Chapter 2: 001
001- Where's Madam Ruby?
And that was the first sighting of the doll woman. And in February 8, 2015, the doll woman was caught. She was caught when she was killing a family of four in San Carlos. The doll woman is Revelen Roberts, and she call herself, the killer doll.
Years had past and there is no sighting of the killer doll or any murderous activities happens in the town of Tabaco.
This day is the end of summer vacation, so it means that tomorrow is the first day of school. So Maddy and Tobby decided that they'll spending their time together in Madam Ruby's Donut Express with their two friend, Aimee and Ethan, and they call themselves as best MATEs.
They arrived at the donut express in exactly 9:30 in the evening and chooses the table besides one of the big windows in this shop.
The waitress and the owner, Madam Ruby, goes to their table and asked what do they like to eat while having a fun, long chats together.
"Um one strawberry donut, one matcha box of matcha balls, two packs of chocolate cookies, and-" said Maddy, looking at Madam Ruby and pointing at her. While Madam Ruby is still busy writing their orders but Madam Ruby knows what Maddy's last order.
"Four Vanilla milkshake with chocolate frosting and a cherry on top." Madam Ruby finished.
They always hangout in this shop since they were first year in high school, that's why Madam Ruby already knows what kind of food they want to eat.
Madam Ruby left the four to prepare their meal. While the four started to talk to each other.
"So what's the good news?" Asked Maddy to Ethan, smiling happily. "Well... there's a good news and also bad." Said Ethan but, by looking at his face, he's not really sad about it.
"Okay. Good news first then bad. Go on." Said Aimee putting her elbow on the table and laying her head in her hands.
"So the good news is my mom is back from Canada," said Ethan and the three looked so shocked about the news. "And the bad news is she's pregnant and the father is a criminal"
And there was a seconds of silence between the four. They don't know what to say. They just stared at each other, looking sad.
"I'm sorry, Tan. I-I am really sorry." Said Tobby looking at Ethan. "I mean, atleast you got a brother now, or maybe a sister, right?" Said Aimee, trying to bring up the mood.
Aimee is the one who always change the mood from negative to positive. She is the most positive person in the group and it really helps a lot.
"Yeah, maybe that baby will become criminal someday, like its father. Killing five innocent children inside of the orphanage" Said Ethan, playing the role of the most negative person in the group. The three, again, was shocked of the word that came out of Ethan's mouth.
"Hey, hey," said Maddy, holding Ethan's left arm. "Maybe that baby isn't like its father. Just teach him or her a good manners and be a good brother to the baby"
Ethan just nods and looked outside, hoping that the baby won't be a bad guy someday.
"Um, so where's the father? Where is he now?" Asked Tobby. Ethan says nothing for a hot second and looked from Maddy(infront of him), to Tobby(next to Maddy), and to Aimee(who's besides him). "The policemen caught him."
"Oh thank God. I hope he'd stay in the jail cell forever." Said Aimee in relief
"Dead." Finished Ethan
The eyes of Maddy went wide. "Well I hope that man will burn into ashes in hell." Said Aimee with a little anger in its tone.
Now, yet again, silence filled the air in their area. Suddenly, Maddy's phone started ringing and vibrating inside her bag. She pulled out her phone and said, "wait, someone is calling me. Brb." Then she goes outside of the shop.
One of the waitress turned the television on and they just listen and watch to the news while waiting for their meals.
"Tonight's report is about the crash of one of the prisoner transport vehicle from Quezon to Tabaco this afternoon.
Not even a single passenger survived, but the driver is in coma and he's now in the memorial hospital.
The sheriff is still checking if all of the prisoners are dead because, the sheriff says, one of them is a dangerous person.
That is the flash report for tonight everyone. I'm Eva Grande, stay safe and goodnight!"
"Oh, my God. That's tragic. Who knows if all the prisoners were dead? What if one of them escapes?" Said Aimee, scared. "If so, lets just hope that it is not the "dangerous" one who managed to escape." Said Tobby and Ethan just nod.
On the other hand, Maddy goes outside to answer the call that she received from unknown.
