Chapter 2: A Post for the Beginning

My name is Kivas Charon, an orphan with one brother. He carried me through all of his life

Yet, I can't even carry him back... So, yeah! I'm a take-it-for-granted ungrateful bastard!

And what is worse than my blistered morality? The earth is no more! Or so I thought ...

October 25th, 2025

The judgment day. That's how I called it

The day that I'll never prepare in my whole life, it was so sudden. I usually sated my unneeded entertainment necessity and the next thing I know. An Angel ripped me apart

I'm already sure that I have a great chance of dying. I was naive to keep telling myself that I will survive — both of us will survive

Guess I'm also a hypocrite huh?

...

"You can open your eyes now, mortal"

What is that voice?

"Rejoice, you've been chosen"

I never knew someone voice this deep ...

"Open your goddamn eyes!"

Horrified, I followed this mysterious voice instruction, opened my eyes. Not knowing I have a physical form or even an eye. Didn't I already die?

Just when my gaze horizon saw the surrounding, observably. A vast white space with no known end. It was neither cold nor hot, hollow. In front of me, is the source of the mysterious voice who shouted

A fine man with vibrant golden hair, black iris with a white pupil eyes, shirtless on the upper half — numerous glowing tattoos depicting constellation and star and interstellar iconography presented all over the body. His lower half is covered in multiple-segmented armors. Mechanical, yet felt natural. As he put on a wide smile while crossed his arm, emitted an enormous and confident presence

"Who the hell are you? Am I still alive? Did I die? What the heck is this place!?"

"..."

This guy ignored me

Besides this cold treatment, I was surprised that I have a human physical form and comfy foreign attire. Ooh, fantasy-like! Neat

"looks like your soul is still the same when it was extracted," he said, turned his back on me. More tattoos are showed — I spotted a big dipper there

After a pause. He snapped his finger, several black cubes appeared. It swirled to materialize a majestic throne with a stair into the higher ground. I can hear the clang from his heavy lower part until he stopped walking and perished into many tiny cubes — followed him as he reappeared sitting on the throne and looked down upon me while maintained his viceroy smile

"Kivas Charon, xVagabond1099x, Smartass, Mr. Unsympathetic, Undying-Asshole, Big-boobs-Lover, and The Ballz"

...

He named all of my nicknames!!

Smirked, he asked "Do you regret it?

"W-what do you mean?"

"Do you regret it?"

Does he ask about my nickname? Or my past life ...

If it was the latter

"Yes, I regret it"

"Of course. It takes a toll on your soul"

He speaks as he knew every inch of my existence

"You haven't told me who you are "

"I haven't asked yet"

A sharp pain spread through all of my body. This person sure enjoyed to demonstrate his own strength huh? — he thought that this mere pain can assert the dominance of me that easily!?

"Impressive! I'll gladly keep that condition until it's your turn to speak!"

This son of-

"Hahaha! I was satisfied to get myself a strong-willed soul ... but I guess you'll not understand a single sentence that I say if you still clench every part of your body"

The excruciating pain disappeared. I'm on my knees, sweat is dropped. Let's think of a way to punch this person in the gut if I have the chance

"My name is Sarkha, and I want to offer you a contract"

After a few breaths and anger relief. I decided to play along "Why me?"

"You will know it In the future, the future that I'll create for you of course," Playfully. Sarkha created a miniature universe in his right hand while rested his head with his left palm

"Right now, your soul is on the verge of breaking. Usually, they will disperse and incorporate themselves with the universe. You're supposed to cease to exist from your last reincarnation and yet, here you are"

"So you say that I was lucky enough to even live my last life"

"Precisely, It's like someone or something is forcing you to stay relevant. Looking from the big rift on your soul, you only have one last reincarnation left. Are you sure you want to forfeit this one?"

'This one?' Did I do something similar to this? ... He put pressures on me, I can't back down

"What is the benefit of having a contract with you?"

"You'll keep all of your memory, I'll send your soul into one of my vessels — my acquaintance will integrate your soul with their service. Helping you in your next life"

"What is the benefit of having a contract with me?"

"By sending you into one of my creations. You will be the very first of my kind, and someone wanted a test subject before spreading their newfound service. It's a win-win situation for every party"

"What if I said no?"

"You notice that you don't have an option, yes?"

"Aren't you're the one who prevented me to go to my last afterlife? Sending my soul into one of your is just the same thing as snatching me from the circle of reincarnation"

"You got me there, mortal. Are you sure that you want to forget? Afterlife is not equilibrium as it seems. Didn't you say that you still have some regret left for atonement?"

Regret, I can't be tempted by that

Even the deadliest snake is the one who is cunning enough to conquer their prey. I will shift this conversation and try to measure what else he knew

...

I acted as if I was panicked

"What in the oblivion happened to my world!?"

"Ah, that is beyond my comprehension"

"Why?" so he is not omniscient, but I must consider all of what he said might be a lie

"It was only occurred on your world"

"What do you mean by that?"

Sarkha crushed the miniature universe In his right hand, The space dust hovered to the place right in front of me, emerged to make a crystal cube. The vision began to manifest inside of it

"This time, there is a version of you living a peaceful life, passing the exam with full mark, going into University, married or whatever a mortal call that"

Ednan is still alive by then ... So multiple timelines exist after all

"Did you notice anything strange in your world? A sign of anomaly perhaps?"

An anomaly. The weird-ass looking relic that was found on Antarctica — if I'm correct

Sarkha wry smile turns into a creepy grin "It was not supposed to be there. Someone put it in your world"

I don't like this person. I can't read him, he gave me a creep

But with all of these answers, I will try to dig more into his intent. I don't want to get scammed

At the same time. I want to know everything that he has to offer

"Can I change my past?"

"Ohoho, you can! the world that I will send you is none other than earth. Your version of earth to be exact"

This is too much of a coincidence

"Any question? If not, I will begin to send your soul into one of my vessels"

"So, no contract ceremony or some kind?"

"Pfft, what are we? A shaman!? I already embed everything that I need into your soul!"

So all of this conversation is bloody pointless!

"Well then, it's time for you to go. Bye-bye!" waved Sarkha

The wide space surrounded me began to crack, and the crystal cube in front of me was turned into dust and started to thrust my chest like a spear

"W-wait!"

My current physical form began to become more invisible. It was already set in stone from the beginning. Rendered all of my silly efforts useless

"Remember, you only have one chance. There is no afterlife"

My vision gradually disappeared. I can still saw this asshole grin. What a way to get evaporated

I freed my middle finger in the air and there goes. The last of my atom has been faded ...
