Chapter 12: The Big Bang

Supergirl:

Blocking with my arm as Kal-El hit me, I hit him back but he dodge it and grab my wrist! Tossing me over him, I hit the ground. Before I could get up, Kal-El jumps into the air and charges at me, the two of us going right through the floor!

Now, in what looks like some sort of control room, computers everywhere with holograms of Earth floating in front of them, I push myself up. Seeing Kal-El only a few feet from me, I rocket toward him, swinging a right hook and stunning him. Once stunned, I punch him across the face over and over again. Going for a third straight punch, Kal-El blocks it and shoulder charges me, knocking me back a few steps.

"Stop this Kara," Kal-El screams, showing me his clench fist. "Stop and think about this! Think about everything I've done!"

"I have," I scream.

"No you haven't," Kal-El screams back. "For this world. For our new home! Crime is at an all time low! The people are safe! I have protected them! My One Earth government had done nothing but protect the innocent people! Yes, people had to die but they were horrified people! Killer! Murderer!"

"We're not judges, Kal-El! We don't get to make that choice!"

"Then who does! Judges that can be brides! Kara, what I did may not look right, but it is not wrong either. I prevented the Joker from killing anyone else. I prevented Brainiac from destroying anymore worlds. And to prevent you from joining them, I will hunt down the Insurgency! Once they're gone-"

"Do you hear yourself! 'Once they're gone'! Flash and Green Lantern are both in the Insurgency! So are Green Arrow and Black Canary! They were once your friends!"

"They were, but not anymore. Now, they're my enemies, and as my enemies, I will have to kill them in order to protect you. In order to protect the last of our race, the last of the kryptonians! Kara, I will rebuild everything we lost!"

"No you won't. I'm sorry Kal-El. I really am, but if rebuilding everything we lost means having to destroy what left of what is right, then I can't let you do it."

Bringing my fists, I charge toward my cousin.

Blue Beetle:

"Batman," I scream, batarangs hitting my shield. "Please stop! It's me, Jaime! Please, I don't want to fight you!"

Throwing more batarangs and ignoring my plea, I curse myself for what I'm about to do. Transforming my right hand into an arm cannon, I aim down the sight.

"Please forgive me for this," I say, firing the first round. Hitting Batman right in the chest, it knocks him down to the ground. However, staying down for only a second, Batman pulls from his utility belt some sort of gun and fires it. Turning out to be a grapple gun, the grapple hook onto my shield. Pulling me toward him, he drops the gun and grabs me by the shoulder. Pulling me forward, he ducks under me and slams something onto my back. The something exploding, it sent me falling forward.

Batman walking toward me, I leg sweep him, knocking him down and giving me a chance to get back up. Changing from shield and arm cannon to dual sword, I charge toward Batman. Thrusting and swiping, Batman somehow is able to dodge it all. Thrusting again, Batman slaps the sword out of the way and punches me in the face.

Despite being dazed by Batman's punch, I could still see him reaching for more batarangs. Changing back into a shield, I manage to cover myself just in time, but this time, the batarangs explode, thick smoke falling and filling an already smoke-filled room.

"I can't see anything," I say, looking all over but only seeing grey smoke. "I can't see anything--"

The Man:

"What in the living heck," I say, seeing smoke seeping out of the storage room. Running to it, I open the doors, only to be hit in the face with a thick blanket of smoke. Backing away, I start spinning my hands, moving them in a circle. Seconds later, an air funnel forming in between my hands, the funnel moves the smoke from the room into the hallway. The smokes now all gone, I peek into the room.

"Son of a bastard," I say, seeing a mind-controlled Batman standing over an unconscious bug boy, old guy, and old guy's partner. Noticing me, Batman pulls from thin air a batarang and tosses it at me. Throwing a kunai, our two weapons hit each other, both dropping to the ground.

"You're going to need more than that to stop me," I say, walking into the room. "A lot more."

My walk turning into a run, Batman and I charge toward each other. The first to make a move, he swings a right hook. My left arm shooting up, I block it.

"Listen and listen well, caped crusader,"I say, "I know you're under mind control and all, but nevertheless, I hope you're still conscious enough to remember this. I am going to beat you up, and I am going to enjoy it."

Headbutting Batman, I stun him and send him stumbling back. Recovering fast, he runs to me and jumps into the air. Doing some sort of flying roundhouse kick, I back up and punch Batman with a straight punch. Blocking it however, he then raises his knee. Slamming his knee back down, I clap my hands and hit Batman on both sides of the head.

Screaming and backing away, he pulls batarangs from his belts and begins tossing them.

"We already did this," I say, pulling from my jacket kunais and throwing them back. The batarangs and kunais cancel each other out, Batman stops with them and reaches for something new. Throwing at me a smoke bomb, it bursts and covers me in smoke.

"Oh joy," I say, "More smoke."

Placing my hand on the ground, I close my eyes and focus. Waiting, I could feel the vibration coming from Batman as he's run. Coming from behind me, I turn away, only to see Batman with tasers in both hands.

Superman:

Our laser beams hitting each other, I pull back and dodge under Kara as her laser beams hit a computer console. Flying toward her before she could do anything, I grab her by the throat and spin around. Tossing her into a wall, she moans before sliding down it.

"I'm sorry Kara," I say, flying over to her, "But you left me no choice."

