Chapter 17: Rudely interrupted
After Finn left I had showered gotten ready for bed, and started working on the assignments I had missed when I was in the hospital. It only took a little before I was all caught up and ready for when we all went back. My parents had come in late only waking me for a brief moment before hushing each other to keep quiet. When morning came I jumped out of bed excited to train again today.
I got dressed in similar work out clothes and went down to the kitchen to grab a bite to eat. Luckily I had made it before the hustle of everyone trying to make it to training on time. I grabbed a granola bar and went out side to sit on the field and enjoy the morning. It was another nice day. Not to cold out, this really was the best time of the year. Soon enough everyone started filing out sorting themselves for another day of training.
"Is this seat taken?" his voice was deep and silky taking me by surprise.
"N..Not at all." I watched as Finn sat next to me staring at me. "C..Can I help you with something?" his face was intense making me more nervous but he just smiled with that normal mischief in his eyes.
"Just this.." he leaned over and kissed me deeply. The sensation of his lips sending sparks flying all over my body and my heart fluttering. When he pulled away I was breathless, what was that?
My hand instinctively up to my still tingling lips. The smile he wore went huge as he threw his arm over my shoulder coming closer than normal. Fallon was apprehensive but was just as excited to be getting this kind of attention from our mate. The warmth from him felt amazing against the cool morning breeze. Leaning my head into his shoulder I figured I might as well enjoy this before his mood changes.
"This is nice too." I said quietly not wanting to sour the mood.
"It really is, but its time to go. You ready for today's lesson?" he asked taking his arm away and standing up causing me to shiver at the cold replacing his embrace.
"Where's Alice?" I asked taking his hand and getting up to. He looked into the distance, no doubt mind linking with her.
"She's helping Val today. Your with me today." he lead us over to a different circle that we were at before, this one was much smaller than the other ring.
There were much older warriors sparing in there, moving much faster and more serious. I realized this crowd was all the current betas and omegas. Finn looked at me and smiled big walking in the circle. Did he want me to study the top warriors? For some reason the smirk he wore told me otherwise.
"I have a hundred bucks for any one who can beat my mate." they all laughed as he gestured to me, Fallon growled at their ignorance.
"Yeah right, she's never even been in a battle. She wont last five minutes in this ring." Dean's father said sizing me up, not looking very impressed with my petite frame.
"Well lets put it to the test." Finn had a sly smile with pride evident in his eyes.
They all nodded agreeing to let me try, I went into the circle and crouched down in a fighting stance. I made quick work of knocking him down wanting to show him he was wrong. Fallon helping me more than necessary because of what he had said about us.
"That'll knock him down a few pegs." she huffed as he fell on his back. The crowd was silent but then burst into cheers. Almost all of them surprised to see I had taken out a beta with ease.
"Anyone else think they can take her, I have two-hundred on it now." Finn laughed holding his stomach and doubling over from laughter.
A few of them took him up on the offer but one by one I beat them, by the end of it Finn had a wad of cash in his hand. They all looked confused but proud to have me apart of the pack. The rest of the training session went fairly fast. They coached me on where I could improve. When it ended Finn took me under his arm again leading us to the house.
"Thanks for that, I almost have the full amount needed for the carnival equipment we need for the festival." he laughed as we went into the kitchen taking as seat at the table.
"Oh so I'm a cash cow now?" I scoffed at him, throwing a light punch to his side.
"No, your a sure bet." he winked at me taking a bite full of his pasta.
We chatted with the others laughing as we all ate our dinner. It was nice to finally be able to sit and laugh with my pack. Most of all my mate, maybe we could be like this regularly. Fallon was elated to be spending this much time with him, and how he had been treating us since his promise. When we finished he went to walk me back to my room but I wasn't ready for the day to end, I didn't want to leave him just yet. It took every ounce of confidence in me to muster all of my courage to stop and grab his hand.
"D..Do you want to watch a movie or something?" staring at my tennis shoes scared to see his face, I wasn't sure if it was time for the inevitable mood swing. To my surprise he took my hand in his, pulling me into a hug.
"We can do what ever you want." with that he started walking in a different direction.
He lead us to his room, I hadn't realized the last time I was in here he had a huge Tv hanging on the wall by the sitting area. His room looked like an eternal bachelor pad. Taking a seat on the couch, he disappeared into a room attached to his for a little. When he came back he was wearing a tight black shirt and some comfy grey sweat pants. He must have taken a quick shower since he came out drying his still wet hair with a towel.
"If you want you can take a quick shower, the bathrooms just there." he gestured to the room he just came out of.
"Uhh.. please. Although I don't have a change of clothes." looking down I realized I could really use a shower.
"No worries, I'll take care of that." he walked over to another door disappearing again for a second before coming out with a outfit of his clothes.
I thanked him and awkwardly went to the bathroom. It was gorgeous complete with a jacuzzi tub and a full glass shower. I opted for the shower, and made quick work of freshening up. When I was done I put on the outfit he gave me. His shirt basically covered most of my body coming down to my mid thigh. The shorts he gave me were actually for women, the thought of him giving me another girls shorts made me a little angry but I ignored it.
I wrapped my hair up into a bun, looking into the mirror I could feel the anger be replaced with those same nerves. With one last sigh I left the bathroom, he was laying on his bed lazily playing on his phone. When he seen me he shot up clearing his throat with wide eyes.
"Wo.. Um I thought we could watch a classic." he grabbed the remote from his night stand and clicked on the movie Scarface.