"Hello?" Said Maddy anxiously and there was no answer from the other line. Maddy tried again but still, no one answered. She ended the call and she was about to come inside the shop when her phone recieved a call again. It was the same number who called her. She answer it again and she was about to say something when she heard a voice from the other line, "I'm back." And immediately ended the call without Maddy saying anything.
She put her phone down to her pockets and a loud bang broke the silence in Tabaco. Maddy run straight to the shop, nervously, and looked for her friends. She found them standing near the counter looking shocked and terrified.
"Was that a gunshot?" Said Aimee looking extremely terrified. "That is the first gunshot I've heard since, I don't know, 2015?"
They were all shocked of what they just heard. They just stayed there for a little bit and waiting for their parents to pick them up. One of the waiters also called 911 for them to be informed of what happen earlier.
One car just arrived and inside of it is the father of Aimee. Aimee said goodbye to the others and goes straight inside of their car.
The three waved goodbye to Aimee and went inside again for their safety. Maddy's phone started ringing again. She picked it up and went to the corner where no one can hear her.
"Hel-"
"That was a nice show." And hung up again. The person on the line was a woman. She is starting to feel nervous and terrified, not because of the gunshot or whatever it is, but because she think she knew who's the woman on the other line.
She goes back to the place where she left the two boys. "Who is that?" Asked Tobby, "Um no one. J-Just Aimee, saying we should stay safe and, that's it." Tobby seem to sense the lies of Maddy but he buy it anyways.
"Wait, guys?" Says Ethan, looking around like he's been looking for someone.
"What?"
"Where is Madam Ruby?"
And of course, one of the waitresses over heard what they're saying, so she goes to the kitchen and back to the dinning area again. And she looked horrified.
"What?"
"She's not in there." They looked to the kitchen area and the back door was wide open.
The four is now at their own homes, safe from the loose killer, whoever that might be. Maddy is in her bedroom, wondering about who called her when she's at the shop. Why did she say "I'm back"? And why does she know my number?
So Maddy decided that she will tell her friends about the call. Maddy invited Tobby in her room and they used zoom to reach Aimee and Ethan.
Now that they all settled and ready for the discussion, Maddy feel a bit nervous. "So I invited you guys because we need to talk. It's about the call that I recieved earlier."
Maddy told the others what the caller said and they were shocked and frightened. "And now I'm thinking, maybe that was the one who fired the gun earlier." Said Maddy in a slow and scared tone.
"Well let's hope not. But if that was really the one who fired the gun, then we need to find out who is that before she start killing other people in this town." Said Ethan
"True. And beacuse if that woman, we didn't even have a chance to eat our donuts and drink our milkshakes." Said Aimee and sighed.
"Oh... My... God..." Said Maddy, obviously in a terrified tone.
"What?"
"What Maddy?"
"Do you guys ever wondered where Madam Ruby is that time?" After Maddy said those words, everybody was speechless.
They been so shook of what they're thinking. It can't be. Madam Ruby is the most innocent and kind and caring of all people they knew.
The dark ends and the sun rises once more in the town of Tabaco. Schools are now opened again and students will be busy for the next ten months.
Maddy and Tobby are now ready for the next school year in highschool. They drive from their house to Ethan's and to Aimee's to pick them up. They always do this everyday when school is up. They really are best friends.
"That really sums up. Madam ruby fired that gun. I mean think about it, when that moment happened, where is she? Why is the backdoor opened? Why is that-"
"Aimee, Madam Ruby will never do that. I mean she's the kindest person I've ever known in this town"
"That is true Tobby, but we don't even know where she went that night," Said Aimee, "I bet she's guilty."
They arrived at the school and there is so many people now than before. And they also saw that the sheriff's truck is there. The hallway to their room are crowded with students.
"Excuse me? What is going on?" Asked Aimee to a guy that's infront of her. "They said that there's a dead body in B-17."
"That's our room." Said Maddy
Suddenly, the crowded hallway was split in two groups because the sheriff and other nurses strides through the crowded hallway, with the dead body, covered by a white fabric, in a wheeled stretcher.
All the students watched the body in the strecher while it's pushed by a nurse. They all looked horrified.
The sheriff and others turned left and suddenly the guy infront of the MATEs spoke "They say its Mrs. Marge."
"Who is Mrs. Marge?" Asked Aimee.
"The owner of the Donut Express, Madam Ruby."