Taking a few moments to think about what I just did, I snap out of it and bend down. About to pick her up, some sort of explosion stops me. The whole Watchtower shaking, I look over.

"What the hell," I say, looking at the hole in the ceiling. Seeing smoke pour out from it, I couldn't believe it when Batman dropped through it, a loud thud echoing throughout as he hit the ground.

"Bruce," I say, seeing his suit all torn and burnt. "What the--"

Seeing someone fall in from the same hole Bruce dropped from, I jump into the air.

"Who are you," I ask, seeing a man with pitch-black hair and a sand-color jacket with a pair of sunglasses.

"Yeah," the man replies, "A lot of people want to know. End of the line is that way."

Using my x-ray vision to look through his sunglasses, for some reasons, all I could see is the lens.

"Don't bother trying to take a peek, flyboy," the man says, tapping the lens. "Coated in lead, and last I checked, you can't see through leads."

Looking at the man once more, I begin to sense something off about him.

"Batman and I couldn't use the Watchtower's teleportation pads," I start. "Was it because of you?"

"Yeah," the man replies, pulling from his pocket a cell phone. "Not only did I block them so no one could use them, but on the off chance that, say Cyborg manages to unblock them, I also switched out the old passcodes with my, meaning only I can use them."

"You switched out the old passcodes," I repeat, realizing something else. "I made sure to keep the Watchtower's reconstruction a secret from the Insurgency. I launch parts needed from across the globe. I ensured that the Watchtower's cloaking system is always on. I make sure that everyone and anyone who even knows about it is sworn to secrecy, and yet, here Firestorm and Blue Beetle are."

"The Insurgency never knew about the Watchtower," the man answers, "But I knew, and told them about it."

"How did you know," I say, my eyes glowing red. "Who the hell are you?"

"I won't tell you that, but I will tell you this. You are going to regret ever hurting Kara!"

Pulling something from within his jackets, he tosses at me what looks like a bunch of daggers. Blasting the daggers out of the way, I look back at the man as he runs toward me. Swinging my fist, he jumps back before jumping forward. Hitting me with a straight, the punch sent me flying back.

Groaning and holding my chest, I couldn't believe it.

"He punched me" I thought, "And it actually hurt. Who is this person?"

Running toward me again, I fire at him with my laser eyes. Blocking with both hands, putting one behind the other, the man then did something I've never seen before.

"Thanks for the sword," the man says, the laser from my eyes traveling throughout his body and gathering in his hands, seconds later forming a bright-red sword. Twirling it around, he then raises it near his eyes. "Like I said, you are going to regret ever hurting Kara."

Moving faster than before, now only a blur of colors, he charges at me, somehow hitting me from six different angles all at the same time. Struggling to stand up, I lost it when the man hit my back.

Screaming, the man then kicks me with enough force to make a line in the floor as I slide across it. While trying to get back up, the man lands on top of me and raises the sword high into the air.

"Stay down why don't you," he says, stabbing my cape and pinning me to the ground. Now grabbing my neck, he punches me over and over. Grabbing his hand and twisting it, I stop when I notice something purple start to bubble out of the man's mouth. Splitting it right in my face, I scream and wipe my eyes.

"What," I start, the things now burning my eyes. "What is this!"

"Tell you never," the man replies, pulling free and punching me one more time. Still swiping my eyes, I manage to rub off enough to see again. I could see the man at Kara's side.

"Kara," he says, "Are you okay? Come on. Come on! Say something! Please!"

Wiping the last of the purple sludge from my eyes, I walk over to the man. Only a few feet from him, I pull back my elbow. On the verge of punching a hole in his back and through his chest, I stop when, without turning around, his glowing green hand shot out.

Something lunging out from the man's hand, it latches onto my arm.

The Man:

"Something else I can do," I whisper to Kara as I tend to her wounds. "Conjure animal allies."

Letting the power flow through me, I call upon some animal familiars to help me. The first to appear, a bright-green lion, jumps at Superman as he is about to attack. Biting down on his arm, the lion forces him to back away. Calling forth some more, a tiger, a bear, a rhino, and even an anaconda, they all charge toward Superman.

Wrapping a burn mark with some cream and some dressing I had in my pocket, Kara's eyes open a little.

"Hey Sleeping Beauty," I joke, "This is a bad place for a quick nap. Let's say we go somewhere much better."

Helping her to her feet, she jumps back when she sees the snake wrapping itself around her cousin.

"Don't ask," I say, the two of us walking past the rhino ramming him into the falling bear. "For the record though, if you could please not tell the others about this, I would really appreciate it. Thank you."

"What now," Kara asks, looking at the hole in the ceiling. "How do we get out of here? You? Me? Blue Beetle? Jason and the professor? And what about everyone else? All the guards! We can't just leave them here to die."

"Don't worry about that," I reply, reaching for my phone. "I won't. I have a rule and it's 'do not hurt thou who aren't asking for it'."

Tapping in some command codes, I stop for a quick second. Aiming my phone at Superman, I smile.

"Hey 'Not-So' Superman," I yell, Superman getting free of the snake and ripping it in half. "Say cheese."

My thumb hitting the screen, Kara and I, along with everyone in Watchtower, with the expectation of Superman, is teleported away. Teleporting the workers to New Metropolis, Batman and his loser regime buddies to empty cells on Stryker's, and the 'five' of us to my secret base, the only one left is Superman when the Watchtower blows up.