"I'll be honest, I never even seen it." my face was red as I turned and went to sit on the other side of the bed.
"Are you for real?" his excitement washing off of him in waves melting my nerves away.
He started the movie and we both watched silently the distance between us buzzing with tension. I peeked over my shoulder and it looked like he was straining to do something. I could feel my face getting hot when he caught me staring at him.
"Girl, you wanted this get closer." Fallon yelled at me annoyed with how I was acting.
"Relax, I've never been with a guy like this cut me a break." With that I scooted closer to him laying my head on his shoulder.
"He's not some guy Dali, he's our mate." she said giving me just a little more confidence.
At first he stiffened at me suddenly touching him but then relaxed, he must be as nervous as I was. Why, I had no idea but it made me feel better that we were both in the same boat. He smelled so wonderful, like cedar wood or freshly burned sage. Inhaling deeply I snuggled in just a little more, this time he leaned back and wrapped his arm around me both of us relaxing into one another. The heat from his body being so close made me feel like I never have before. My heart was racing, I could feel Fallon fighting to take control of the situation.
"Fine, dude calm down." I hissed at her, I could feel her roll her eyes at me.
"Dali, you know I can.." he looked down at me meeting my gaze but stopped talking when he realized Fallon was trying to gain control. At that his wolf started to act out as well both of them wanting the same thing. To finally complete the mating ritual.
His lips crashed into mine shifting so he was just slightly on top of me. The sensation felt different than earlier, the passion was evident causing me to lose all resolve I had. He nibbled on my lower lip causing me to open letting his tongue slip in deepening the kiss. My body started to react on its on, my hands slowly sliding up his smooth skin taking his shirt with it. Pulling away he took off his shirt leaving me even more breathless before claiming my lips again. My hands ran along his muscles making me go even more crazy.
His arms wrapped around my waist embracing me while leaving a trail of kisses down my chin to my neck. Stopping right above where he would mark me, I let my head fall back feeling his ragged breath against my neck. Shifting us he flipped us over placing me on his lap, I cupped his cheeks with my hands before kissing him just as passionately as before only pulling away to let him pull off the over sized t-shirt. He was shocked when he realized I wasn't wearing a bra, the hunger in his eyes made me and Fallon go wild.
I started to make my way down his neck kissing and nibbling as I made it to his mark I could feel my fangs start to get longer, Fallon ready to finally be one with her mate. As he felt the sharp point his breath caught but he didn't move, he wanted to be marked. His hands trailing up my side settling on the nape of my neck almost urging me to. Just before I could sink into the spot I wanted to so badly there was a loud knock at the door.
I jumped off of him grabbing the shirt and putting it on at lightning speeds. He just casually got up and walked to the door opening it annoyed. I felt like hiding I was so embarrassed by how I was behaving. I had never felt the mating pull like that, the instincts that took over. My hands went to my chest hoping it wasn't a rouge attack.
"This really couldn't have waited until the morning." he snapped at the person on the other side of the door.
"I heard you were done fooling around with girls. Did this mean your ready to finally go steady?" the feminine voice alarmed me. "I couldn't reach you through the link so I.."
"Are you f*cking kidding me Finn. How many girls is it going to be?" I scoffed under my breath turning to the window. He just threw me a sorrowful glance over his shoulder.
"No, haven't you heard I found my mate." he said in a tight voice, which just annoyed me even more.
"But Jess said.." her voice grew quiet noticing he wasn't going to let her in.
There was no response from the him he just closed the door. I kept staring out the window not ready to face him. How often do they come here? How many more can there be? I could feel his presence behind me, but he didn't say anything.
"You, should have.." Fallon started but I shut her down before she could finish. She had done enough tonight.
"How many?" I said flatly, he didn't respond. "How often do you get these... These night visits?" still quiet.. Why wouldn't he answer me. I crossed my arms willing the pieces of my heart stay in their place.
"Not many, just a few are crazy..." he said quietly, finally I turned to face him keeping my arms crossed.
"If she would have waited two more minutes we wouldn't have this problem at all." I mumbled making barely a sound. He didn't seem to notice since I was looking any where but at him.
"I made you a promise and I intend to keep it mate." walking over he unhooked my arms and placed them around his hips pulling me into a tight hug.
I leaned into his chest taking in his amazing scent one more time before letting go. I knew Jess wasn't going to be the last but it still irritated me to see how brazen they actually are. Or even that she was sending others this way, what was her problem? Quietly I walked over to the bathroom grabbing my clothes I had folded up and left on the edge of the jacuzzi tub. After fixing my hair one last time I came back out, he looked hurt. He was hurt? No one shows up at my door so late asking me to be with them.
"I think its best I go..." I said heading for the door keeping my head down.
"Please don't go." he pleaded moving to stand between me and the door, a slight panic on his face. "We haven't even finished the movie." he gave a half hearted smile at the excuse.
"Tomorrow." I stood on my toes stretching up to give him a small peck on the lips.
"At least let me walk you, it is kind of late." I nodded letting him walk us out.
We held hands walking through the halls of the mostly silent pack house. I was still pissed about the visit but felt better that he turned her away. I wondered if I wasn't there if he would have let her in to talk. Although he did seem determined to make amends with me. I was lost in thought when we finally arrived at my door.
"Good Night mate." he leaned down and kissed my forehead. I couldn't help but smile at his tenderness.
"Good night mate." I hugged him then slipped into the room. Luckily my parents were already deep asleep they didn't hear me come in. I laid down letting his scent from his shirt lull me to sleep.
