight be. He now knows we repaired the portal." Osmi said in harsh voice, „And we all know who's to discover it next."
„MaxWolf? As if Aura's brother?" Nikki asked, „Yup. That's me." Matthew said scratching back of his head, „I thought you seemed familiar from somewhere." She chuckled to herself, „Well anyways it's really nice to meet you, but why did you exactly come to me?" she asked gesturing them to sit down. The trio exchanged quick glances, unsure how to start. „Well, you see…it's kind of…complicated. To explain I mean." Mikey mumbled something to broke the thick silence, „Please excuse him, it's his first time he's talking with human in sobber state." Lucille said without thinking. Nikki arched her eyebrow, „First time talking with human?" Matthew facepalmed himself, „Alright you get us." He said throwing away his hat to reveal his small cat ears, Lucille and Mikey followed exposing their unique antlers and ears, „We're not from Earth." Matthew said trying to explain everything, Nikki just laughed, „What's so funny?" Mikey asked with slight annoyance, „Nothing, just, your sister uses the same technique to mask her features." She answered, „Don't tell us. And who do you think came up with this ridiculous idea?" Mikey mumbled with eyeroll earning smack on the head from Lucille.
Before anyone could say anything else the cabinet's door opened and Renni came in. „You won't believe what just happened-" she stopped in her tracks as the trio came into her view, „sorry, I didn't know you had company." She apologized sitting down behind her desk. „No need to apologize, miss." Lucille said softly, „We wouldn't be here if his sister wasn't a total moro- Ouch!" Mikey yelped in pain as Matthew pinched him, „Since when you're like your sister?" Mikey asked rubbing his thigh, „Since I'm living with her." Matthew answered with a shrug.
Before Mikey could say something else, Lucille covered his mouth, rolling her eyes as he sent her half hearted glare. „She's close." She whispered ignoring the teachers' confused looks. Matthew and Mikey nodded, tip toeing toward the door, the boys looked at each other. Nodding in silence the opened the door slightly.
As if on clue, Lucille trashed her hands forward creating tangled vines who quickly sneaked to the door and out, eyes narrowed in focus with slight glance aimed at Matthew who waved his hand. With radiating energy Lucille flung her arms backawrds, causing the vines return to the cabinet, who with the same force as their creator threw someone into the room. With one last wave the vines dissapeared as fast as they were created.
Aura walked through halls. Water dripping from her hair soaking her fur, making her shiver. Lost in her thoughts, she padded past her head teacher's cabinet when the door slightly opened. Curious she slowed down, just in time to see as vines sprang forward wrapping themselves around her body. „What the-„ the question got stuck in her mouth as the vines turned around sending her into the small room with such a force she literally float through the air.
Her flight didn't take long though as she soon crashed into something, opening her eyes just slightly, she saw very familiar striped cloth. „Are you alright?" Aura's ears shot straight up, eyes wide she quickly backed away from her, now frowning, professor,
'Dammit. She's gonna totally kill me after this! Frick, we have chemistry the first lesson today! And she has questions! I'm definitely doomed!' The young werecat panicked in her mind, pressing herself against the wall.
Sensing her unease Matthew firmly grabbed her shoulder leading her to Nikki, „This is our alpha." He said sending Aura forward, „She's gonna explain the situation and our plan to y-„ „But we don't have plan!" Aura interrupted him argueably, „And there's nothing to explain." She hissed additionally turning on her heels.
Without hesitation Matthew grabbed her wrist making her stop in her tracks. „Please forgive my sister. She talks nonsense when she's stressed." He said with a chuckle, „In reality, there's a lot to explain, but" he paused and looked at his phone, „it looks like time's out. How unfortunate." He finished sending glare to Aura who fiercefully returned it with bared teeth. „If it's that important," Nikki slipped into the conversation, „I have first two lessons free. And I'm sure my colleague wouldn't mind being late either, right Renni?"
Renni glanced from one person to other, „I don't see why not?" she said with bright smile looking at Matthew,
„Great. Now I'm stuck here." Aura groaned mumbling to herself, 'And what's worse? I'm stuck here with her while she's befriending my pack.' She added in her brain. Motioning for Matthew to start talking she stepped aside, letting her brother take the stage. Taking deep breath Matthew looked at the two teachers, „The truth is, we came here to warn you. You're in danger."
