Chapter 2: Escape Part 1

Hose looked at the surroundings, seeing that the man wasn't around he sneaked towards her.

"Hina, we need to leave today, " said he, with a face covered by anxiety and fear.

"Do you really want to leave?"

"Why would I be in this hell hole? Remember, once I told you that I would show you the outside world, and take you with me. I still intend to fulfill it." He replied, holding her soft warm hands.

Tears welled up in her eyes, wiping them she smiled, "okay, but you better not forget it."

Hose gave a brief chuckle, "I won't."

Ahaahhha…..

Waking up from the dream, the green-haired boy, frowned as he overheard the conversation. "Why are you always talking whenever I am around you two, "

"Just up, Veru, " said Hina leaving his hands.

"Veru, so are sure about that? Today they are going to find it, right?" Hose asked with uncertainty.

"Of course. I overheard the captain, he said I was today."

The room was nothing more than a small hall, with people lying on the wooden floor that continued to waver.

Creak…..

The door opened, a beam of sunlight illuminated the darkroom, as the grumpy voice once again rang through their ears.

"Get up for work, else forget about the two pieces of bread I am wasting on you all."

Slam…..

Everybody watched him slamming the door, but no one did anything, as if it was a routine for them to hear it.

"I told you, it is our best chance to leave." Hose looked at Hina, who had mixed expressions in her blue eyes that now had lost their sparkle.

Soon, everybody got up from their slumber, leaving behind the trio.

"Hose, we need to go there fast," said Veru in a tone of emergency.

Hose got up, "I know. Hina, meet me near the dock after the sunset."

Hina nodded.

"Veru, do you think we will escape from this place?" asked Hina, her tone was dull and full of doubts.

Veru's easy-going face turned grim, looking at her face, he replied, "No, it's likely that we three will die, " turning back at the window, "but, whenever I see him, I find that light of hope, which I never had. I don't know how I would have survived here if it wasn't for him."

"He is just like a star, " Hina commented as she affectionately stared at the door. "I want to stay with him forever, "

Veru looked at her gaze, as his heart wavered, turning his face away, "yeah, he deserves the best, "

~~~~
"Veru, help me with these boxes, " the black-haired boy shouted, wiping the beads of perspiration off his forehead, that trickled down his neck, reaching his chest.
Clothes drenched in dust and sweat, yet a face full of hope. Veru looked at him, and involuntarily his body moved, to help him load the heavy boxes on to the truck.
"Hold it, I will help you, " Veru held a side of the box, and so did Hose, and loaded the mountain of boxes on the trucks.
"We should get ready, " said the green-haired boy, as he looked at the drowning sun.
"Yeah, " Hose looked at the setting sun and commented. "If we manage to escape, no matter what happens, we three will stick together."
Very scoffed at his heartwarming tone, "I am not carrying you or your lover for the rest of my life. You better look for yourself."
The two boys walked towards the dock, with their hands-on their shoulders, humming the same tone.
"Hose, what will you do after we leave this place?" The green-haired boy asked with a slight hint of hesitation.
"That I haven't thought of yet, but maybe I will start a shop with you and Hina, "
Veru remained silent for a while, bursting into laughter, trying to hold it back, he replied. "That's nothing more than a pipe dream. Hina may work for free, but I won't."
"Remember, you are under my debt of 42 pieces of bread, " chuckled Hose, grinning at Veru, "you are my slave until you pay that debt back."
Ah…..
Veru clenched his head, as dramatically pretended to be cheated. "I thought you gave them to me out of your kindness, but so less I knew you, I couldn't figure out your true motives. I will be forever a slave, I pity my existence."
Hose burst out crackles of laughter, seeing his act. "Maybe a circus will bring more money than a shop, "
Both reached the dock where the white-haired girl waited for them, scouring the vast dock with her blue eyes which brightened seeing the two.
Waving her hands, she signaled them as the two boys rushed towards her.
"Pant…."
"Huff….."
Veru looked at Hose, who was out of his breath, after just running a few meters. "Hina, we won't make it, if he stays like this." Veru scoffed at Hose sarcastically.
