Chapter 28: Lot of Trouble
"Lisa!" Maya shouted.
'What timing' I thought.
"What the hell are you doing?" Maya asked.
"Oh... um.. I was just showing Mr Oliver my capsule" Lisa said.
She was definitely nervous. Mr Oliver also seemed weird.
Whatever the case she was frightened by Maya.
"Showing?" Maya asked. "I didn't realise showing meant letting him use it"
"Uh... well" she stammered.
I stepped in.
"You said I could look around so I did. I found this and thought it was interesting so I asked her to do that." I said.
Maya turned to me. "What you did was extremely dangerous. That is prototype tech. If something were to happen to you. Besides she shouldn't have let you."
I responded. "I'm the CEO's son. She couldn't refuse when I threatened to fire her"
I made it up but I didn't want her to get in trouble.
Maya looked at me with a hint of doubt but I acted just like a rich kid. "I'm going to be in charge of this company one day anyway so I think it makes sense. I could get rid of you too if I want" I said callously while looking at Maya.
"Well until that day comes you have no power as your father does not condone this type of behaviour." she said to me with a disappointed look.
She then told everyone, "If and unless the CEO says, all of you should not submit to this type of behaviour".
She looked back at me. "We're leaving now"
She had obviously lost a considerable amount of respect for me but I didn't care.
She started walking but before I could leave Lisa held my hand.
"Why would you do that?" she asked.
I knew what she was asking about.
"It's because of me that you were in this situation. I don't want anyone suffering because of me." I said.
I left before she could respond.
Maya dropped me off at the villa and left without saying a word.
"I didn't realise she'd be so easy to trick" I said to vetala.
"The seemingly smart ones are always stupid huh?" he said.
"So am I stupid too?" I asked.
"You don't seem smart at all" he said.
"Screw off" I said jokingly and went inside.
I went inside and changed back into comfortable clothes which was a relief cause the two-piece suit was so hot and itchy.
I decided that since I was free I could do a variety of things. It was weird since I used to be so busy but I was free a lot now. That was the change in lifestyle.
When I thought of what to do my mind immediately thought of net-core. However by now Max would have found out about the whole scenario where I moved and would nag me non-stop. I wanted peace and quiet.
My mind jumped to the missions of my system. The real world ones. However putting myself in danger in broad daylight was a bad idea so I decided on the workouts.
I activated the mission and it gave an on screen demonstration with a holo-model for each exercise.
One and a half hour later I was soaked in sweat. The workout had been tough but not impossible. The system had seemed to analyse my body and suggest a correct workout pattern.
I heard the notification 'ding' from the system.
-Strength stat+5
-Speed stat+5
-Durability stat+5
-Agility stat+5
All of my stats had increased by 5. That was as much as levelling up. That made my total stats overall 20 since I had levelled up three times in the fight.
If one punch at strength 5 could knock a normal person out what could 20 do?
I went to the kitchen and asked the chefs for lunch.
I took a shower and half hour later I was chomping down on the variety of dishes that had been provided.
The chefs probably had never seen someone eating this fast. I was practically inhaling the food.
"Thank you for the food" I said contently when I finished. Every plate was practically clean and there was nothing left on the table.
I started taking the dishes to wash.
"No we can do that-" a maid began but I stopped her. I was living in this house and it was my responsibility to clean up after myself. I couldn't let that part of me go even though life was better.
Eventually I decided that I should try out the moves I learned from the VR capsule. I went out for a walk and made my way to a secluded area. Luckily the place I was in had a lot of woods in the area.
Once I reached there I tried to remember what I learned. I tried out kung fu first. I kept on trying but I couldn't remember at all how to do it.
"Does it mean it doesn't work?" I thought.
I kept on trying to do what I learned but I couldn't.
I decided that maybe the capsule didn't work after all.
I took out my revolver after that just for practice. But when I started I found out that my accuracy was near perfect and same as that in game.
'What? How is my aim...'
I suddenly remembered about the capsule.
'Guess it worked after all'
