Chapter 1: Prologue
Nathaniel and I followed the screams of terror through the courtyard and found ourselves in front of the doors to the ballroom. He told me to get behind him, which I did, but even that wasn't enough to hide the reality we walked into.
Soldiers and guards were slaughtering the same people they had sworn to protect without a second thought. Soon enough, a guard turned to us and immediately lunged at us with his sword raised.
Nathaniel pushed me behind him and drew his sword, to protect me. He managed to kill the guard, but as soon as he did, George spotted us. His eyes glimmered red for a moment as he ran at us, sword raised.
In the knick of time, Donatello jumped between us and began to fight him. He told us to run, but Nathaniel stayed to help fight. As this was all unfolding around me, all I did was stare at the massacre that was happening in front of me while trying to figure out how it even happened.
How such a joyous and jovial day took such a grim, gory turn.
