Chapter 2: Alex

Alex was scared, as he walked across the new school, he looked around to get familiarized with this new hostile environment. The place seemed pretty big, the white corridors spread across the entire school. And green rusty lockers were set in the walls. He thought about his life mistakes that all led to this, the last school that would let him in, it was that, or military school and he didn't want that. "This is it... my last chance." he chucked softly and ran his hand through his dark brown hair. "Oh, I'm a mess" he said with a sad smile. He kept walking, with his hands buried in his hoodie's pockets and his face buried in the hood. He was completely alone, well you would expect that if you came to school an hour earlier than usual, but he had to get out of his foster home quickly. One more minute in that house and he would loose his mind.

As he thought about all this he realized that two hours had passed already and he was completely lost and alone. He was supposed to be in the principal's office an hour ago. He stood still as a shiver went down his spine. "I can't even concentrate, on the first day." He sighed and sprinted in a random direction. He noticed that people started being present in the halls, so he continued in the same direction. He looked back as an instinct, since he ran away from foster homes so frequently, he couldn't avoid making sure no one followed him.

You know that scene in every cliche high school movie? When the guy stumbles by accident with the nerdy girl and the romantic side story starts? Well this didn't happen. Alex hit his head hard against a wooden door and immediately he stumbled to the floor. The room was silent for a second, until it burst in laughter, apparently every student in the school had to be in the same room at the same time. He blushed and buried himself deeper into his hoodie. So much that his brown locks covered his ebony eyes. He stood "I'm not going to survive" he muttered to himself. After that ridiculous but hilarious scene, he was about to leave with the other kids to class, since he was running late to everything. He looked back for a second and noticed that the door had a shiny metal plate with the word principal. He thought it was a waste of time since he was already late. But his consciousness told him to enter, so he did.

When he opened the door he could see a some black couches, brown walls, a gigantic desk with a big leather chair turned to the wall. Some diplomas in the walls and a gigantic coffeemaker in a small table at the corner of the room. "What do you want?" said a deep voice from the chair. Alex looked around once more, this office was entirely fancy, if you stop to think about it, he felt like in a Victorian manor and the master was on that chair. "I asked, what do you want?" said the principal as he turned in his chair like a James bond villain but without the cat. The adult's blue eyes pierced into Alex's soul, his red hair blazed as fire and his much larger body made Alex feel unsafe. Either way, the principal didn't look that old, maybe in his early twenties but not enough to match the regular principal image. "M-my name is Alex I'm the new transfer sir" the principal smiled at him and looked at a piece of paper that lay on his desk. "Alexei Smith, you're late, I've been waiting for an hour already." The principal said calmly, "Sorry sir I...got lost" the principal laughed "Don't worry about it kid, I couldn't care less about it." Alex relaxed for the first time in the day "Thank you sir" he said, still trying to figure out his age. "You wanna know my age right, many kids have asked me already." Alex nodded "You have no idea Alexei, now go to class, I don't care about you being late but Mrs Adams sure does." He handed Alex his schedule and told him to leave. As he closed the door and walked to English class with Mrs Adams, he thought about what the principle said "What does he mean by no idea?"

After walking into the wrong classroom a few times he finally found Mrs Adam's room. He looked through the large glass window. He saw a bunch of kids completely silent, and kind of scared, except for a tan girl with hazel hair and shining emerald green eyes, she had a little smile but she was as silent as all the other kids. He enters through the green door and to the class room. A beautiful woman holding a book was teaching, was she Mrs Adams? She had a slender figure, almond brown eyes and curly locks, so black the absorbed the light. She had a pale skin, the color of snow. She was the living embodiment of snow white.

Now you would think, this kind of teacher normally teaches preschool and is the sweet and kind teacher, the one that would help you if you had any trouble. Alex thought of it to calm his nerves, but he was interrupted by a firm voice. "And who might you be?" said Mrs Adams with a glare in her eyes. Alex replied in a stuttering voice "Hell- Hi, I'm Alex Smith, the new transfer student." She looked at him dead in the eye, in this moment Alex missed snow white's personality: non threatening at all. "You're 15 minutes late. Care to explain." Alex looked at her in the most serious and firm tone he could muster "I'm sorry, I was with the principal getting my schedule and then got lost." She looked at me in disbelief "Didn't a student show you the school?" Alex said quietly "No miss, the director told me to come here without any help." The teacher gestured me to get down and I sat down in the only free chair. I quickly glanced at the smiling girl, she looked so strangely familiar.
